This is a grand hotel in magnificent accommodation and only metres from the sea. The room was traditionally furnished, spacious and with high ceilings. The dining room was equally grand and the food expertly prepared and served. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent.

lovely old classic hotel that is clean and tidy. The room was of a nice size but the whole stay was let down by the lounge staff. we ordered 2 evening sandwiches off the small after 6pm menu, one was complete wrong so was commented on, it was replace with the wrong order a second time and finally the correct food arrived nearly an hour after the first sandwich had been eaten. we asked 3 times for a drink and in total took 2 1/2 hours to order and eat a sandwich on a quiet mid week evening. Such a shame as this was a birthday treat, the duty Manager deducted the cost from our bill and did apologise but unfortunately this did not really help the situation. we left feeling very let down.

Superb quality hotel well decorated and furnished , staff were very professional and courteous, service and quality of pre lunch drinks served in lounge were lovely.
Good served at lunch was well presented, piping hot and very tasty.
We were served coffee and petit fours in the lounge whilst listening to a classical trio play how quintessentially British.

Four of us went to the Mirabelle restaurant on Sat 30th May. The service was impeccable and the waiter and waitress very attentive throughout the evening.
I had the lamb and it was delicious, cooked to just how I liked it. The whole hotel oozes an old fashioned charm which you rarely find nowadays. After the meal we had an enjoyable hour in the lounge where we sat and watched couples dancing to a small group of instrumentalists and a female singer. A very, very nice evening and a group were very impressed. Would recommend.

We booked a deluxe double room and the room we were given looked absolutely nothing like the pictures on the website. It was half the size and was badly in need of renovating! Also the room overlooked ugly flat roofs where there were dead pigeons and the window was filthy!
We made reception aware of our dissatisfaction and we were immediately moved to a refurbished room which was much nicer and twice the size!
When I enquired as to why we weren't given a refurbished room in the first place they said they must have had a 'last minute cancellation' ??
The service at breakfast was extremely slow - we waited 15 minutes just for tea and coffee and people who sat down and ordered after us were served before us!
Overall very disappointing.

Our visit was for a high tea. Booked in the darkest winter months we had been looking forward to this. We were not disappointed. This is a luxury hotel and everything about it radiates quality. From your first approach staff greet you politely and are helpful. Ordering tea was again met by courteous attentive staff. Throughout the staff could not be more helpful and made our visit a complete delight. Definitely recommend tea at The Grand.

Well I live in Eastbourne, and this was my second visit. I did not stay at the hotel, but the staff were really helpful, friendly and looked to be enjoying their job. I dined in the Mirabelle restaurant, and the food is some of the best I have had anywhere in the world. Prices are not cheap, but you pay for quality. I had the Beef Carpaccio, Ray Wing, and the Cheeseboard, all were of top quality. This was the dinner menu @ £43.50 for all courses. Would recommend to locals and visitors alike.

This is truly a top quality hotel which is well worth the cost. Although on the expensive side of seaside hotels this hotel lives up to its name of "The Grand". The attentive and extremely polite staff give an unparalleled and non-intrusive quality of service, and this applies to restaurants, common areas and room service, where a turndown service operates, and toiletries, bedside bottled water etc are continually refreshed. We stayed over the Easter weekend, where the range of guests varied from families with very young children to those similar to ourselves with senior citizen status, and the hotel managed to cater for this wide range of guests with quiet and friendly efficiency.
This is a quality hotel that I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone who wishes to receive old fashioned hospitality in a modern environment.

We spentt two nights at The Grand Friday & Saturday. We upgraded to a sea view room with balcony which was great at it overlooked the lawns where the Eastbourne vintage car show was being held along with fantastic weather made it a great weekend.

The room was well decorated nice and clean. We ate in the Mirabelle Restaurant for the two evenings and had two guests for the Saturday evening. The meals were first class served at the right pace. The staff in this restaurant are great and can't do enough for you. I would recommend eating in the Mirabelle. The breakfast is first class and plentiful.

