Two nights dinner bed and breakfast here this week.

The wonderful staff and location really make this hotel. Having walked from the station, the greeting was lovely. I travel regularly around the world and treatment of single guests can be very hit and miss. Overall The Grand’s was excellent, courteous, polite and attentive without being cloying or OTT. I booked late so couldn’t get a reservation at a reasonable time at the Mirabelle. In the Garden restaurant the service was very good, with an excellent wine list. The food itself a little boring and signs of catering for the high numbers of guests, felt a little overpriced as a result. Breakfast was excellent if you do the traditional full English, one morning I had avocado on toast (very small) and a cappuccino, somehow this seemed to throw service and it took four requests to get my toast served.

My room (deluxe, sea view) was a good size and well equipped, comfortable and quiet.

Overall, I have very little time for a holiday this year, this largely gave me the brief stint of luxury I was after. The staff really make the place - thank you all for looking after me so well.

I’ll definitely come again, but will make sure I am able to get at least one dinner at Mirabelle.

I have stayed at this hotel several times as a couple and with family for special occasions but this time I came with my 16 year old granddaughter for a few days. A lovely hotel in the perfect setting right by the sea. It has a calm relaxing feel to it, two great swimming pools inside and out with sun beds. We had a master suite with a sea view which was very spacious and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and the food is good. I love this hotel and will definitely return.

A little disappointed with the dinner menu choices in both restaurants. Excellent breakfast and lunch.

I really enjoyed my spa afternoon gift in the lovely spa area that included a pool, steam room abd jacuzzi. Very pleasant staff and I saw a delightful therapist for a reflexology treatment. Very relaxing! After that a gorgeous afternoon tea in the lounge. Very impressive little cakes delicious sandwiches and refills of tea offered by the friendly staff. . Exquisite! Highly recommend whole experience.

Lovely hotel and great staff, but let down by dinners which took on average just over 2 hours to serve 3 courses. Meals were so-so and mainly devoid of veg!
Very arty but at the expense of substance!

The garden restaurant provides an excellent Sunday lunch, most often with a superb pianist providing background music. The staff are friendly and efficient.

Attended a wedding in June but didn't stay so I can't comment on the rooms. The function rooms are very nice and everything went like clockwork with the hotel staff playing their part and working very efficiently, the service at the wedding meal was excellent and considering the number of covers the food was good but didn't have any wow factor. There's limited parking on site. The Bride and Groom were happy so job done.

We stay in many very nice hotels and we had hoped this hotel would be traditional yet luxurious. Unfortunately it fell short:

The service at the front desk and concierge was exceptional, as expected in a 5 star hotel with this representation. Nothing we asked was ever too much.

We had a master suite and the room was equally lovely and very spacious.

However, there were lots of cigarette butts on the window ledge/ balcony and there were moths, spiders and cobwebs all over the bathroom. The turn down service was of a very low standard too. Our emptied bin contents were left in the middle of our bathroom and our self-ironed clothes were taken off the bed and placed in a large ball on a chair.

The food was substandard and the service at mealtimes was honestly appalling. The waiters must have been school/college leavers working during the summer before going off to university. The plates came out boiling hot, causing injury if touched. We found breakfast quite stressful and it dampened the enjoyment of our stay. Our evening meals were that of a 3 star hotel.

Such a shame as potentially this could have been a really traditional, classy and peaceful stay. It may be much better during a different season if current staff are school leavers.

July 24, 2022 (Sunday 1.30 - 3.15pm), Garden Restaurant - a very pleasant experience aside from good food from a well-known hotel.

The atmosphere of genuinely friendly / accommodating / non-discriminating staffs (never a pestering snobs - - like a fly on top of a cow) was well noted (from waitress/ waiters, doormen, receptionist-on-duty, lounge stewards) and should be mentioned, that made the experience memorable.

Definitely we will come back and for sure to be recommended to my family, friends & colleagues.

