I have visited pomodoro e mozzarella before about 18 months ago, it was so good that we decided to go back again last night. The first time the food was excellent and it was out of season, so was quite quiet in there, with good service and above all the knowledge about gluten free food was fantastic. (Always a bonus when I can find a place that actually offers gluten free without asking) this time, however, I understand that the restaurant was busier but the service really was not up to scratch. Numerous times I would try and catch the waiter/waitress' eye to find they would ignore me or as I was asking them for a new fork/dessert/drink, before I had finished talking they were walking away. There were no apologies for how long the meals or drinks were taking and it was a real disappointment because their food was excellent. The relatives that had taken us there say they ate at the restaurant a few months previously and had received the same service, so were not encouraged to visit again after last night. Staff didn't seem rushed about anything either. Sorry to leave a negative review :(

We were just Italian students and we were looking for a good Italian place where to eat:the food was great and the taste really amazing! Everything was perfect from the staff passing trough all the wonderful atmosphere inside. We recommend Pomodoro and Mozzarella also for the really good prices and you can trust us..we're students so we really do not want to spend lots of money!

My husband and me went yesterday to this restaurant and I must say that the food was excellent! We ordered calzone pizza and spaguethi marinara and both of them were really nice! The restaurant is big but if you go, it is better calling them before in order to book a table. We will go again!

Have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. It is good authentic Italian Cuisine with out being pretentious or "trying to be arty. Good menu, well priced and served by friendly people. We always eat here if we are in the area.

Turned up late in the evening with no reservation. The restaurant was really busy but they still found us a table immediately.
The service was quick and friendly and the menu choices were HUGE. Decided on pizza, which was delicious, followed by profiteroles and creme caramel. Had coffee and a few beers and it still only came to £40. A bargain!
Wish we lived closer!

Never had a bad meal here, due to popularity it does get busy but sign of a good restaurant. The staff are always friendly and polite. Good for a quick pizza or for a whole evening.

After completing a 5km sea swim our daughter was seriously hungry.
Only problem is, two of us need gluten free which often causes us problems when eating out.A google search turned up this gem and we couldn't believe our luck.
The taxi driver dropping us off said we had made an excellent choice of restaurant. He wasn't wrong! There was a massive selection of pasta, pizza, salads and meat dishes. I don't think I've ever seen so many pasta dishes.
I had gluten free spaghetti marinara which was to die for. The children had gluten free pizza which were huge and delicious (I had to try a piece!) For desert we were surprised and suspicious when we saw gluten free profiteroles.
Of course we ordered them and scofferd them down. But they were so much like normal profiteroles I asked how they made them. I was worried they contained wheat flour. The owner of the restaurant came over and was delightful. He explained how they were made and even gave me the recipe! Allaying any fears I may have had and exciting my daughter who now wants them at home!
Overall a fantastic restaurant with lovely staff and delicious food. We felt safe eating wheat free and have had no ill effects. We went at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and as we left at 5.30 it was starting to get busy. 4 was a great time to go if you are with kids.
Would recommend 100%

Its the first time I've probably eaten in Eastbourne for some 25 years so what better than to meet Friends and have such a great eating experience on my return to the Town!
Out Lunch was masterminded by Rui - pronounced Rooeee - who coordinated a special team of waiters who were professional and speedy throughout. We were twelve of us with different tastes and variants of choices, courses and drinks. Nothing fazed them.
The food was excellent with a wide choice for the Lunch menu which meant there was no need to touch the A La Carte offerings. To explain the choice of the three "£££" symbol below I did find the prices - particularly drinks - more pricey than where I live in Wales but I imagine they are on a par with what people are we to paying on the South Coast of England.
In summary the whole time in this restaurant was brilliant. If I'm ever back in Eastbourne this restaurant will be number one on my list to eat. Thank you all.

For a long time I didn't "get" why people raved about Pomodoro e Mozzarella. It's a really large restaurant, which used to put me off (I used to grumble that it was like eating in an airport restaurant). It's decorated in blue and yellow, which I also didn't like - it felt a bit tacky and garish. In all honesty, I had only eaten there a couple of times, both times with parties of workfriends, and I didn't take the time properly to consider the place.
After I had been to Rome, someone said to me that Pomodoro e Mozzarella was like a Roman pizzeria, and that was like a bit of a revelation. It's true! Yes, it IS a large restaurant, but it's often full and it really buzzes - with families and groups. The blue and yellowness suddenly seemed less offensive when I imagined how I would feel about it on a busy Roman square. The staff are mostly Italian it seems, and it usually seems to me that Italian people like eating there too.
Most importantly, the pizzas are excellent (you can buy them to take away too: they are priced competitively when compared to the usual suspects; they are soooo much nicer; and the owners chat and make jokes with you when you collect). My favourite is the Gabriele (tomato, mozzarella, mushrooms, Italian spicy sausage, ham, onions, black olives and grilled artichokes).
If eating in, try to sit on the kitchen side, where you get to watch the chefs in action. I think I'm right in saying they have a sister restaurant next door (La Locanda del Duca, with a slightly more upmarket menu. I often ask me if they will do me spaghetti with clams, which isn't on the menu but is next door, and they have no problem with the request. This makes it sound as though Pomodoro's menu is limited. It isn't, I can assure you - there is a full range of choices (you can see it online on their website), and they do great value weekday evening formulas, and they'll serve you as long as you get there before 10.30pm - not to be sniffed at in little ol'Eastbourne.
Situated just a short walk from the sea, near the memorial roundabout, go for an after dinner stroll to the beach and, on the way, check out the amazing 1930s mansion flats opposite the restaurant at Pearl Court - their modernist stylings and the street-lined with palm trees on a balmy summer night are quite something.