From booking in until leaving all the staff make you very welcome and are very helpful.

Hopefully we will be back this year.

My wife and i went for one night to this Hotel for her birthday. We were impressed with the grandeur of the entrance lobby and the staff were polite.Id arranged for flowers for my wife in the room and the Hotel did a good job of providing these. There was no air conditioning in our room but we asked for a fan and this arrived promptly, i was surprised at the lack of air conditioning at this type of Hotel. We had drinks in the bar before dinner, the bar area is very nice,we encountered a little attitude from one of the young ladies serving us which was a little frustrating considering the very expensive bar tariff. We had dinner in The Mirabelle, the food and the service were outstanding. Lovely Hotel, polite staff in the main an enjoyable stay.

A quality break in a luxury hotel. Wonderful breakfast, the hotel had lots of rooms to sit and have coffee and afternoon tea. The building has great character and the staff are very helpful. Parking may be a little tight during peak periods, but easy between October and March when you can park in the parking bays in front of the Hotel without restriction. Pleasant walk along the sea front to the, pier, shops and train station not that far away, Obviously a room with a sea view would be south facing.

My wife and I stayed over for two nights with our 8 month old twins. The Hotel is situated in a beautiful location across the beach, with an area dedicated to parking infront of the hotel (off street).
There are staff helping you with your luggage and check-in was not a pain.
They did also include two mobile baby cots in the room for us which was a nice touch.
So far very good, however, I noticed the room was quite small, with a very narrow bed. for a 5 star hotel I was expecting a larger room and at least a proper double bed. Also, the television was tiny, sitting on a cabinet - again, for a hotel and money like this, I'd expect something larger than an average computer screen. WiFi was very dodgy, ended up using my 4G data.
The bathroom was nothing special. Creaking floorboards above us which sometimes woke us up in the night.

To summarize, it wasn't bad, however, for well over £200 per night I really expected more in terms of space, and luxury. The rest of the exterior and interior of the hotel is beautiful. Perhaps we just got a dud room. Location really great though!

A Saturday overnight stay. Reserved parking, greeted by doorman and bags collected from car. Welcomed by name and every aspect of the check in was handled courteously and respectfully. The sea facing double executive suite was beautiful and the Ruinard Blanc de Blanc I had ordered was chilling in an ice bucket. Swimming pool and jacuzzi were lovely, we were the only 2 people which was nice. Dinner was in the Mirabelle Restaurant, jacket and collar for gents, I like that. I went for "surf and turf" which was extremely good. The wine list was quite good and not unreasonable either. After dessert we took coffee in the lounge and enjoyed music from the Grands resident band. Breakfast was very good. Service was Olde Worlde and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Professional, courteous and polite. A hotel which still delivers old fashioned service. Loved it.

The Grand Hotel experience is one of yester-year and historic architectural grandeur together with top level service.
The imposing exterior and spectacular entrance and grand foyer is rather like visiting a national trust property and feeling like some of the original clients.
We had an executive sea view room which had a pleasant feel but lacked in normal 5 star conveniences such as mini bar, fridge or trouser press and a bit shabby ,with rusted radiator and tatty glazing. It had distinctly a georgean feel to it!
The lounge and bar area is delightful but the main , massive, dining area is aesthetically disappointing but entirely functional for a buffet style breakfast.
For our evening meal we had pre-booked into the elegant ‘Mirabel’ restaurant, AA rated with, 2 rosettes, and thoroughly enjoyed quality fine dining
Overall a pleasant but quite expensive stay.

We were looking for a weekend by the coast. Everything was provided, a great location, few minutes walk from the pier, perfect sunny weather and a lovely dinner at the hotel's restaurant, not to forget the atmosphere, just like from Agatha Christie's novel. Perfect, we enjoyed it immensely.