We have recently returned from a wonderful weekend break at The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne -it certainly lived up to its name; it’s an attractive, elegant, Victorian hotel with outstanding levels of service. We were delighted with our room – clean, spacious and had all one might expect from a 5-star hotel, we had booked a sea view room but were lucky as we had the added bonus of also having a lovely balcony complete with patio furniture and parasol. We ate in the Garden Restaurant – an attractive, traditional style restaurant – the food was excellent as were the levels of service. The hotel also has another restaurant The Mirabelle -but we did not use this so are unable to comment upon it. The hotel has many places where one can sit and relax: we enjoyed the live music in the Chatsworth Lounge on Saturday night but there is also another large lounge and cocktail bar if you prefer not to listen to the band. There are also a number of smaller seating areas dotted around the hotel plus outside seating areas. The hotel has both a heated outdoor pool plus an indoor pool – we enjoyed using both. There is also a gym but we did not use this so cannot comment upon it. The Grand is situated right on the seafront and is in easy reach of all Eastbourne has to offer. As the hotel was built long before cars were invented it is not surprising that it cannot offer parking spaces for every car; however, there is a car park for about 60 cars which can get full at certain times of the year. One can pre-book a parking space for £25 per night (free for blue badge holders) or take a chance and just turn up and hope space is available – if not, parking is available on the road outside or nearby which one has to pay for. Overall, this was a very enjoyable break; we would certainly consider visiting this hotel again if we were visiting this area.

Really nice hotel, step back in time with great decor and spacious rooms and bars/ restaurants.
Main restaurant closed on Sunday and Monday nights.
Afternoon tea fantastic, good breakfast.
Master suite really spacious, lots of amenities. Could do with a fridge!

Have been many many times to this hotel and we do love it, but I think the young girls in bar need some training as a lot of times had to wait to order drinks as they were chatting amongst themselves. Ate in garden restaurant on the Friday was very nice our waitress was obviously new but lovely. The evening entertainment was so old fashioned they have been there far too long I’m 68 and only recognised 2 songs. Where are all the ballroom dancers? Probably bored with band, it’s about time you had a bit more modern music, strictly come dancing have a more modern feel and can still have ballroom dancers. Love , I think his name is Tony the concierge he always recognises us and very professional. An asset to the Grand

We stayed one night at short notice, booked same day as stayed. Our room was very large but tried. I found cobwebs around the window in the bathroom and the toilet wasn’t very clean. The bed was also very uncomfortable.

I reported and took the cobwebs down to the front desk and they didn’t say very much, apart from sorry.

I found most of the staff very friendly and helpful apart from one woman on the front desk who was very matter of fact and I found her rude for a 5 star hotel.

I would think again before booking in at the hotel again.

Our room with breakfast costed £280.25 for the night!!

Exceptional service by Cole the concierge. Always smiling and ever so helpful. An absolute asset to the business. From assisting with luggage during check in to finding us lost a little bit later with directions to our room. Always checking that we enjoyed our afternoon tea and breakfast. He made our stay a memorable one.

We didn't stay there, but had Afternoon Tea as we had been given a voucher. The Tea was superb, very fresh, and served by extremely polite, friendly and helpful staff. Also, a very helpful young man on the main entrance helped my wife out of our car before I went to park it nearby.
Thanks for an excellent afternoon.

We had lunch here to celebrate my birthday. Cocktails were overly expensive - in excess of London prices. Food was proportionately priced and of a high standard, absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable and faultless. Staff both in the bar and restaurant were fabulous, professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend and will return in the future.

School reunion visit 6 ladies. Loved our time beautiful sea front hotel. All staff were excellent couldn’t fault it and food good. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the very poor cheap quality bedroom furniture and the state of the dressing rooms by the pool area. Ceiling tiles missing and falling down very very shabby

We thought we would treat ourselves to afternoon tea at the Grand having been told we must do by friends who had a few years ago.
Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations especially considering the price of £34.50pp. We have had much better teas for half the price. The waitresses, although very pleasant and helpful had not been trained properly and didn't know how to make a pot of tea, adding hot water to our cups instead of the pot. The food could have been better, nothing special.

The hotel may be a bit run down here and there but you will not get better service and hospitality in the area. Staff is exceptional, they know what they are doing and that’s why you want to stay at The Grand. Good things to know: hotel gym is fairly well equipped with cardio equipment as well as some free weights (unusual). There are both indoor and outdoor pools. The latter with the drink service available. Exquisite wine selection at all bars and restaurants. The Garden Restaurant is now known as The Mirabelle and offers fantastic fine dining experience. Breakfast selection is ok with cold buffet and cooked breakfast available. Whether it’s a special occasion or a break away I will come back there. Note that some of the rooms are being renovated so there may be some noise should you decide to spend your day in your hotel room.

Extremely pleasant stay. Fantastic setting and so convenient for getting around. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. We had asked for a room with a walk in shower, and this is what we got. Wonderful bed, quality towels and toiletries. Breakfast service fast, and cooked breakfast all you could ask for. Loved the heated outdoor pool!
