A lovely place to while away a sunny morning. Stroll around the quays and admire the boats, take a boat trip round the harbour, explore the interesting the boutiques or just sit in one of the waterside cafes and relax! Ample free parking

Many people visit the Marina expecting to find a neat waterside shopping centre, however this is not the case - there are actually only two or three 'shops' as such (although the nearby Crumbles Retail Park) is a proper out of town shopping centre with a number of large chains present).

What you do get at the Marina is a decent range of eateries and places to grab a drink. Everything from a (very good) sandwich at Di Lietos to Italian, Thai or a Harvester meal. Coupled with a lovely waterside walk around the Marina on a sunny day it really is a lovely place to visit.

I was told there would be a lot of shops. There were only a couple. It is really a restaurant place with lots of choices.
It is set round a beautiful marina

Sovereign Harbour Marina seems to be a very well kept area with plenty of boats to see all moored up.
All new flats surround the marina done with great taste.
tthere is a Harvesters and coffee shops etc on one side of the harbour.
Parking just outside was ok.
A must see visit when in Eastbourne.

Visited on a cold and windy day but can imagine it would be lovely in the Summer. Had delicious coffee and pastries at Pablos.

Enjoyed ogling the yachts and cruisers. Good for restaurants but not many shops. Would be good in the summer to sit having a drink on the waterfront.

We walked 3 miles from Eastbourne Pier alongside the beach to Sovereign Harbour. We stopped outbound about halfway at a very nice beach front cafe where the staff were very welcoming. Got to the new Harbour which has an inner and outer entrance protected by loch gates. It's very modern and houses shops and restaurants. It's surrounded by expensive apartments as expectedon't. Nice 6 mile steady stroll.

Small Marina which is pleasant. A lovely place to live. Not sure why I see someone write about a block of housing estate flats ruining the view. As they are all new / private buildings. If you want a peaceful life this is the place. Although the only downfall is dog walkers not picking up their pets mess. Everyday I see it. Not on needs to be fixed.
Avoid the harvester on weekends as full of screaming kids & parents that don't seem to care their kids are disrupting others whilst eating. But what do you expect for a cheap place. The Thai & Italian restaurant at the harbour is the best food there. Shops include TK MAX, Boots, some cheap shoe shop & Asda's. So you will need to go
Too town for main shopping. Overall a nice place to be.

Have visited the sovereign harbour many times, plenty to see. Able to walk round it, watch the boats in and out of the lock gates. Plenty of places to eat, main meals or snacks. Close to the cinema and the shops at the crumbles. Have large free car park. I

Nice to watch the boats, (dream and pretend!) something for everyone food wise. Relaxing. Quriky little shops, a bit like the Lanes in Brighton.

I regularly go to the harbour to walk along the sea front, eat & drink with friends old and new and to take photographs.(Especially at night). It is not a large area which I think is part of its charm. Mainly a residential area as many beautiful apartments nearby.
It's a wonderful place to people watch and sip a glass of your tipple in the sunshine, watching the beautiful boats sailing in and out of the harbour and just as fun in the rain. The few cafe's and restaurants serve the area well and are always busy. My favourites being Seasons & Simply Italian. Not a large area but a friendly and happy place to be. There is also a harbour boat trip and one further afield for those who wish to go by sea to view the area. With bigger stores such as Asda and a cinema nearby in walking distance there is something for all.

Loved this place. Nice promenade along the harbour with beautiful boats on display. Excellent indoor and outdoors dining available. I was there in February but it must be buzzing in the summer!

We love the Sovereign Harbour Marina. The grandchildren always love it too. Some good restaurants for all tastes including the Harvester for family meals. My husband loves to watch the boats and daydream of the yatch he is going to own one day!! Gets a bit crowded on a sunny day but it's a lovely place to take a stroll.

If you are sailing in from the east, maybe from Dunkerque or Calais, you will have aimed to hit HW off Dungeness to have the tide with you all the way. However, this means you will reach Soveriegn on the last of the ebb. Take care, as the entrance frequently silts, and give the Barnhill (wreck to starboard) a reasonable offing.
From the west, you will probably be coming up with the last of the flood, so depth is not a problem, just don't turn in too soon.
Once in, follow the instructions from the marina. The locks have floating pontoons to tie to, so no drama hurling warps. Visitors berths are to port once through the lock, and the marina staff are very helpful and can recommend where to eat. Behind the quayside eateries there is a multi screen cinema and shopping centre. Although the supermarket is Asda, this is Eastbourne, so better than average and a good place to stock up.
Bit of a hike from Eastbourne, but if you have bikes, a good safe ride in along the seafront.

If you came by car, sorry! You are just there to provide some amusement for us sailors.

The latest place to be sampled was the Thai Marina Restaurant. A little on the expensive side but the service and food were first class. Will go again soon.
