The reception, restaurant and bar staff were all delightful and nothing was too much trouble - arrangements were even made for us to put some cold meats and cheeses, brought back from France, in the hotel refrigerator for the duration of our stay. The owners were friendly, visible and helpful. Breakfasts, main meals and bar snacks were all good quality and good value. The conservatory was a lovely haven of peace in which to take meals and enjoy the sea view. It was nice to enjoy old-fashioned luxuries such as a jug of hot water with a pot of tea, and fresh towels every day.

A couple of minor irritations were that the wifi didn’t work in the bedroom, and we had to ask for extra sachets of shower gel rather than its being replenished when the room was made up.

There were, however, issues with our room. We looked at a number of hotels before booking because we wanted a few days of total relaxation in the middle of a busy schedule. We booked a twin room with sea view at the Langham because the hotel’s web-site indicates that these rooms are spacious with a seating area. We arrived late in the evening, and were shown to a newly refurbished but small, cluttered room in which it would have been impossible to sit in comfort to read or watch television. In the morning, we raised this with reception and, after some discussion with the owner, we were transferred to a room which was much pleasanter, though yet to be refurbished. Unfortunately, our hopes of quiet afternoons resting our room were still not realised because of the sounds of sawing, drilling and hammering in the room above. There seemed no point in complaining again, since we had already been told that this was the only other front room available because of two large block bookings. In fairness, I must mention that we were not charged for the first night, which was a nice gesture.

The disappointing thing is that we booked months in advance, in order to get what we wanted - we were not on a cheap last-minute deal, when we would expect to take whatever happened to be on offer. I am really sad not to be able to give this hotel the ringing endorsement that, in many ways, it richly deserves.

we have stayed here before and would highly recommend this hotel. Our room was perfect very clean well maintained and comfortable All staff were very friendly and kind. The hotel with no doubt looks the most attractive of them all along the parade and inside with its warmth and hospitality does not dissapoint. The food and restaurant area were both excellent. Looking forward to our next stay.

Having been double booked by The Raymar Hotel in Eastbourne, I walked to the sea front and entered the Langham to see if they had a room. They did have a room which was more expensive than the Raymar but when I told them the Raymar had let me down they offered a discount to me which although still a little more expensive, the room was very good value for money and had a great sea view. Our room had recently been upgraded and was very nicely laid out with a nice size en-suite. Bar is open 24/7 for residents and breakfast was between 7 and 10. Breakfast was very good and waiting staff were excellent. Definitely a Hotel I would book again when I return to Eastbourne.

Lovely friendly hotel about 10 mins walk to the Pier. Nice terrace at the front for early eve drinks. Comfy beds and very modern bathrooms on rooms to rear which had no view - but were cooler in the hot weather! Staff very attentive and polite. Food good - including handy packed lunches on last day. Recommended.

Again this year we stayed for 6 days at the hotel for the airborne display.
We had a room on the 3rd floor because the wife likes a cig, but because of the heat we needed to keep the window open for some cool air, unfortunately the sea birds like feeding at around five o'clock so a lie in wasn't an option.
We went down with some friend and they had a room on the front, and loved it.
Must say the breakfast is the best in the area and you get what you pay for.

We booked in early on the saturday afternoon 4/8 the staff were so pleasant and helpful. we loved the view from the front of the hotel . Having booked two rooms a double and a single we found that the single was more spacious ,but we enjoyed the ambience of this hotel .Nothing appeared too much trouble. Breakfast was held in a spacious dining room with a conservatory with a view of the sea.
we would reccommend this hotel

I originally chose this hotel because it was at the right end of the town for where I needed to be - just for one night - and because it was a reasonable rate, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I booked a single room with a sea view (and I had come a cropper with 'sea views' in the past, whereby binoculars and/or periscopes were needed) but this really WAS a sea view - couldn't have asked for more!
As a single room, the accommodation wasn't huge, but it was spotlessly clean and it was comfortable. There were all the usual things - dressing table, desk, wardrobe with half a dozen hangers, tea and coffee etc, a hairdryer... I needed an iron and ironing board, and one appeared within five minutes of my request. The bathroom had a lovely shower (with one of those 'drench' style shower heads), a good holder in the shower for shampoo, shower gel etc and there was really good bathroom lighting for applying make up! In fact, the lighting in the bedroom was really thoughtfully put up too - in addition to the main light, there was an additional light by the dressing table (more make up?) and a little wall-mounted light by the bed for reading. The bed was very comfortable - I'd left the window open when I went to bed and the only thing that woke me up was the sound of rain in the middle of the night - soon solved by closing the window!
Breakfast in the morning was very well presented and plentiful. I am quite a fussy vegan, but the hotel provided soya milk and a very nice vegetarian cooked breakfast (plus juice, coffee, cereal and toast).
Throughout my stay, the common factor was the helpfulness of the staff. The receptionist was extremely polite, efficient and helpful, as were the members of staff at breakfast. The hotel appears to cater for larger groups of more mature guests, but manages the needs of the larger parties very efficiently alongside smaller parties or individuals. I will definitely go back to the Langham when I am next in Eastbourne.

