We visited the Garden Restaurant for Sunday Lunch and from start to finish this was a fantastic experience. Upon arrival we were greeted with canapes and asked if we would like alcoholic beverages or coffees. The menu was supplied and we chose what we wanted and were then shown to our table where we were offered wine if required which we declined, we then had starters mine a delicious home made mushroom soup and my wife a feta cheese, fennel and grape salad, this was followed by a champagne sorbet and then a main course of roast beef ( cooked how you like it) Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, and fresh veg absolutely mouthwatering. The sweet trolley defies description, or cheese and biscuits with coffee to finish. Excellent service and smiling helpful staff made this an experience we are definitely going to repeat.

My husband and I stayed just for one night. The room was pleasant, albeit very hot, despite turning off the radiators. The food was very good in the Garden Room restaurant. We are used to a King size bed at home and the double bed in our room felt somewhat cramped. The water in the shower was lovely and hot and the towels nice and fluffy.

Step back in time in this beautiful and well maintained hotel. Staff very attentive but not overly so. Location great. Grounds immaculate. Room adequate but the chambermaid service was fantastic. We arrived after a very stressful few weeks but left totally relaxed and rejuvenated

It was like stepping back in time, the hotel is huge, with plenty of staff to cater for your every need, a roaring fire around which you can have afternoon tea, or sit relaxing in the ample lounge. The food was lovely and the staff very attentive. The only disappointment's were that we were unable to get any form of spa treatment even though the hotel was not fully booked (we had not booked ahead!!) and that the steam room was not working. Other than that a most enjoyable stay.

Stayed two nights as a treat. We were not disappointed and had a wonderful weekend.
It was all pretty much perfect. Beautiful large, clean and comfortable bedroom. Excellent service throughout the hotel.

Generally very good, exception being evening meal taken in Garden restaurant 1/11/17.
Some confusion on booking as poor availability of 'refurbished' De Luxe rooms, so had to incur extra costs to booked ' Side Sea View' room 133, although this room proved to be very comfortable, light & quiet.
Ate out in the town the second night, then show at Devonshire Park theatre - all excellent.
Blessed with great sunny weather during our stay.

Excellent stay with one issue regarding waiting time in the restaurant before starters served of approx. 50 mins.
there appears to be some confusion at the time of booking on the restaurant reservation. It was my daughters 21st birthday and i wanted the French restaurant but was told the reservation was in the garden restaurant. This obviously was a disappointment.

the hotel is still apparently, in being upgraded, but it needs to be speeded up some.

room was great except for badly cracked wash basin, at this price, a no no.

bed was wonderful and room service and cleanliness was top notch. good and simple tv but could not get wifi or radio to work, part of upgrade perhaps.

decor was fresh and wonder of wonder no flashing lights in the night.

the staff were all superb and the nationalities are amazing.

enjoyed but some finessing is really needed.

Have just spent 2 nights here as a birthday treat. Wow what an absolute pleasure. Had a few spa treatments which made me feel very special. The hotel was a joy to stay in. All the staff where absolutely faultless very helpful and welcoming. We dined at both restaurants and I enjoyed fabulous food. The 2 nights spent here I must say were one of the most enjoyable and beautiful experiences I have had. Thank you to my lovely husband for booking this. Now I would love to do it all again. Added bonus the weather was also on our side.

We came for our Silver Wedding Anniversary and got upgraded to a beautiful and very comfortable suite with sea views. The bed was super comfy and the hotel well heated. Everything was catered for, the staff were attentive the food wonderful. We ate at the Mirabelle where the food and service were superb. Room service food was also top quality. If I have only one criticism it is that dogs must be confined to your room which can be very limiting. There is a lovely bar area we were unable to use as no dogs are allowed in public areas. Altogether a very pleasant weekend - but a suggestion to review the dogs in no public areas policy is offered.

Third visit to this hotel in the last year. Staff are always helpful and courteous. Rooms with town view can sometimes be a bit compact and dark but are always clean and comfortable. Good location on the seafront within walking distance of theatres and the centre of town.

Five of us went for a one night spa break for my 50th birthday and had a wonderful time. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, the food was outstanding and the Spa and treatments we had were amazing. We will definately return!

We did the Telegraph offer for two days this week to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a great treat. The surroundings are wonderful and the staff could not be more friendly. The food was excellent. Maybe our room was a little tired looking? The spa facilities were brilliant and much used, especially after a 4 hour walk to Beachy Head and back! Thanks. We will return.

We took the offer from the telegraph which suggested good location and very good standard and we were not disappointed. We hope to receive future offers direct from the hotel and will take advantage when this happens.

Just back from a most enjoyable mid-week break at this excellent hotel. Superb service - it is clear that the staff are very well-trained and that they want guests to enjoy the experience of a good old-fashioned style of hotel. This is not to say that the hotel lacks modern amenities but simply that old-school manners do not go amiss. Good food, an unexpected room upgrade and a great location (to say nothing of surprisingly good weather) made this a memorable trip.

They know how to take care of you. From start to finish they know how to treat you. Old fashioned manners and the staff have respect for their job and their clientele. Made to feel part of the family.

A pleasant stay in relaxing surroundings. The sea view room on third floor gave a superb view of sea.
The room was spacious and well equipped and the bed was comfatable. Best to turn off the rads and leave window open at night, otherwise you may suffer from heat stroke in the morning. Plenty of hot water for bath or shower although for shower will take some adjusting. Service in restaurant could of been better, had to wait long time for wine and had to request water. Could do with more staff in Garden Restaurant. Regarding the spa facilities, not told when booking that steam room was broken and outdoor pool closed after October 29th. When outdoor pool is open temperature is a respectable 29C. All in all a good stay, warm weather and sun made a difference. Would go back again for fourth time, but would check about what's available in spa area first.

Excellent quality hotel in good location, we walked for 10 miles over Beechy Head. I had stayed at the Grand before, my wife hadn't. I knew she would enjoy the experience and she did. I earned a few "brownie" points!

It could not have been a more pleasant stay. The room was clean and full of character. The orchestra in the Palm court was a pleasant reminder of a more leasured period. The restaurant was good at both breakfast and dinner.Considering the size of the room it was not overpriced.
