This must be the queen of restaurants in Eastbourne. Superb staff attention, spacious ambience, and top quality food and wine. What more can I say? Grazie tanto!

We visited for our wedding anniversary and had a very enjoyable meal with excellent service. The food was first class and would not hesitate visiting again.

18ths, 21sts, 40ths, 50ths, 60ths,70ths ,80ths we've had them all here.. and we are as a very big family very hard to please. But in all these years La Locanda has never once let us down. The service is top draw - the food is great - the wine is good . And after another excellent birthday experience today I'm inclined to give this restaurant 10 out of 10. I've done the Michelin 3 star restaurants and maybe yes they are better but La Locanda feels like home and that has to be the best recommendation any restaurant can get for a special meal. Grazie

I had dinner with my wife and two friends on the 7 May. We all agreed that the food was some of the best Italian we had eaten..The service was excellent. We had a very friendly efficient young waitress who helped to make the evening. The food was fairly priced with a very good menu

Having read previous reviews we decided to try Locanda del Duca during an overnight visit to Eastbourne. We were not disappointed. The service was helpful, efficient and friendly and the atmosphere good. Not too noisy so that conversation with our guest was not drowned by customers at nearby tables.
The food was good, despite an overlong menu, and obviously freshly cooked. Unfortunately the melon, which I had with San Daniele ham, was very tasteless and not ripe and my husband thought that only six clams in his first course was rather on the mean side, though the sauce itself was delicious and the pasta perfect. The main courses - two calves liver and one escalope of veal - were very good with excellent vegetable side dishes.
No desserts, but first class coffee plus a complimentary drink. We would certainly make a return visit when we are next in Eastbourne.

visited this restaurant following recommendation, we weren't disappointed. When we arrived the place was extremely buy we thought we may not get in but I'm pleased to say a table was found. I can recommend the starter of mozzarella avocado and tomato though have to admit the choice of dishes made it difficult to choose. Very friendly and attentive. Don't let this one pass you by it was great

We have dined at both this and the sister restauarant (Pomodoro e Mozzarella) on countless occasions. We also own a local guesthouse and recommend this restaurant to our guests. It has NEVER disappointed. I have NEVER had a guest complain and the service and food is just excellent. It is always busy so on a Saturday - always book to avoid dissapointment. The atmosphere is great and the owner, particularly on special evenings and when busy, makes a special point of trying to get round as many tables as possible for a quick hello.

My huband and i had yet another excellent night at La Locanda del Duca...it's our fav restaurant !
Great atmosphere, fab service from everyone everytime and the owner Luca always comes round to say hello to everyone..a great touch.Enjoyed the Melanzane Parmigiana to start and the Pollo con 2 peperoni esp this time round...just have to make decisions on what to have on each visit..thats the tough bit...if you've never been...give it a try.
Grazie to all at La Locanda.Tina

We were a party of a 11 people which is a larger size to cater for. We were located in a quiet corner of the restaurant so we could all chat very easily together. All of the food and the service was excellent but I would particularly like to recommend a few of the dishes.
The scallops wrapped in Italian bacon were superb and thoroughly recommended as a starter.
Lemon Sole and 'Penne Fantasia' were also excellent main dishes.
The ice cream tasted homemade- the cinnamon ice cream tasted very much of cinnamon which I liked.
We were well looked after with top ups with wine and water and the restaurant offered us a complimentary liqueur at the end of the meal.
We are not local to Eastbourne but I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and would return if in Eastbourne again.

We ate lunch on a Bank Holiday it was full and we were transported back to how Italian Restaurants use to be and why they became so popular.

If you want to experience something unique go there but don't to forget to book.

No pizza's here but very, very good pasta and other Italian food - I would happily recommend the food here but it could have been slightly better as some of the food could have had a little more depth, the pudding (ice cream and pears) was fantastic! Bit big and not very intimate - staff were excellent.

We had an enjoyable evening at this restaurant which we visited for the first time and with high expectations.
However, the tables are a little crowded in and the food was very good but not quite up to what we had hoped for. I would happily eat there again now that we know what to expect, and the disappointment from the first visit could be down to us hoping for something more special.

We were visiting Eastbourne for the first time and luckily happened upon La Locanda whist exploring the town and looking for a good place for dinner. We were attracted by the look of the restaurant and the menu. We visited on a Sunday evening. Very good value set menu, which we both had. The portion sizes were generous and the food beautifully cooked and presented. The homemade ice cream really is home made and is the best I have ever tasted. The staff were all very attentive and friendly, willing to engage with as much or as little conversation as guests wanted. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant, you don't need to even think of visiting one of the high street chains !

This restaurant is the best in eastbourne, I have been there several times in the last year and a half and am never disappointed. The food is brilliant, the waiters are all lovely and there's always a great atmosphere. Have recommended to numerous friends who have all had the same great experience!

Visited on a Saturday night and were not disappointed. The service was examplary, the atmosphere buzzing (I would recommened booking ahead) and the food outstanding.
We had the mussels and scallops wrapped in bacon for starter, both of which were cooked and seasoned perfectly, followed by gnocchi and linguini for main. Pasts is all freshly made with scrummy fresh ingredients, and ample portions.
We didn't have dessert as were too full from what we had just eaten, but literally everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, desserts included.
Friendly staff, local feel, delicious food, and reasonably priced; will definately be back!

We arrived in Eastbourne for a walking weekend with friends and found La Locanda Del Duca and decided to try it. The three course menu at £20 was superb. We had a very generous portion of Smoked Salmon to start and a wonderfully creamy Goujons of Chicken as our main course. Desert was home made ice cream. The service was punctual, professional and cheerful. All in all, what more could you expect of a restaurant? Highly recommended, and not expensive.

The previous reviews of this restaurant were given to us by customers of Belle Tout Lighthouse which we have previously recommended as exceptional value for money. We have also recommended the Thai restaurant in East Dean as outstanding.
We can now add the La Locanda Del Duca as a place not to be missed in the Eastbourne area. An exceptional range of Italian food, well cooked and presented with caring, polite and friendly staff.
The evening out was of the same high quality as the Lighthouse. We look forward to going back on our next visit in September.

Chose this restaurant off the tripadvisor list, and was not disappointed. We went on a Saturday night and didn't have a reservation, but they quickly found us a table anyways even though the restaurant was very busy. Service was quick and professional, food was delicious, nice and hot and fresh tasting, and having the complimentary bread, olives and liqueur with our coffee was a really nice treat. Pasta and risotto prices were good. Appetizers, meat and fish dishes were a little high we thought but the portions were good.
Would keep this place for special occasions, but would definitely go again.Enjoy!

Have eaten here a couple of times and food is always consistent, fresh and good. It is not a budget restaurant (they own next door for cheaper italian food) or a chain. The owner is always in there greeting guests and is a big part of the local community.
We popped by around 6.30pm on a Friday night and were lucky to get a table as nearly all the tables were full so would recommend booking if visiting at the weekend. Service is very attentive and good but not intrusive. It is one of the more expensive restaurants however there is always a set menu with several choices with 3 courses under £20 which offers very good food.
We will be back