First stayed at the Langham early summer 2011... we chose it randomly on the internet as it was close to the Fishermans club which is where we wanted to take my Mum to meet up with her old friends. Had an absolutely lovely weekend (in a room that hadn't been done up but with amazing sea views and we happen to like retro interiors!) so when planning my wedding for August 2011 we wanted it to be at the Langham! Since the wedding have been back about 6 times, including for our first anniversary last weekend. The Langham has the very friendliest staff I've ever come across in a hotel.

Booked this hotel very last minute (5 o'clock in the afternoon on day we were staying). The hotel is in a lovely location right on the seafront. Staff very friedly and welcoming. If you like people watching then this is the plalce for you, plenty of outside table and chairs to enjoy a coffee (or something stronger if you prefer). This is an old building but is kept to a good standard. The room we had was not the biggest we've stayed in and possibly the price could be lowered slightly to reflect the size, but clean and more than adequate for our one night stay. If you are like my husband and me and are 'generously proportioned', the shower is a challenge :) Not so mich the size of the cubicle but it had an ornate tap which did get in the way a bit. The centre of town is a short walk away as is the pier with plenty of pubs to choose from. We dined at the hotel and the two course A la Carte was good value for money and the food was good. Breafast the next day was had in the conservatory which looked out to sea which was a lovely start to the day. I will definitely stay again but maybe save and opt for a bigger room with a sea view.

i have stayed in many hotels and found this one to be one of the best, when a hotel is privatley owned sometimes there is not so much money in the pot as a national to bring the standards to a certain level that is to be expected, these people have achieved it.
It was clean comfortable and the staff were pleasant and knowledgable. The owner even served me behind the bar as the rest of the bar staff were busy, this proves to me that all hands are on deck and no one is to proud to get there hands dirty, this proves it has a very strong team.
Good luck for the future you deserve it

We stayed for 2 nights at the Langham for a 60th birthday celebration. The room (307) was spotless and the staff attentive. The breakfast was good and a wide choice. We ate in the dining room one night and although the lamb could have been better it was hot and presented nicely. We stayed in room 307 but we understand from talking to another couple in the bar and also seeing their room that not all the rooms are the same standard. The hotel kindly bought out a birthday cake with a lighted candle in after dinner as they knew it was my partners birthday which was a lovely gesture. We would return again but check on the room first.

Here's one that I forgot about - Another Majestic Coach Tour - £149-00 each for a 5 day trip - b&b and dinner. Seafront view, at no added cost -lift to all floors. A little out of town but on a coach tour that doesn't matter too much. The food was top class and served @ your table - not buffet style - the bar prices were reasonable and there was the chance to charge drinks to your room and not asked for a card printout and just trusted to pay on departure. we had a good evenings entertainment @ Eastbourne Hippodrome, only a small theatre, that is staffed by Volunteers. evidently the council have been trying to close it , but by withdrawing funding for next year it now appears it will be successful in doing so. looking forward to booking again later this year

As a regular traveler, I have come to expect a lot from the hotels I stay at. For such a little price, The Langham covers it perfectly. I paid £45 for a single room (Cheapest on offer). The room I was given was a side sea view. The hotel has obviously undergone renovations within the last 5-10 years, and I must say it has been very well done. It's not a 4 star property, so obviously there would have been a budget in place for the renovations, but in my opinion the money was spent brilliantly. For example the bedroom window was a new PVC double glazed unit, however the bathroom window was the original wooden framed sash, but the window had been re-fitted on to new runners, allowing me to open the window with all of the ease of a brand new unit, but without having the extra charge on my room rate for the extra new window (Which I rarely even looked at as it was in the en-suite). It is smart thinking like this that I like. It means that I get THE very best value for my money, and for this reason I shall return to The Langham again. On my last visit, I had the pleasure of meeting the hotel owner, whom is a very nice, welcoming chap and even offered to buy me a pint! Definitely worth a look, it's a hotel for the young and older alike.
IF you're looking for a room in Eastbourne, take a look at my other reviews, I have covered nearly every hotel in the town!

Spent a few days last week at the Langham and it was Fantastic. The hotel was almost full so we had a room at the back, but that was down to me leaving it to the last minute. Room was very clean with lovely bedding and the bathroom was spotless.
Breakfast was brilliant, couldn't fault it. A great big pot of coffee, a bowl of cereal, fruit, yogurt, full English breakfast, two rounds of toast with pots of honey and jam. Amazing service from a lovely young lady called Aliona. She couldn't have done more for us and was always happy to help and advise what was best.
The downstairs bar was lovely with fantastic photos on the wall. I ordered a coffee expecting a cup with a pre-wrapped biscuit as in most places. Imagine my surprise when a cafetiere and a plate of warm shortbread.
We went out in the evening so couldn't comment on the other food but the menu looked great.
Thank you to all the staff for making our little break such a pleasure.

We had a couple of nights here and were very happy. One room had the old shower rooms, which need doing up, but the other had been done and was very nice. Everything clean. Nice white sheets. Small bath towels, poor TV reception and wifi, but otherwise no complaints. Staff cold not have been more helpful.

