We stayed at the Grand for 3 nights with our kids (twins age 11 and teen of 16). We had a suite which included a large room with double bed, an enormous living space with two put-you-up beds for the twins and a small single room for the teen, and a large bathroom. The suite was perfect for us. We had a view over the sea which was lovely. Nice touch in the room was a bowl of fruit, a little carafe of Sherry and some sweets for the kids. They didn’t last long! Beds were really comfortable, perfect feather pillows! Bathroom well stocked with lovely shower gels/shampoos. Hotel was lovely excellently set up for COVID safety, all staff wearing masks, lots of hand sanitizer stations dotted around and in the bar area, the tables were sanitised between people sitting down. All felt very safe. We ate in the main restaurant for breakfasts (which were fabulous, great choices), and we had dinner there one night. I would say a very mild criticism was “don’t try so hard” on the menu - it was good but felt like they just needed to reign it back a bit - if you want fancy, go to the Mirabelle restaurant instead. We did go posh on the last night and it was amazing - great menu, brilliant service. The kids had room service one night and were delighted with it all. Overall, a fabulous hotel, felt like we should have been floating around in long dresses and black tie and having a tea dance which makes it all the more special. Weather was awful but we didn’t mind spending most of our time in the hotel (great cocktail list!). Used the indoor and outdoor pools and the kids loved it. Was freezing and raining but the outdoor pool was like a bath! We will definitely go back.

With a great position on the seafront this hotel is still a grand dame of hotels. The decor maybe a little dated but the service from the people in the hotel is warm and friendly . We stayed for 3 nights in a suite for a family of four which was perfect , only used the restaurant for breakfast which was very good . We went in the pool each day which was nice but could do with a refurb . All in all an excellent stay.

I booked one night in the hotel for me and my 12 year old daughter for a simple school holiday break. The staff was so friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. We very much enjoyed the indoor heated pool, the spa, and the dining facilities but it really was the staff that made all the difference. Honestly, haven't experienced such great service in England since we moved here two years ago. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other families and I look forward to returning again soon.

Beautiful facade and downstairs interior, superb breakfast and staff. Rather pricey overall. Rooms clean but decor a little dated and old fashioned. Excellent location for seafront and South Downs walking or cycling.

Great setting being on right by the sea. Hotel is ‘Grand’ in every sense of the word. Great food. Outdoor pool was lovely and warm, even if we felt a bit nuts going in it in early November! Staff were really pleasant and helpful

Wedding anniversary. We had booked bed breakfast and evening meal but were presented with bills for gratuities and overpriced drinks. We wish now that we had just booked room only and eaten in the brasserie over the road

Lovely hotel with helpful staff. Food very nice but evening menu too expensive for me to try. Good position near promenade and heated outdoor pool open for summer months.

Great hotel. Very well kept throughout. The bed in our room was very comfy and we would recommend a full body message. We could see no reason why the hotels sauna was not open (due to Covid??), which was disappointing. Dont stay here if your on a budget.

The perfect place to treat yourself with fine food, service and gentle exercise in the outdoor heated pool. The hotel decor is stately and elegant. Even with children staying, the hotel maintains a calm, polite atmosphere - just right for stepping off the hamster wheel and taking a well earned break.

Escape the monotony of 2020 here! Beautiful building in a great location. Excellent service. The beds are the cosiest ever, soft to give you a hug like feel but firm for a good night's sleep. The outdoor pool is a joy, it really is warm and such a thrill swimming outdoors on a stormy day. Nice touches like milk and cookies for kids at bedtime and the staff treat kids like adult guests which thrilled our youngster. Add to this the old world charm and great food. Just wonderful

Staying 28th October till 30th October,

Lets start with breakfast i had one morning with breakfast in the restaurant and one morning in my room, both were absolutely delicious! Could not fault anything! From the portion sizes to the quality to the staff! It was 5*

Being a 24year old male who'd wanted to have a 2 night break in a luxury hotel was happy to have stayed here.

Being very connected to the Internet, I'd checked in got to my lovely hotel room and then unpacked mt belongings for my stay then connected to the wifi well tried. After waiting ten minutes to see if the wifi had just gone down, I checked and it wasn't working at all nothing was coming up! So I rang the nice receptionist and she had gone away to try sort it for me and when I rang back they said all the connection was fine and running well, I was then told to gather me devices to see if I could connect to the room next door and the signals was perfect and working! So I had to pack my things up again and change rooms, which wasn't ideal as all rooms should be tested and checked for wifi connections. If I had signal to connect to my own mobile data then I wouldve happily used that, but due to the old building and the protective mesh that surrounds the building the signal is very very poor!

Although nothing can be done about the signal issues the wifi issues can be avoided, maybe by doing a wifi check when the housekeeper signs of the room for arrival, add in a wifi check on there checklist. Wifi is also very limited, but bareable.

The spa is in need of some love, the team there are welcoming and helpful. The gym is in need or some major investing, the equipment is old and in need of replacing and very cramped and small. Pool is nice size same with hot tub. Sauna and steam room off during covid which is understandable and was expected. Just needs to be modernised. Pricing for spa membership is abit expensive for what your getting. Paying for the name not the quality in this case.

I feel like the clientele in this establishment is aimed at the over 50s. Very vintage feel hotel. If you enjoy Victorian stays then this place will suit you 100% although I didnt have any issues i did feel slightly out of place with the other guests either being older or small children. Being the younger person in the hotel feel like some guests and staff maybe looked down to me as to why was I staying in a 5* hotel. Although I didnt receive any rudeness. Overall id definitely stay again!

I stayed at this hotel on my own whilst my husband was in hospital, I has a deluxe inland room, third floor. Room was a great size, very clean. Happy with the room. I had my breakfast in my room was served exactly on time, I had a couple of lunches in the lounge, service was excellent. Will be staying here again once my husband is on the mend, all the staff very attentive and Covid protocol excellent
Parking on site I opted to prebook

We chose the hotel to host our daughters wedding ceremony and reception. It was booked and planned 18 months ago but we did not envisage being in the middle of a pandemic. However over the last few months as the guest list had to be reduced Billie- Jo our wedding coordinator kept our spirits up and delivered every thing and more. She is a real star. Every member of staff at the Grand that we came into contact with was welcoming, friendly and professional, all of them a credit to the hotel.

It's a a Grand palace for sure. Beautifully turned out and great staff. We had a sea view room which was lovely, a tad warm and the coffee machine not working, but minor quibbles. The Spa was all sold out, in advance of our arrival, so book early if you want to use it, I believe limited by Covid times. The outdoor pool was super though. We were booked in the Garden restaurant for dinner (and breakfast). We had a decent dinner, after a good cocktail in the lounge, dinner was good, not great, not bad, a little under whelming but not disappointing, the wine list was pretty fine. Breakfast was on the good side, kippers for once, so few hotels do they now. Overall a good stay, we would go again, but only if we were able to get spa bookings in

An amazing building at a great location. We ate lovely food in the Mirabelle and our room was spacious and comfy. It comes at a price of course - it’s easy for the bill to creep up with drinks in the bar, water for the table etc.
We thought there could be better tea/coffee making facilities In the rooms

A very comfortable room with good facilities, although the decor was a little tired and uninspiring. We liked the indoor and outside pools and the hot tub and the breakfast was very good although a buffet would have been even better. Service was good throughout.
