This hotel far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff throughout the hotel, were friendly and helpful, they are a credit to the proprietors. The food in the restaurant was very good both in quality and choice.

We were attending with a group of over eighty people, the banquette on Saturday night was faultless, which is no mean task for that many people. The hotel is warm and comfortable as was our room, which was spotlessly clean.

The owners were in attendance all weekend to ensure the smooth running of our event. Contrary to some of the comments on this website, we found the bar prices were not bad for a hotel with bitter at £3.30 a pint and the very good Stowford Press cider at £3.40 a pint.

Parking is not such a problem, as the hotel have arranged for parking at the nearby TA centre and even have a member of staff on the gate all day to let people in and out.

Well done and thank you, to all at the Langham.

The Hotel Proprietor, Neil Kirby and his wife Wendy headed an excellant team of staff who looked after us during our weekend event. Nothing was too much trouble and the meals were considered some of the best we have experienced. The hotel organised the Toastmaster and a live band for the Gala Festival and everything worked perfectly. We have received nothing but praise from the 84 people that attended. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for Masonic Ladies Weekends or similar large events.

The hotel sits more or less opposite the pavillion and sea front and about 10-15 minutes walk from the pier and town centre. All things considered we enjoyed our stay, thought it was value for money and experienced no problems.

As with most Sussex hotels and resorts parking is quite a problem, though parking can be found - if you are lucky - in nearby roads. There is reasonable disabled access to the hotel and the hotel also has a lift which is handy for those who cannot get around so easily. The bar lounge and part of the dining area offer good views of the sea and pier and the main restaurant is a very pleasant place to be indeed, in terms of decor including stain glass panelling, layout and the attentive staff. The bar/lounge has the look and feel of a 1960s saloon but is nevertheless well run and homely, if a tad expensive.

We found all the members of staff we encountered those on reception, the dining staff, bar staff and maids to be very friendly and efficient. Our double room was small, but well maintained and perfectly fine for a short stay. The en-suite, while smaller than you might find at a chain hotel, was clean, with a modern shower and fittings and everything worked first time.

While the hotel offers good value for money, is clean and well run, the decor does seem really old fashioned and there seems a deliberate nod to nostalgia in the art work (Brando, The Beatles, Hepburn, Pele and newspaper front pages from yesteryear that can be seen around the communial areas.

The full english breakfast is small, but ok (not value for money) and the eggs were overdone. We also tried the continental which again was ok but nothing special. There are other options on the breakfast menu for those taking it. We were however pleasantly surprised by the evening menu - which is value for money at approx £12.50 per head for two courses and approx £15.00 for three - with suppliments for some dishes. These were very well presented and enjoyable. This may be handy to know when the weather is poor and you dont fancy braving the elements to walk into the main part of the resort.

By the way there are a few decent restaurants at the far end of the resort near the theatre/winter gardens (they look well frequented). There are also a few decent options in the centre of the resort ranging from Harry Ramsdens (though not the cheesecake!), to a reasoanble greek.

One thing we were not expecting at the Langham was evening entertainment in the lounge. At first we thought "oh no" when the keyboards arrived and the Elvis covers started. However - the guy was actually very good, injecting jokes and humour into his act. We and the handful of others who stuck with it and joined in had a good time - we really did. Clearly the entertainment is aimed at coach parties of elderly visitors. However for those of us already in late middle age, it was bands like the Sweet, the Sex Pistols and the Human League who were our idols - so seaside entertainers take note - Elvis and Roy Orbison covers are sounding more and more like ancient history.

Just a note on the resort, in pleasant weather it is a great place to be in terms of the prom with its well tended gardens and long beaches, the better beaches lay East beyond the pier, towards Beechy Head. The pier while not containing the funfair and excitemet of Brighton's still has enough on it for a pleasant afternoon. However right now large sections of it appear to be under rennovation which seems a tad short sighted just ahead of the summer season. The town is a bit boring though in poor weather, though the town centre has plenty of shops etc. Nearby places of interest include Beechy Head, Seaford's Paradise Park, Seven Sisters Country Park and Brighton especially the Lanes, Pier and Marina.