Our B&B host recommended this restaurant to us but warned us we were unlikely to get a table without a reservation. We called at 6.30pm and they had a table available at 7pm so we made the booking. It was very busy, so glad we had called first.
The restaurant is very large and the menu equally large. I actually gasped when I saw the long list of past options. There are some vegetarian options and they are properly aware of what to mark as vegetarian - cheeses that use rennet in their production mean the dish is not marked with a V.
We were seated after a short wait for the table to be reset with a fresh table cloth (we saw this often - no brushing off the table in between parties, always a fresh cloth). Service was fine and our order was taken promptly, the food arrived reasonably quick given how busy they were. The pizza base was gorgeous - very thin. The toppings were fresh, though in the great debate over sauce/cheese ratios, I would have preferred a little more sauce, little less cheese though of course this is just personal preference. The size was generous for one person. My dining companion raved over his pasta and said he would have licked the plate if he thought he could get away with it. The brand of mineral water they used was delicious, very gentle fizzy bubbles.
The desserts were absolutely gorgeous. We had trouble choosing from the range on offer and were both happy with our choices. Beautifully presented, just the right size and flavours and textures were excellent.
The restaurant was a comfortable temperature given it was the hottest day that year and the humidity was up with pending thunderstorms. We were happily comfortable the whole time.
Would certainly be back again on any future visit to Eastbourne.

Went here two weeks in a row. Evening was noisy. Lunchtime was more relaxed. Service and food excellent on both occasions. Limited choice I suppose but if you want Italian food and are working to a budget it is good value. Student special offer at lunchtime which was being well used. A charge of 10% added for tables of 10 or more which is possibly why some patrons were coming in as a group of 8?

We landed on this place late at night walking around Eastborne trying to find some dinner. Luckily this place was bustling and had room available for us. We ordered pizza and prawn pasta, wow what can I say. Pizza was perfection and the pasta was to die for. We would def come back again and recommend to family and friends.

The food and service at this restaurant are excellent. We dined as a party of 10 and there were several other large parties in at the time but the food was served quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals greatly. The food is reasonable priced and good quality with a massive choice of dishes. The puddings were much better than many Italian restaurants. The staff are a real asset and make a lot of effort to look after the customers. Many restaurants could learn a lot from this place.

Friends who live in Eastbourne had booked us a table at this restaurant for dinner on Saturday night and we were all very impressed. We were a party of 10 people and it is not easy to impress every member of a group but Pomodoro e Mozzarella managed it. The food was really nice, there is a big choice but everyone of us was very happy with the quality of what we ate. What really made the night for most of us though was the service. Although I don't know the waiter's name, it was so nice to be served by someone with a good personality and a sense of humour, he is definitely a credit to the restaurant and I will go back if I visit Eastbourne again.

Went there not thinking we'd need to book at such a
big restaurant on a Wednesday night but we were lucky toget in. Thought the worst when we saw how busy it was but
the service was well organised and efficient. The food wasvery good also. I had sea bass fillets which were lovely and
my husband had loin of lamb which he said were very good.Don 't know if they are connected to Locanda Del Duca next
door but a similar menu. Different atmosphere though- thisis much noisier but had good ambience. Again, would
come back when next in Eastbourne.

Stumbled on this restaurant accidentally and was impressed. It was very clean looking and service was excellent we didn't want a great deal to eat but the portion was large. It was so tasty that I managed to polish off the whole lot. Sunday to Fri they have offers on 2 and 3 course meals which were well worth it . Would definitely return

this is a terrific restaurant for people with coeliac with a very very very large choice - and all puddings suitable! the food was good, the service was fine. What let it down though is this was our first visit here - but clearly we weren't 'friends' with the owner ... others got much much much better service- we were treated brusqly (sp?!!) and were told we had to sit in a corner of the restaurant as they were busy (we had booked a table!!)
Shame about the service, as the food was perfect.

Went here with friends after hearing favourable reviews. The food was delicious and piping hot. However, unlike other reviewers, we experienced poor service. The water came across as arrogant and surly. One of our group ordered soup and two ordered garlic mushrooms for starters. We were surprised when they came without bread. We asked the waiter if we could have bread, and he replied that we could if we ordered it from the menu. Surprising that something so simple is an additional item and has to be paid for. His manner was brusque throughout the meal and spoiled what should have been an enjoyable evening.
