The show was reasonable for the seaside. Don`t think that they would pass the first round on the X factor. However, the Hippodrome Theatre is 131 years old - well worth a visit - would have shined better with sow going back to the 50`s / 70`s. So we had a good £15 worth,

We visited when we stayed in Eastbourne. It is a lovely Theatre
and very comfortable. I guess it is very old as a few of the Theatres in Eastbourne are but there is always something going on

I went to see this play on Saturday 28th June and really enjoyed it. It was a murder mystery where you had to pick out the murderer after finding the clues in the play. The actors were really good, and I particularly liked the way they involved the audience in the plot. I didn't get the murderer right though, I thought it was Inspector Berkley.
I had been looking forward to seeing this play since my friend bought the tickets, and it didn't let me down. I was laughing all the way through.
I hope they do this play, or something like it again. It was a great night out!

Although it was an amateur production, it was excellent, a really good evening, and the staff were very pleasant

I was fortunate to be part of a 100 strong choir Voices that performed at the Royal Hippodrome recently. It was a privilege to tread the boards of this beautiful old theatre where so many famous and great names from the past have appeared. The acoustics are excellent and the seating for the audience comfortable. Most of all this historic theatre is a focal point for theatrical entertainment in a seaside town. Like many small theatres all over the country it struggles to survive but thanks to its dedicated team of volunteers who tirelessly work towards ingenious ways to continue the restoration work and keep it afloat, hopefully it's future looks optimistic. By visiting and seeing a show, you will help secure the future of this beautiful old theatre.

Thoroughly enjoyed this romp of a play! It's the first play I have been to that involved the audience in the plot. It was great fun!

This play, being a pilot, was only on for the one night.......but I would go to see it again tomorrow. I got the chance to see new, up and coming actors play their debut performance on a theatre stage, along with more seasoned actors. The whole experience was really great, and I hope they do more of the same. I will certainly book MY ticket!

VERY WELL DONE!

The Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne is one of the few venues that offers a top rate experience from BOTH sides of the curtain! I have been a visitor to this theatre, and found it to be great , both in the standard of productions there, and the whole theatre going experience.
Last night I directed over 100 members of VOICES choir on stage at the Royal Hippodrome, and it could not have been made easier for us to just get on and perform. Staff were incredibly helpful and polite, and the stage crew experienced and willing to go the extra mile to make the evening the huge success it was. In short, whether you are a theatre-goer or looking to put on a play/musical/recital etc, I recommend the Hippo without reserve......in fact, I actively encourage everyone to use the theatre, which will help with the ongoing restoration of this historic and much loved site.
Diana Terry, singer, actress and Director of VOICES choir.

Have been to several concerts now at this lovely and lovingly renovated old theatre. Great acoustics, comfy seats, wonderfully welcoming atmosphere - I believe front-of-house people are all volunteers - a real gem. The place feels full of love!

We had a fantastic night at the Royal Hippodrome. The Drifters were amazing. Professional, charismatic with huge stage presence and wonderful music. It was great to see members of security bopping away to the songs!

Saw The Drifters at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre on Saturday 21 June. The staff at the theatre are very welcoming and to see a band like the Drifters there was a truly amazing experience. They were fantastic. More like this please as me and my friend can't wait to visit there again

I have recently attended two shows at the Royal Hippodrome in Eastbourne and although not reviewing those shows would say that if you can find something in their programme( which is getting more extensive) which you think you might enjoy, it's worth the visit to appreciate this delightful old theatre. Found the staff helpful, seating comfortable and atmosphere wonderful. Tickets reasonable priced for the events I attendedd. Summer show coming up worth an evening out.

A local dramatic society working so hard to keep this theatre as a going concern. beautiful building and cast very enthusiastic. Loved watching the youngsters - but all were dedicated. However, the tickets were over-priced and didn't warrant £16.p.p.!

We went for the Legal Eagles show and had not been in this wonderful theatre for about forty years.
The atmosphere was fantastic and in spite of ancient seating we had a very special evening. The staff here obviously have pride and pleasure working in such an historical gem. Come on Eastbourne support the Hippodrome or you could loose it.

PS The Illegal Eagles are coming back in the autumn, nostalgia is not dead at all give it a go you will enjoy it .

I am a bit dubious about going to see tributes acts as some can be disappointing but this brilliant show - 'The Simon and Garfunkel Story' - is truly one not to be missed. Currently on a UK tour, not surprisingly many of the venues are sell-outs. Make sure you get your ticket in advance. New dates are being added all the time, so check out the show's website for all the latest info.
'Art' and 'Paul' are highly professional performers, backed by some talented musicians. All the old favourites feature - 'Sound of Silence', 'I am a Rock', 'Scarborough Fair', 'America'... and 'Art's rendition of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' sends shivers down the spine. He owned the stage.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening. All the musicians connected so well with the audience and were available after the show to chat to. Their CD is worth buying.

Just to say we have lived in Eastbourne for 14 years and this is the first time we have been to the Hippodrome, and oh what a treasure we have missed. Lots of leg room, comfortable seats, good views, friendly staff, very stylishly renovated, and even the show was excellent. We have now been to an audience with Honor Blackman, and are going to book for Lonny Donnegan Jnr. We love the theatre.

Although the theatre was pretty packed for the Suggs show, the seats we chose were perfect and we had an excellent view. The theatre staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and the pre show drinks we had were good value. We even managed to get a specially signed programme thanks to one of the theatre staff who then came out into the audience before and during the show to issue us with a "fortune fish". All in all a very entertaining and memorable night had by all, and we are already thinking about booking our next show!

Excellent evenings entertainment, lovely old theatre, staff very helpful. If the Carpenters are for you, don't miss this show.
Surprised how many songs we knew the words to.

Excellent show on 17th May 2014. Clare Furley is fantastic, really sounds like Karen Carpenter, and sings all of the Carpenters favourite songs. Phil Aldridge and the band provide excellent backing and authentic arrangements. Highly recommended show which reminds us just how wonderful the Carpenters songs are!

Thanks to the Royal Hippodrome Theatre for putting on another great "one night" show. We have already seen Sophie Evans, Paul Daniels, Miranda Hart Work in Progress and the Illegal Eagles.

Staff are very friendly and make you welcome. It is good to see this theatre being restored to its former glory and I hope it keeps up the good work and gets the audience support that it deserves.

The Royal Hippodrome is a really lovely theatre which exudes old world charm. Staff vey friendly and helpful. I went to see the Carpenter's Story on 17th May. This show is on tour and is a must for all Carpenter's fans. You could have believed Karen Carpenter was there singing all her best loved songs! A really talented group. It was wonderful!.
Well done to such a little theatre putting on a good variety of shows - I have been told the "Illegal Eagles " will be back later in the year - hope I can get to it as have heard it is great!
