Although the theatre was pretty packed for the Suggs show, the seats we chose were perfect and we had an excellent view. The theatre staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and the pre show drinks we had were good value. We even managed to get a specially signed programme thanks to one of the theatre staff who then came out into the audience before and during the show to issue us with a "fortune fish". All in all a very entertaining and memorable night had by all, and we are already thinking about booking our next show!

Excellent evenings entertainment, lovely old theatre, staff very helpful. If the Carpenters are for you, don't miss this show.
Surprised how many songs we knew the words to.

Excellent show on 17th May 2014. Clare Furley is fantastic, really sounds like Karen Carpenter, and sings all of the Carpenters favourite songs. Phil Aldridge and the band provide excellent backing and authentic arrangements. Highly recommended show which reminds us just how wonderful the Carpenters songs are!

Thanks to the Royal Hippodrome Theatre for putting on another great "one night" show. We have already seen Sophie Evans, Paul Daniels, Miranda Hart Work in Progress and the Illegal Eagles.

Staff are very friendly and make you welcome. It is good to see this theatre being restored to its former glory and I hope it keeps up the good work and gets the audience support that it deserves.

The Royal Hippodrome is a really lovely theatre which exudes old world charm. Staff vey friendly and helpful. I went to see the Carpenter's Story on 17th May. This show is on tour and is a must for all Carpenter's fans. You could have believed Karen Carpenter was there singing all her best loved songs! A really talented group. It was wonderful!.
Well done to such a little theatre putting on a good variety of shows - I have been told the "Illegal Eagles " will be back later in the year - hope I can get to it as have heard it is great!

entertaining show, nice theatre although needs a lick of paint. Cast enthusiastic. Bit pricey I thought though. Illusions quite well performed.

Nice theatre with very easy disabled access and very friendly staff. The seats were more spacious than those at the much bigger Congress theatre and the facilities were generally good with an almost miraculous well priced bar and excellent views of the stage

The show - was basically a histology of the singers and probably all the better for this (I somehow expected to be more a play around their life story). As it was it was excellent and the centre point of a very enjoyable evening with both good singers and musicians and of course excellent songs and music!

This is a favourite little theatre, even though as mentioned by others it is in need of some financial help to restore it to its former glory. I was there in the audience for the evening with Suggs on Thursday 15th. The intimacy of these older, smaller theatres cannot be matched by any modern day soulless box of a venue. It is great to feel part of an evening of entertainment that allows you to be so close and involved with the show that you are watching from wherever you may be seated. Eastbourne is truly fortunate to have two theatres such as the Royal Hippodrome and The Devonshire. The staff in both venues are mostly volunteers and very enthusiastic and helpful whenever I have visited either. I hope that these theatres continue to enjoy the support that they so deserve to keep them running.

Whether in the stalls or the circle the view of the stage is excellent. For Suggs I sat three rows from the front the view and sound were excellent, as was Suggs. The staff and volunteers are extremely welcoming which enhances your visit even more as they clearly enjoy what they are doing. The programme planned for this theatre is well thought out and I would highly recommend seeing a show here. Oh, and if you haven't seen Suggs, you should, laughed all the way through!

Went to see Suggs 'My Life in Words'. What a wonderful evening. This is a quant little theatre full of old world charm, all that is missing is Royalty in the box. It has a lovely atmosphere, and you enjoy a certain intimacy being quite small.

What a wonderful show. Enjoyable from beginning to end with lots of memorable songs, excellent costumes and the dances were also very good, especially the youngsters. Even the magician was good. We had a brilliant evening. Picked up from the hotel and taken back for just £1 made it so easy. Well done everyone,

the best i've seen in a long time, one classic song after another, feet tapping during the whole time, no voice from all the singing.........and what better place to be held than the Royal Hipperdrome

Was there last night to watch the Unforgettable Show. Great singers, very professional and some great song mix. I have read other comments on here about "terrible parking" - it's the same in every town, why expect to be able to park outside. This is a busy seaside town with lots of visitors, just get here earlier. Yes the theatre is tired but until the money comes through to renovate it, just enjoy it. It's clean at least and a wonderful place to watch a show.
Will definately go back as it seems there are some good shows coming up this year.

Visited to see the illegal Eagles so it was packed... But no real restrictions regarding view of the stage , comfy seats and roomy. Bar for the interval is tiny but my only criticism is drinks being served in plastic glasses, with wobbly bottoms! Seriously! Can we not have glass ones please.

This is the first time I had been to the hippodrome and it certainly won't be the last. Gorgeous little theatre, full of charm and easily accessible. Saw the Illegal Eagles on Friday evening and the show was absolutely brilliant! A fantastic group of multi talented musicians, the music produced was of the highest standard. Truly awesome evening, would happily see them again and have no hesitation recommending them. A must see!

Nice cosy little theater with good view of stage all round. Only criticism is lack of leg room as I am over six feet tall. built in a time when the average height was well under six feet tall. Band were very good and would go see them again. All in all a good night out

We have been following the Illegal Eagles for some years and must have seen them on 5 or 6 occasions, they seem to improve everytime we see them and the latest line up has taken them up a notch. It was lovely to see them in such a lovely setting and the general ambience and service of the staff was of a high order. We will certainly visit again despite the problems with parking which are not the Theatre's fault, I was'nt expecting to get so much exercise but a long walk to our car did us no harm. Our friends enjoyed it as well, it was there first time there as well and they thought the Illegal Eagles were superb and the setting equally as good.

This is a gem in Eastbourne's crown that not a lot of people realise is here. Whilst I saw the Little Mermaid production this wasn't my first time here and every time it never fails to amaze me. Friendly staff, reasonable ticket prices and a beautiful close theatre, this place needs to be supported.