We have just celebrated the Sure & Stedfast Masonic Lodge Ladies Festival Weekend 30th March - 1st April. 2012 at this wonderful hotel .From the very first visit we made back in June last year we were made very welcome and knew from that moment it was the venue for us. The proprietors Neil & Wendy Kirby couldn't have been more friendly and professional towards us, they and all their staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them, they made it a weekend to remember. The rooms were excellant, the food superb and was presented to that of a 5 star restaurant. As it's my first time in the chair as Worshipful Master,we wanted the weekend to be special, it was all our expectations and more.
The hotel is a 3 star but it has 5 star qualities should be upgraded. On the hotel web site the reviews are from lodges south of London,to any Masonic Lodges North of London looking for an exceptional venue give this hotel a try, you will not be disappointed, We had such a good feed back from our guests that we recommend anyone to look at this hotel for any occassion that they may wish to celebrate. Just spent the weekend in the Langham Hotel in Eastbourne. My wife and I had a very spacious sea view double bedroom which was spotlessly clean and decorated and furnished to a high standard with plenty of storage space. The bed was extremely comfortable. The en-suite shower room was larger than we had expected and meant you weren't bumping into each other as we've previously experienced in other hotels. Throughout our 2 day stay, the staff were friendly, efficient and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. All our meals were well presented and were of a high standard with plenty of choice. The proprietor, Mr Neil Kirby made himself known to us and other guests in the hotel and appeared to be genuinely interested in seeing that our stay was enjoyable. The Hotel has a character of it's own which works, the atmosphere in the hotel exudes friendliness. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. This was our first visit to Eastbourne and it won't be our last and we will be staying again in the Langham Hotel.

We have just returned to Cornwall, following a Ladies Festival 30th March to Sunday 1st April. This was a Masonic event which the owners Neil and Wendy are becoming very experienced at organising. All of the staff are in house trained by the owners who are very much hands on. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff who actually seemed to enjoy what they were doing. I cannot comment on the rear rooms as we were lucky enough to have a sea view room which was large and comfortable and very very clean. The food was of excellent quality and well presented. I have stayed in many supposed 4* hotels which were not of this quality. Even the weather was of a good quality with warm sunshine throughout. The hotel is only a short walk from the pier but far enough to be in a quiet location. Excellent secure parking available through the hotel but am not sure if this is for everyone or just for special events.

The Langham certainly fulfilled over and above our expections for a wonderful weekend, the food was excellent and the staff attentive. We were greeted by the proprietor Neil Kirby who instantly made us feel at home. A lovely venue with many rooms overlooking the beach and sea. Everyone was made to feel special. Excellent value for money, presentation was first class. We shall certainly be going back again, if you are looking for a weekend away or just a lunch or evening meal that wont break the bank, you must give them a visit, you will not be disappointed.

We have just spent the weekend of 24-26th March at The Langham for the Danson Park Ladies Festivel (Masonic event), however as all of my immediate family were there, it was also a family gathering. The event itself was very successful, which was a cumulative effort of all the hard work by the Lodge Committe Members throughout the past year, as well as the excellent service and facilities provided the the Proprietor Neil and his friendly, professional and lovely team of staff at the Langham. The weather (although not guaranteed in the UK) was perfect and the hotel's location meant that we were able to enjoy The Royal Parade and surrounding areas in the sunshine, as well as the hotel's excellent facilities. All the staff from Receptionists, to Management, the Restaurant, Bar and Room Service staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. We were able to relax and enjoy the excellent food and drinks available in the restaurant and bar/lounge/terrace areas, as well having the opportunity to 'glam' up for the main event on Saturday night. Nothing was too much trouble for Neil and his staff, and we as a family really appreciated everything Neil and his team did for the Lodge. We look forward to a return leisure trip this year, time permitting, but failing that, we look forward to returning to The Langham with Danson Park Lodge next March for the next Ladies Festival - thank you so much. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the excellent service and accommodation provided by the Langham to any leisure visitors, tourists and other Lodge members alike.