Arrived on a Friday for the weekend as my wife needed a break before her third operation within a year.
We were given a room on the third floor overlooking the rear of the property; the view was sadly spoiled by the next doors garden full of rubbish which we realise is beyond the hotels control. The bedroom also needed some work on the wall under the window there was a large area of filler which was not rubbed down and painted, we could feel and see the floor boards through the carpet, uncomfortable bed, plus the bathroom fan needed cleaning. My wife booked the room she said there was no point in complaining as the hotel was full and she need not want any upset or stress before her operation.
The bar, restaurant and other public area were all clean and in very good order. Staff seemed friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the sea front and convenient for the pier and town centre shame about the wet weather.
Breakfast was very good and hot there was waiter/waitress service which was nice.

Me and my boyfriend stayed on a half board deal for one night for valentines. The hotel was really good value for money and we paid a little extra for sea view (which is well worth it!). The room wasn't a bad size, although I expected bigger. The bed was very comfy and it was all very clean. The sunrise from the window in the morning was beautiful! However, we did get intruded a couple of times. One of the managers came into our room in the morning, which was an accident as he was meant to go to another room, but still a bit worrying. It then happened again 20 minutes later when the cleaners did the same. It was about 8am so we were both in bed still. Not very professional. Our overall stay however made up for it. The food was amazing and so was the food. The staff were very pleasant apart from the incidents I mentioned!

My partner and I stayed in this hotel over the nights Friday/Saturday June 22nd/23rd 2012, it was booked at short notice through booking.com and at the time, there were only four rooms available. So our choice was very limited. We were given room 142 which had a side sea view, the room itself was clean, tidy, and a nice size. However, the bathroom was unbelievably small - I am of medium build, but not tall but anyone who is slightly on the "large size" would simply not be able to wash at the wash basin, it was at an angle and just too close to the door and wall. Every time I cleaned my teeth, when I bent down I banged my head on the shelf above the wash basin.

I only have two negative comments on this hotel, I have already covered the bathroom but my biggest complaint/concern was concerning the paper thin walls. My partner has not been well for the last six months, she has undergone a lot of hospital treatment and we were looking for a quiet weekend away. Our bed was comfortable, we slept well but at six o'clock on the Saturday morning we were woken up by the sound of a couple talking. I have to admit that at first, I really thought they were in our room but after a couple of seconds of panic, realised that they were next door in room 141. We could hear every word they were saying, they talked for ages then went to beakfast right on seven o'clock but had kept us awake now for an hour. This was repeated around the same time on the Sunday morning, if the occupants of room 141 are reading this report, then I do hope that your side (the lady) is better. I have stayed in many hotels in this country and abroad but never have I stayed in a hotel where the walls were so thin. The other problem with room 142 is that it is directly above the bar and since there was entertainment on in the bar on both the Friday and Saturday nights, then this too was very loud in our room. Having said that, it was over by 11.15pm so was not too much of a problem. These noise levels though seriously need to be addressed!

Onto the positives, the staff were very very helpful, nothing was too much problem for them, we ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening and despite it being completely full, the meal was exceptionally good, the service was first class and the staff were excellent. Breakfast too was very nice on both mornings. The hotel was clean and tidy throughout, the location is superb and although there is only limited parking (three garages which have to be booked in advance), if you search around, there is street parking to be found. The bar staff were also friendly and efficient. I really can't fault anything else in the hotel, I would have no doubt in staying at the hotel again but would strongly resist accepting either room 141 or 142.

I've now stopped at this beach front hotel three times, and have always had an enjoyable stay, the staff, service and breakfasts are all excellent and very reasonably priced throughout the seasons!
Cant wait for my next trip to England to book again!:-)

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It is situated close to the town centre and just a few steps from the seafront.Parking is not a problem. The staff were excellent, very polite, friendly and helpful. We chose a room without a seaview and were allocated one at the back of the hotel which was bright and airy and tastefully decorated with very comfortable beds. It was very quiet during the day and at night. It was an added bonus to have free WiFi in all rooms with good reception. The in house entertainment was enjoyable. The complimentary breakfast was first class full english with all the trimmings waiter/waitress served and piping hot and beautifully presented which we ate in the conservatory over looking the beach. Afternoon tea is a must. The whole hotel was decorated to a high standard with interesting pictures on the walls alongside memorabilia. There was a quiet area with magazines books and games and a bar with a veranda. All views over looked the sea as the hotel was situated across the road from the beach.

We had a comfortable stay at the Langham with a top priced sea view suite plus a single for our son. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable the sea view wonderful. The single room was not in the same class but 25% of the price and spacious and clean. The service in the hotel was efficient and pleasant. I have to say though the decor is getting rather tired and the whole place seemed to smell rather of boiled cabbage. We cannot comment on the evening meals but the breakfast was exactly as ordered and cheerfully and efficiently served. Parking is in the road or some distance from the hotel. The location is excellent and waking to the sound of the sea a real tonic.
