We watched Heneritta Hippo with my 3 year old it was brilliant and have booked to go again. My son loved it and the show gets the children involved which is great.

We went to support our granddaughter in the Show and were so proud to see her I this excellent production. Every performer was tailor made for their part and the standard and proffessionalism of the Show was wonderful, well done to the whole team.

Was the first time I have been to The Hippodrome and went to see the Little mermaid with my 4 year old. We thought it was wonderful and the staff were brilliant. Parking was a bit of a pain but once we made it to the theatre with minutes to spare we had a great morning and were sad to leave. Only thing that spoiled it was people in the seats behind having a constant picnic!!! Needless to say it kind of ruined the atmosphere but my 4 year old daughter will never forget her first visit to the Hippodrome. Thank you!!

I've been to this lovely theatre in Eastbourne twice now and seen two great shows by the Community Theatre there - a really talented group of performers of all ages. This was a visit to see 'The Little Mermaid' and the direction, choreography, singing, design and costumes were really great and much appreciated by the packed house of youngsters and Adults. A perfect half term show. The theatre however would really benefit from some money being spent on it! It's a little tired looking and once the curtain goes up it's pretty cold!! Nothing detracts from the joy of the performances that I have seen there BUT a face-lift for this lovely old theatre would be money very well spent :-)

Went to see Little Mermaid Jnr with two of my grandchildren. They were absolutely enthralled! The cast were fantastic, professional and mingled amongst the audience during half time for impromptu photos with the kids. It was a superb production by some brilliant young talent - all in good voice! Great effects and just the right length for small children. Only downside - rubbish sweets on sale! My youngsters like just chocolate or popcorn but there was only a small selection on sale - I would have bought some outside if I had known. First time to this old theatre and would definitely go again - very cosy!

Took my 4 year old daughter to see The Little Mermaid for her birthday treat. She loved it.....and so did I. The cast came and sang happy birthday to her which made the experience special for her. It was a morning performance but the parking was a nightmare. I will look at other forthcoming shows as I would like to go back again......but next time I visit the Hippodrome I will leave a lot more time to find a parking space.

Loved this old theatre - the night we went though (Richard Digence) there was a terrible draft (even Richard commented) but that aside great to see that this old theatre is still in business would visit again (but with a jumper on during the winter month's)

Went to see this show, never been to The Hippodrome before , although we only live up the road. Terrible Day but the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Lovely Theatre, very good atmosphere, nobody is very far from the stage which makes it cosy. Show was also excellent. Only downside was parking, as it was an afternoon performance there wasn't anywhere close to park. However it didn't stop us enjoying the Theatre or the Show.

It's a great venue with an amazing atmosphere. This beautiful old theatre (oldest in town) was threatened with closure until a four brilliant guys took on its management (whilst holding down full time jobs). They have recruited very willing volunteers to usher, who are always friendly and helpful and willing to join in with any audience participation, leading to a great evening of fun. The fact that these people have managed to keep this lovely theatre open has meant that some great entertainment has come to Eastbourne. Patrons and performers alike have been extremely complimentary on trip advisor, facebook and twitter, and rightly so!

What a lovely theatre. From when we first walked in, the staff were very helpful and cheery. The show was great, bit of a queue at the bar but that's the norm in theatres now. The facilities were very clean and well maintained and it is just around the corner from our guest house.

The royal hippodrome has yet again put on another fantastic show. The Jive Aces. They set the whole audience buzzing lll evening and received a standing ovation. I am thrilled that the present management are able to put on great acts with little funding and relying on volunteers to help run the theatre. Well done and look forward to a great 2014

We went to see White Christmas at the Royal Hippodrome on 1st January 2014. We had never visited this theatre before and I had no idea what the story of White Christmas is (beyond the obvious) - it was really just something to do as the gale force wind and rain was not conducive to any outdoor activity. However: WOW, what a great show with a brilliantly talented cast and musicians - many of whom were local people. The story was quite unexpected - if you don't know it, I'm not telling you - go and see for yourself. You have until tomorrow, 4th January (final showing)! The theatre itself is old, charming and traditional with great character - spotlessly clean too. It's vital that heritage theatres like this are preserved, so please do support it if you are in or around Eastbourne.

Travelled down to eastbourne from Reading to meet up with my family to watch this fantastic show in an amazing hidden gem of a theatre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only criticism would be that it was rather chilly inside that did affect how my elderly grandparents enjoyed the show - although it should be noted the heating was on, just its so big and old that maybe turn it on earlier to heat it up for longer?
Now the show....FANTASTIC with the stand out star of the show being the actress playing the role of Betty, played by Meghan Rayner. However the entire cast were brilliant and made for an enjoyable and feel good christmas experience. On til 4th Jan 2013 and highly recommend both the show and the theatre.

Went to see Miranda Hart with my daughter. It was amazing!!! It was her warm up tour and she was fab. The Theatre is very nostalgic. It is like going back in time. Unfortunately we were both sitting behind a pillar and struggled to see but in the interval we managed to move seats. We weren't near the front but we could see and hear everything very clearly. The seats were very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. I have now booked to go and see another show early in the New Year!!!

I grew up in eastbourne but had never been to the royal hippodrome theatre before. I visit four or five times a year to visit relatives and saw this was on over the festive period so booked Boxing Day. What a treat. The theatre is lovely. A lot of work has gone into restoration and more (and money) is needed. However, a really lovely experience, comfortable seats and there is a bar, everything like the Devonshire Park theatre up the road, but on a small scale. The Royal Hippodrome theatre group put on a fabulous show. Acting, singing, music, scenery, costumes etc., all very well done. We had a lovely time and will look out for shows that coincide with visits in future.

The Royal Hippodrome Theatre is in a great location close to the town centre with comfortable seating and a fabulous view of the stage from all locations. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive and happy to answer any questions you may have. There is a bar area serving hot, cold and alcoholic drinks and all areas of the theatre were clean and tidy.

This is a lovely venue to see a show and well worth a visit.

On 23rd November we went to see the Ultimate tribute to the Jersey Boys by the Sherry Baby's and what a good night we had. O.K. It might be cold in the theatre but there are plans to update this beautiful 130 year old theatre and I imagine that would include heating. The staff are very attentive and we were shown to our seats with a smile and a chat. There were hot drinks available as well as cold and alcoholic ones.
The show was wonderful and the cast worked really hard at involving the audience and encouraged us all to take photos and videos. . People were dancing in the rows and aisles and the staff really got involved.
It felt like a friend/family party. Please dont hesitate to visit this lovely little theatre you will be pleasantly surprised.