Like many people who have written about this hotel, we were there for a large function. Dinner, an overnight stay and breakfast. Our room was beautiful, with a bay window overlooking the beach, and the beds (our double was two singles together) were very comfortable. We had a good night's sleep. The bathroom was a little in need of decoration however, and we couldn't regulate the temperature of the water in the shower. It was either scalding or cold and I'm guessing that it depended on whether the people in the next room were using the shower. I also found the bedroom lighting a little dim. There was one overhead light in the bay and the bedside lights weren't really bright enough for comfortable reading. The food was excellent, especially as they were serving so many people simultaneously in the evening, and I especially liked the tiny cups of soup in between the starter and main course. The staff were friendly and helpful, and overall it was a delightful stay.

I would just like to say what a wonderful lunch we had at the Langham Hotel, Eastbourne for Mothering Sunday. The food was delicious, the staff very friendly and the service excellent.
The whole experience was fantastic. I will be looking to book to go again as soon as possible.

Saturday 4th February saw the final result of a year of planning the perfect Birthday Party, and I could not have chosen a more perfect venue. All of the staff really got into the spirit of the evening, adding leopard skin bow ties to their uniforms. They looked great and were very attentive. All of my guests were extremely impressed. We also stayed the night and enjoyed a comfortable room and superb breakfast the next morning.

A big event like that can sometimes be a let down, but I can whole heartedly say my party exceeded my expectations!! Thanks Neil, Wendy and all of the wonderful staff...

We booked a 3 night weekend stay to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday, and as the title suggests there were guests there whose ages ranged from their 80s - 12 years old. This was a coach trip so we had a package deal including dinner, bed & breakfast organised through that company. As far as the hotel itself was concerned, the staff could not be more helpful - they were happy for us to put up decorations & organise a cake for the birthday girl (not very practical to take on a coach!!) and their attention at all times was without fault. The food was tasty and plentiful and the restaurant staff were equally as much of a credit as the rest of the staff. Yes, some of the rooms could do with updating, but again the staff were faultless when trying to organise a sea view room for the birthday girl - thank you guys! The entertainment was, shall we say, interesting?? But, it was the end of January, and on Saturday night there was only our group & one other in the suite - even the entertainer had had enough by 9pm, which says it all!!! Some of us did gatecrash the disco upstairs though, so happy days?!? To sum up I would say & successful weekend helped in no small measure by the staff of the hotel - thank you!

Saturday, 28th January saw us heading to The Langham Hotel, Eastbourne for the VMCC Annual Dinner & Dance but this year we decided to take the hotel up on its special offer for an overnight stay including breakfast. What a great hotel, the staff are all friendly, from the Reception, through to the Waiting staff, through to the Cleaners. Excellent evening, excellent room, excellent breakfast!! Wonderful seaview from our window! We would definitely revisit if we needed a hotel in that area and we will definitely be back next year!!

We took advantage of their special offer of dinner B and B for a very reasonable price and had another fab stay at this friendly, well run hotel. We stayed in a lovely refurbished room and received excellent service from all staff including a friendly chat with the proprietor. Brisk walks along the prom on a wintery sunny day topped it all off. The dinners were excellent. all in all a great stay now just wishing we'd booked for longer :)

This hotel was used as a coach group destination over Christmas - my husband was the coach driver!! He had 38 passengers of whom more than half have already re-booked.
A warm welcome with mince pies greeted them, porterage was provided and the hotel has a central lift. Everything was well organised.
The hotel has been refurbed with some work ongoing which didn't impact on the group.
All rooms have ensuite some with sea view (request!!). All have flatscreen tv's, phones, tea and coffee making etc
There are two bars - one is an upstairs lounge bar with entertainment (quizzes etc) in the evening and the other bar is ground floor with music in the evening.
The food is very good - choices on the menu are more than adequate - choices are made at breakfast time and any special dietary requirements are met. The timed sittings meant that the coach groups did not have an adverse impact on the private customers and all mixed well.
There is some parking at the hotel but I would check as we were in a coach!!
It is a family owned hotel and the staff were very helpful, hotel is clean and pleasant and the entertainment is good too.
It is a 10 minute (slow) walk into the centre of Eastbourne, right on the seafront, not hilly.

