An impressive exterior (they don't call it the white palace for nothing) leads to some stunning classic interiors.

Our room was large and well appointed, heavenly bedding and towels.

Drinks in the bars or restaurants were consistently excellent.

The Garden Restaurant for dinner and breakfast was well staffed and very good food and presentation.

Mirabelle Restaurant for a taster menu with wine pairings (and fireworks outside) was a magical evening.

Pool, spa and gym are all wonderful and spotlessly clean. Shout out to Steph for a relaxing massage and nice chat.

This is an impressive hotel and not budget friendly but worth it.

But the best thing is actually the staff. Everyone is super friendly, sincere and takes time to chat.

Rita on reception is an example of the wonderful friendly service. Grazie bella!

Our family stayed 5 nights at this beautiful classic English hotel on the Eastbourne seafront.
Excellent service from lovely staff, special mention to Reece who made our arrival so pleasant and welcoming, and also the room service Laura who did a wonderful job and was most helpful and friendly.
We experienced the excellent food in the Garden Restaurant, there was a wide choice for breakfast from kippers to full English breakfast.
Enjoyed the facilities gym, steam room, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, and there was also snooker and table tennis.
We arrived the evening of the Airshow finale fireworks display, which was amazing to watch from our room.

Das Grand Hotel ist ein schönes altes Gebäude in einem Strandbad. Dementsprechend läuft das Publikum auch eher locker, legere herum und nicht so versnobt. Wir wurden eingeladen uns das Hotel auch von innen anzusehen und bekamen eine kleine Führung.

My Wife and I yesterday celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary 🌹 and our son Andrew surprised us by booking an Afternoon tea at The Grand Hotel.It turned out to be a fantastic Afternoon thanks to the treatment by all the people serving in the restaurant,it really was 5 star.So from my Wife and I big thank you.

Amazing location, beautiful hotel and very friendly staff! We'll be back again.

The hotel is appropriately named as it is truly grand.
We had a lovely 3 night stay with our 11 & 9 year old children:
5 star experience:
- Staff: Attentive and friendly
- Location: Great for beach and town centre
- Public spaces
- Gym: Good variety and quality of equipment
- Swimming pools: We only used the outdoor pool (a lot) and my kids would give this 10 stars!.Always warm, clean and not too much chlorine.

Just fell short:
- Parts of room were a little tired (room 8) e.g. stained carpet, noisy plumbing (trumpet-like sound -we think when room above / nearby flushed toilet?
- Breakfast: Last time we stayed (pre-pandemic), breakfast was a far more enjoyable experience. The continental breakfast is still a buffet but changing the cooked breakfast from buffet to table service is a backwards step for us. Perhaps this wouldn't have been such a problem if the service had been better. Each day we had to wait to attract a server's attention and then the food took at least 20-30 minutes to arrive. Quality of the food was good.
Our biggest issue with breakfast, and of the whole stay, was the requirement to book a timeslot for breakfast. This was a long way from a 5 star experience for us. When we checked in, the receptionist asked us to nominate a breakfast time for our stay... Although explained we could change future days as required. We wanted a relatively early start on morning 1 but when we tried to move the subsequent days to a later time, our preferred times were not available - so we had to have breakfast too early on day 2 and too late on day 3. I totally understand the desire to avoid all residents turning up for breakfast at the same time, but even by arriving exactly at our nominated times each day, service was still very slow. We feel the whole breakfast operation would benefit from a review. When on holiday, especially with children, we don't appreciate being forced to pre-plan a breakfast slot like a military operation .. we don't know exactly when we will want breakfast the next day!

Overall, the Grand remains a wonderful experience and we hope to return.

Friendly 5* traditional accommodation. Drinks and biscuits in rooms are complementary. Indoor and outdoor pools. Jacuzzi and Steam room. Gym. Food is good but expensive. There are lots of great restaurants nearby though. Some rooms overlook the sea and have balconies.

We booked for the outdoor BBQ during Airbourne where we were promised "the best seats in the house". However the trees at the front of the hotel obscured the view of the aircraft for most of the time which was very disappointing. As a consequence as soon as we had finished our meal we got up and went to the beach for an uninterrupted view.
The food was ok but it wasn't an outdoor BBQ, it was simply food cooked in the kitchen and brought outside.
The service was generally good but a little slow towards the end as they were obviously very busy and possibly needed more staff.
I love the old school grandeur of The Grand but it didn't really work for Airbourne.

