This is a great area to visit. Interesting to see the boats entering by way of a Lock system. Plenty of restaurants a couple of bars and plenty of boats!!!

Exactly what it says on the tin 'Marina' boat sales, places to eat, boat trips around the marina, mixture modern housing and flats, car parking free, walks to sea lock to watch boats coming and going possible with planning to walk circuit going over lock bridge and coming back via bridge near shops/restaurants. Small public loos near car park but you will need to be very observant.

We walked from Eastbourne to Sovereign a distance of three miles. There is a retail park and plenty of restaurants to refresh the weary traveller. The harbour is pretty with a working dock and the return walk was worth the views of this area.

if you park in the harbour car park for free you can walk along the colonnade to the few shops this harbour has to offer. There is a mixture of Thai, Italian and, English restaurants.

Lively marina, with well laid out paths around the area. A chance to watch the locks operating to allow boats to enter and exit the marina. The lifeboat is moored here, so always the possibility of seeing it answer a 'shout'. A good choice of restaurants, which also offer outside seating, so a chance to soak up the sun while enjoying a lovely meal. Also the chance to see our harbour seal basking on the sandbank.
Adjoining retail park offers reasonable variety of shops if you feel the need for some retail therapy.

Wide choice of restauarnts and a bar with live music on certain days. Suit all budgets and tastes. Interesting walk around the harbour crossing over the lock where usually at low tide at least 1 seal regularly sunbathes on the sand banks. Boat trips available around the harbour or motor boat to Beachey Head and back.
Toilets available by wedding dress shop.
Live bands at the Garden Bar on most friday nights.
Large shops, Asda, Next, Boots, recently opened Wilko's, Cinema, Furniture shop, Matalan, TK Max.
Plans are ahead to update shopping facilities ad the Cinema looks as if it may closeas new Cinema to evtually open at the Arndale Centre in Eastbourne Town.

A very popular place when the sun is out in summer and al fresco dining is provided by most restaurants. Good walks all around the harbour and if you want a sea view, then walk up to the locks and walk East along by the shingle beach. Barking dogs and inconsiderate people shouting without realising how far a voice can travel in the sea air can be irksome on occasion if you want some peace and quite - while sat on your boat or in your apartment or having an al fresco meal! Avoid The Harvester like the plague unless you feel like punishing yourself.

This is a nice harbour to explore with independent cafes and resturants. One small comment it's extremely hard to get to and back from the bus stop. The bus stop advertised on site isn't in use.

Stopped off for lunch, great views over the harbour and some shopping as well. The mariner is full of boats, felt like we were abroad somewhere. Great little place.

Sovereign Harbour is Eastbourne's jewel in the crown. A beautiful place to relax, dine, enjoy a drink or a coffee, etc. Indian, Italian, Thai, Fish & Chip restaurants offer great choice of dining. A must place to visit.

Apart from the various marine craft take a look at the surrounding buildings; all relatively new but they will age well. There appears to be a slight "dutch" influence in some of the waterside buildings.

The marina is pretty much surrounded by fairly recent housing developments of brick and concrete, which overlook the enclosed water. Walking around the paths along the waterfront, you'll be very luck to sight the sea, as most of the outlook is of buildings on the other side.

However, if you enjoy water or boats, there is plenty to see, and at the centre of the marina is a small mall hosting a number of restaurants / cafes / bars, and a few shops.

Access around is wheelchair / pushchair friendly, and mainly on the level, save for a few ramps at a number of water crossings.

A nice walk, but nothing amazingly special or spectacular...

We walked from our hotel along the promenade to the Marina a distance of some 4 miles and thoroughly enjoyed the walk. The marina itself is very modern with beautiful properties all around. At the marina there is quite a mix of restaurants and cafes/bars and the majority offer outside seating to enjoy the views over the marina. Worth a visit if in the area.

Sovereign Harbour is a very large marina divided by a bridge. There are very many boats off all shapes and sizes, several for sale and whilst it was quiet early on a Sunday morning it was very enjoyable to walk around. There are a few shops and restaurants and a large, free car park.

I read reviews with interest and of course we all have different expectations of places. The harbour is bustling on warm sunny days, you can sit outside of a few restaurants and have a drink or food, dogs are allowed outside at all of the waterfront eateries. You get a great view of the boats from the outside seating areas and it's busy at peak times. There are 2 Mediterranean restaurants, 1 Thai, 2 bars, a cafe, an Indian, a restaurant that serves locally sourced food, the harbour grill for kebabs and Fish & Chips and American style diner. The Harvester is what it is and not to my liking, I have been to all of the others apart from the kebab shop and all are very good. Away from the main part called The Waterfront you will find an Asda, Wilko, Next, Boots, Cinema and a furniture shop. It is a decent walk from ten main resort of Eastbourne but a nice walk along the seafront, about 2 miles. Public transport is not great especially at weekends and Bank Holidays but there are some buses and the Dotto train is great in the summer. You can drive and there is free parking. My favourite restaurants are Seasons, The Thai Marina and The Indian. There is a good walk around the Marina and you can watch the boats come in and out via the lock. The whole place is man made and this is worth remembering as it all had to be dug out! There are often seals in the outer harbour and plenty of grey mullet swimming in the inner harbour in the summer.

It was a long walk from eastbourne. We didn't plan that too well..
By the time we got there we was to tired to explore.
We had a meal then got a taxi back to our guest house.
I'd love to go back and have a proper look.