Oh dear, The coach people are second best again.New Years eve dinner was very early and the coach people were shown to the basement for there knees-up. The reason ? The posh people are having there party in the resturant. Earlier that afternoon one pompas resident was spouting his displeasure of coach people while sipping a cup of tea.Don't worry about far end rooms, as central rooms have the pleasure of lisitening to the lift motor as it ejects guests to there rooms.Rear bedrooms have a fantastic view of the delerict hotel opposite.Staff are friendly and work hard. Some places could be cleaner.

I have just had a very special evening at the Langham celebrating my 50th birthday with 18 family members who had travelled from all over to meet up .
We don't meet up regularly and so this was to be a happy union to celebrate birthday and Christmas and everyone was looking forward to it especially the children . At this hotel Children are not permitted to sleep without an adult in the room here so it meant us juggling normal sleeping arrangements round but sharing with 2 young nieces hopefully only bonded us closer and added to the 6un ? For them ! . I chose my menu beforehand with Andrew Coy the manager and we were seated in the blue alcove of the restaurant which was beautifully laid out with personalised menus and seating plan and place setting name cards . The food was really really good and I was especially impressed by the childrens food and they loved it too ..-The meal was very well price and the service attentive and very polite .
-ve read on other reviews that bar prices are high ...no they are not ! The bar prices were very good and we had a really memorable get together.
The rooms are comfortable tho a little dated perhaps who cares when food and service is good and staff and customers are smiling ...keep up the excellant work and I definitely recommend this hotel for family get togethers ...-we thought you were fabulous .....

I stayed recently at the Langham as we attending a Christmas Party. The party was great, good three course meal with entertainment, really good value and good fun, highly recommended.

My room was excellent, lovely towels in the bathroom, lots of hot water and a comfortable bed. Did I mention the view out to sea? This is not the first time I have visited the hotel. Every visit you get a warm welcome. Last autumn I was there when the Deputy Prime Minister was visiting. My picture shows him presenting a training certificate to head receptionist Faye Chillingworth with local MP Stephen Lloyd and Principal from Sussex Downs College Melanie Hunt.

General Manager Andrew Coy was telling me how they have an ethos of training in the hotel and supporting staff to get a range of qualifications. Well done to them as their customer service is excellent.

Last weekend stayed overnight following a Christmas party there and was impressed by the hotel and level of service. Even though the party was 100+ the food was absolutely delicious and hot! Lots of personal touches and very friendly staff. Beautiful spacious room with views of the rolling sea - must be brilliant in the summer. Very impressed that they were able to give me soya milk when requested at breakfast!

At the end of this November (2011) my husband and took friends there for lunch.
The food was excelant and so was the service. What was even better was the price of the bill, realy good value for money.
After the meal and having coffee in the bar I had a look around the hotel and definately if I had to stay in Eastbourne I would stay there.

We booked this hotel as a group booking and all 43 clients as well as the driver were impressed. The hotel was very well run, very clean and the food was excellent. All the staff were frendly and worked hard to make our stay as comfortable as possable, many thanks to you all. We will definatly return again in the future.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff.
Room was nice but could do with a few touch ups to bathroom walls and ceiling to clear flaking paint and cracks. Although in these times with money being hard to get hold of, its probably not a huge priority.

As I had to make a hurried booking to come down to the south coast to visit a failing elderly friend, I just took the first reasonably priced hotel which online booking brought up. It happened to be the Langham. I was very pleasantly surprised. Having booked a single room, I was given a spacious, comfortable and well furnished twin room, and the bathroom actually had a bath in it ! The breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and not ' help yourself from a breakfast bar' as in many hotels these days. The fixed price dinner was excellent value and cooked and presented to a high standard. Service in the restaurant at both breakfast and dinner was speedy, efficient and friendly. The whole hotel had a very friendly atmosphere where you were made to feel very welcome. I would certainly recommend the Langham.