Had a delicious Afternoon Tea!

We had a suite overlooking the gardens and outside pool and the sea was also visible. A spacious bedroom with an extremely comfortable king-size bed and a very roomy lounge area too. Due to the very hot weather an upright fan/air cooler was provided, but was inadequate for both rooms, so we had to keep moving it to and fro. One thing always surprises me with The Grand, is that it does not have built in room fridges, must be the only 5* hotel that does not. However, they do provide very small portable ones, just about enough room to store a couple of small bottles and little else.

The overall facilities in the hotel are second to none and the staff are always helpful and ever so friendly, nothing was too much for them. Two excellent restaurants, bar/lounge and poolside dining is also readily available, plus the serving of excellent afternoon teas.

The only real criticism I have of the Grand is the long and some times very long waits for your food, particularly at breakfast.. For instance one morning I ordered porridge, followed by a full English. 35 minutes passed with no sign of either. Eventually after 45 minutes just the full English appeared. I gave up on the porridge. I do recall this was a problem the last time we visited back in March. They obviously need to sort this out by ensuring by employing adequate staff in the kitchens and better communications between them and the waiting staff.

If it was not for the long waiting for ordered food, I would definitely give a 5* rating. However, for its charm, facilities, position and ambience, we shall be back.

The rooms are great and there is a real sense of grandeur as you come in. The food is very good. The two pools are excellent. The outdoor pool in particular is lovely. The breakfast was excellent. We also dined one day in the formal restaurant which was lovely. It’s very well located on the centre of town but has great sea views and feels very relaxing

Clean and beautifully decorated throughout, high quality and very well executed food served all day, a lovely outdoor pool and great indoor spa facilities, very friendly and accommodating staff, stunning views, spacious and well equipped large suites in the perfect location at the quieter end of EastBourne parade.

Everything was just perfect we had a lovely cream tea for our wedding anniversary. We also had a over night stay the room was very comfortable and we had an amazing view. The breakfast was very tasty I had a omelette with cheese and mushrooms it was cooked perfectly. My husband had the plant based breakfast which looked great and he said it was very nice. The Grand is well worth the price it is full of luxury and brilliant service and the staff are all very helpful.

This hotel is a classic case of understated luxury - the place is steeped in history and is quintessentially english in all its parts. The staff are very attentive but not overbearing - they know their stuff and are pleased to share with you their knowledge whether it be what wine to have, what gin to drink or where to go. There are some areas of the hotel that need attention but that can only be expected of a place that is nearly 150 years old. It caters for families, couples young and old. The food is excellent qaulity and at a level you would expect for the price point. Highly recommended.

A bit outdated, missing some key things from a luxury hotel like aircon or essentials like a fridge. Otherwise, an excellent stay. Complementary breakfast was superb, same as the service!

We stayed for 2nights stayed in room 226 which was lovely, staff are very helpful breakfast was very nice beautiful location we have rebooked for next year with our family for my husband s 70 th look forward to it

Good service but overpriced

Staying at the Grand Hotel with a dearest friend going through several bereavements was firstly an uplifting moment for life. All the staff were extremely helpful courteous friendly and sincere in their support. Great customer service. Good Facilities indoors and outdoors.. period building well kept fab decor for a more mature taste but infused with some modernisation.. Any time of year will be welcoming. Nice location accessible to various scenic areas. Had a really great time.

Superior service in an old world setting

Stayed for two nights and was seriously impressed with the service. Everyone we encountered, bell staff, cleaners, waiters, front desk went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The rooms were a great size and immaculate.

Although my partner and I did not stay at the Grand, we joined family for drinks, breakfast, and time around the pool. All the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Wide range of drinks and cocktails, and staff even accommodated drinks not specified on the menu like pina coladas and gin brambles! Although the cocktails are pricey (minimum £16.95) they were very good quality. Live music and dancing in the evening too. Range of food for breakfast was also very good - cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit and meats, fresh juices, freshly ground coffee, tea, pastries and a menu for hot food including omelettes, veggie and meat cooked breakfasts and much more. Food very flavoursome and cooked perfectly!