Having spent one night in this so called 5* hotel, I cannot believe it still boasts this rating.
My wife and I stayed in a room so dated it came out of the 70's.
The room wasn't spotless, the balcony and windows leading out onto it were in a disgraceful state. Paint peeling so badly and a balcony so dirty you couldn't go out onto it.
Overpriced lounge for drinks and bar snacks and a restaurant which could grace any old age home.
In general, a Hotel that lives on it's past and one that needs to come into the 21st Century.

Ohhh I love love LOVE this hotel. So posh and clean.. Gorgeous rooms. The room service is fabulous..

Let's not forget they have a swimming pool.. A spa! ... You can have massages..

Dress up for an evening meal...

Breakfast is Amazing!! 👌

Right on beach front!!

Only thing is, it's a little costly! I can only stay on occasions such as birthdays lol.

Don't you worry, 'The Grand' I'll be back very soon lol.

And OH MY GOD they accept dogs!!

If you're considering it.. Don't consider no more.. Just go.. You'll thank me 👍😊

Extremely courteous and polite staff from the minute you arrive. Car is parked for you and check in was quick. It's an amazing building and really is very grand. Good location. It's a bit like walking back in time. It's very luxurious and they have good old fashioned values and customer service was perfect. Think we probably had the room with the worst view but to be honest we were there for one night so it really didn't matter. Way too warm right through the hotel though. Not sure if it's always like that but that is probably the only complaint and maybe better than being cold.

Another perfect stay. This was visit number 18. We are there again next week and then July. Old world charm. The staff are very courteous and helpful and the Concierge team are superb. The location and views from the sea view rooms are superb. Ideally situated for theatres and several restaurants.

We were bought a night in this hotel, bed and breakfast and also Champagne Afternoon Tea. It was a Buyagift voucher and sometimes hotels do treat you as second class citizens but this was certainly not the case, in fact we stayed on a Saturday night and had the Afternoon Tea on the Sunday. Everything was excellent, the service, the room and it is in a beautiful location. Just across the road from the beach and very close to Beachy Head, with the town and station within a very easy walk.
From the minute we arrived we were very well looked after, our car was parked and our luggage taken to our room. We were on the ground floor which suited us very well, although there were many lifts to the other floors. In the afternoon we used the indoor pool, which was a good size and the changing rooms very clean with every facility you could wish for.
We did not have dinner in the hotel, as we visited friends locally, but if breakfast was anything to go by, I imagine it was extremely good.
We would certainly visit this hotel again and would be very happy to recommend.

Lovely hotel that lives up to its 5 star rating. Drove to door where car was parked for us, and porter accompanied us through very pleasant check in and on to our room where he explained what was where. We had newly refurbished room at the rear, long walk down to lifts owing to builders work - shame as I have a stick, maybe could have spotted this at reception and reallocated room? Room had everything required other than a trouser press.
Treated ourselves to a lovely afternoon tea in very nice lounge, great service and yummy cakes, sandwiches and scones, with real tea in fine china cups. Again nice service which is the secret of this place, everyone we came across was proactively nice and helpful.
We attended an evening function so did not use either restaurant or 24 hour room service. Breakfast was a delight, I had a lovely kipper and a full English in lovely setting.
Not cheap, but good value.

Nice 3 night stay at this popular hotel. We had the junior suite which consisted of 2 rooms with a partitioning. The adult room was fully furnished with a queen bed and complete furniture. The kids' room had 2 single beds, a television and more than enough furniture.
I wouldn't say that the hotel is a five star although it's rated as such. I say this as the furniture is quite dated and decor a bit worn off.
The food at breakfast is great but again I would expect more variety for five star standard.

What a glorious hotel! Lovely service, food, nice clean pools outdoors and indoors and especially the Onion Rings! Although they are strict about uniform for dinner and lunch it is perfect for a family get away as they have children's gift bags and cookies and milk at turndown. What a fabulous family hotel!
