Extremely friendly welcome. Made to feel special. Food choices were extremely varied. Quality of food and service was very good. We all went for the 3 course set menu but there were good variations with the mains enabling a wide choice. Would recommend this restaurant if you like good quality Italian cuisine with excellent service. The owner even came to our table to wish us an enjoyable evening

This was the second time that we have visited this restaurant for lunch within a month and on both occasions we have had lovely meals. The food is excellent with a good choice of both fixed price and a la carte menus. The staff were very friendly and service was just perfect. Looking forward to paying a return visit in the not too distant future!

Firstly, I'm going to say that the food is real tasty! You want good food go this place. The staff were really friendly and fun. Five star pizzas on the menu... nah just kidding they don't do pizza. However the starter and main were tasty, real tasty! Not to keen on desert though.
Overall real nice place to eat, if you in Eastbourne go here!

Recommended by family whilst we were on a short term visit.
It was a Tuesday night so managed to get a table without pre booking but the restaurant was still busy , always a good sign to see locals as well as visitors there on a school night . We were treated to free Olives and bread while choosing from a truly vast menu, there appeared to be no pizza on offer but after we had ordered our absolutely superb starters and main , another large table did in fact have Pizza so we must of missed there on the huge menu !Maybe too much choice for some ?
Anyway after 3 courses each and complimentary limencello we were delighted with the quality of food, service and the bill which came to under £75 which was terrific value for money especially as we both had 1 drink and unlimited water and one main being a Fillet steak which was perfectly cooked to rare as requested .We could not really pick out any negatives but if pressed the Tiramisu desert was a bit disappointing.
If we ever visit Eastbourne again we would not hesitate to go back.

My big regret about La Locanda, is that we don't live in the area and can only visit when we are on holiday. Despite this the staff always make us very welcome with much kissing and hugging. It is very busy here and we always book in advance. This is a very well run restaurant and the staff glide between tables, always seeking to provide the very best service. We have been eating here for years now and in that time the food has been of the highest standard. They are lovely friendly people and obviously work very hard to make it a success.

As soon as we arrived we were shown to our table and our coats were taken. The restaurant was buzzing and the decor was very Italian. I felt like I was in Roma. All our food was tasty and outstanding. The service was outstanding from all staff we encountered. Some of the dishes we had included, Scallops wrapped pancetta, Parma Ham and Melon, King Prawns, Streak, Ravioli stuffed with Ricotta and Mushroom sauce. Wine was great, best olives! So many good things to say. Lovely touch at the end with a shot of frozen limoncello! Highly recommend a visit and would return :)

This restaurant is very good and it compares very well with it's sister restaurant Pommodore et mozzarella, next door. This restaurant is more expensive, has entertainment at times and the quality of food is very good. The atmosphere is calmer and less noisy than next door but both are excellent and the staff well trained. It really is hard to decide where to eat as this restaurant is a little more 'up market' and Pommodore, although noisy at weekends, is such good value for money. Try both and make your choice, but if you don't like a bubbling atmosphere where people are chatting and the volume rises, try this quite sister instead. You won't be disappointed whichever you choose.

Always professional, the staff are also very friendly and helpful. The food is very well-cooked, nicely presented and plentiful - and there is lots and lots of choice. Lovely 'grown-up' restaurant - peaceful and calming and comfortable. Lovely decor.

Have been here several times, as a couple and as a larger group.
The menu is interesting, extensive, seasonal and very Italian.Excellent service and advice given on specials.
Staff remembered me which was reassuring and made us feel that we were valued as customers even though we did not spend a lot of money.
Some enigmatic live music really makes this a wonderful place to go.Good veggie options.

Recommended by others when visiting town on a break and also trip advisor and really impressed with the whole experience . Comfortable restaurant with space serving quality food and some excellent dishes. Scallops with pancetta starter was excellent but star of show calves liver and zucchini side dish .
Good wine selection and plenty of choice on a varied menu. Well worth a visit. A

We visited La Locanda last Tuesday evening for my Fathers Birthday celebrations, and we were very impressed with this restaurant. The food was superb, the atmosphere was wonderful and the service was just top notch,The owner who also owns the restaurant next door which is also very good, was very hands on,making sure everything was going to plan. The food was superb, the service in my opinion is what sets this restaurant apart from others and makes it a must go to especially for special occasions. It would be difficult to find a better restaurant in Eastbourne.

We had walked a section of the South Downs Way, and this restaurant provided a fitting climax to the holiday. The place was very busy with tourists and locals, so booking would certainly be advisable. I really enjoyed a veal dish with a cream and mushroom sauce, and my 2 friends were equally happy with their selections. I just wish I had left a bit of room for dessert. Service was impeccable, making for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Found this place from tripadvisor, we were staying in a hotel nearby for a few nights, sadly we didn't eat here on the first night as we would have definitely come back. Booked via telephone day before, it was a Wednesday and it is packed when we arrived at 8, they had allocated a table but fussy boots didn't like it so they were so obliging as to ask to wait a few minutes and indicated another table, just about to be vacated, where they would lay up and seat us, it was perfect. The ambience is very buzzy but no loud music and most of the people seemed PLU and clearly were used to dressing for dinner. Lovely menu, extensive also cocktail menu, which we had found sadly lacking in Eastbourne. Waiters were very professional, timing of the courses just right, lovely wine list and veal was exquisite, my husband had pasta to start and he declared it the best ever, good amount of side dishes and not all served on the plate so that was just right for us. Fresh bread and olives on the table and white napery with appropriate glasses for red, white wine and water. Puds were utterly scrummy and lots of birthday celebrations with cakes, candles and singing. Just wish this was closer to us, one couple we spoke to lived in Tunbridge Wells and had made the considerable journey several times a year just to eat here, can see why. Meal was served freshly cooked, hot and together. Could not fault this place, as was evident from all the other diners, most seemed regular and locals. Excellent price for standard of restaurant, make sure you book, even on a weekday.

We had the set lunch which was excellent value. Good feel to the place. Attentive staff and managers / owners very visible. Entirely deserves its high rating.

Maybe we were unlucky but the Monday night we went (3 friends)our service was not as good as it could have been. The food was suburb but the effect was spoiled by the wait. The owner apologized but customers were still being served before us. I know that no one table is comparable with another but the wait between courses was rather long. Would go back and hope that service improves.

We came on a Saturday without booking and they made all their best to give us a table as soon as possible. We were with our 3 years old daughter.
The food was great, really good Italian food. We chose among the chief choice and were not disapointed. This is definitely a good address.

My wife and I come her quite often and have always been a with the quality of the food and service. My only observation is that in my opinion they should change the menu every 3 or 4 months especially the pasta dishes.
