Pity we arrived when there was 3 coaches of school children visiting.
Didn't manage to see everything or go up the top turrets too many children up and down the stairs.
Will not visit againVisited on

Very interesting & wonderful. Has a museum full of information. Also lots of information boards for each artefact. The shop, run by a friendly helpful assistant, is really interestingly stocked. I bought somelovely gifts at a discount being an English Heritage member.
(Surrounded by grassy area with lots of friendly dog walkers)

We had wanted to visit Pevensey Castle for a while, and were very surprised to see the Roman walls relatively intact to say how old they are. We saw the disguised pill-box's where the roman wall was altered slightly for defensive combat during WW2. You can read and immerse yourself in the special exhibitions of Pevensey, from a Roman Fort to a Norman stronghold and WW2 command centre. The children loved the battlements and the dungeon, and interactive exhibits. We liked the fine collection of Trebuchet Balls. English Heritage now run the castle and hold events and re-enactments here. We thought prices were reasonable for public, concessions available and free for EH members. The castle grounds are free and well worth a walk around in their own right. Staff were helpful and friendly, with a shout out to Phillip who has a wealth of information ready to share with inquiring minds. Thank-you, we all enjoyed our visit.

Great castle steeped in history from the Romans through to the second world War. Well worth the visit along with the town which has some very old houses. Good museum. Friendly staff. And the church is worth a visit to see the crosses carved by the crusaders in the archwayVisited on

Unfortunately it was pouring with rain when we attended so didn't see it at its best. The audio guide was great though and gave a good explanation of the history and what we were looking at

Visited Bodiam Castle in the morning/early afternoon and came here after. There's a (charged) parking lot just next to the entrance. NT members can visit for free.

The castle has a long history. Starting as early as the 4th Century! Then being landing place of William the Conquerer and then in WWII as an emergency stronghold.

It's a wonderful castle, even though at some parts quite collapsed. But you're able to see some dungeons, walk on the walls and see a recreation of a '40s commanders office.

There's lots to see, lots of information to read. Staff here was really helpful and friendly.
And our Bulldog was allowed in as well. A very nice visit. Quite surprising that there were only a handful of visitors that (cloudy, but dry) day.

The grounds outside the castle are nice for a short walk as well.

Wonderful castle! The English heritage trust have preserved this well and is well equipped for visitors, lovely views and buildings and even activitys for the kids to do, very well thought out. The staff there were very helpful and informative and I really recommend going there. There is a nice mixture between Roman and medieval architecture at the castle grounds and even installments from world war 2.
