We have stayed at the Grand Hotel before and it is like stepping back in time when compared to faceless modern hotels. The level of service is superlative. The menu is table d'hote and a la carte. The wine list is extensive and there is a list of cocktails at the bar - for ladies, there is an' Iron Lady'. Well worth trying. For a place to just get away and relax, this has to be top of the list.

Stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms at the back of hotel. Room was very well appointed. The staff are very polite and helpful. Lovely cooked breakfast. Facilities are great. Eastbourne is supposed to be the sunniest place in the UK and it lived up to its reputation. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

beautiful hotel and great staff. Bar and surrounding areas above average. Disappointed with the food in the Mirabelle restaurant as it claimed to be the best. Food at Garden restaurant was better! Over all ambience was lovely

We never thought we would be able to enter Dr Who's time machine and return to a time when elegance and politeness where in so much abundance. If Hercule Poirot had walked into the Mirabelle restaurant he would have felt at home. The food in the Mirabelle was top class as were the restaurants staff, friendly and helpful, a pleasure to eat there. The room was everything we required with an excellent view. All in all my only regret was booking one night, but I will put that right in the future

I felt the lounge, bar area, dining room were beautiful with a lovely feeling and ambience. All the staff were exceptional and a real credit to the industry. However we were very disappointed with the overall look, finish and size of the accommodation, this we felt was well below 5 star level !

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel for a special birthday treat. Excellent service from all staff and beautiful restaurant/bar areas downstairs. Sofya, in the Spa, gave the best facial I've ever had! Perhaps the bedrooms are becoming a little tired looking but there did appear to be some decorations going on. Great location for easy walks along the seafront too.

This hotel is almost perfect for those who want abit of old fashioned luxury
My only gripes are the sash windows in my room didnt fit properly so when there was a gale on Friday night the room was very very draughty.also the bath was too high to step in and out ofMaybe a hand rail on the side wall would help with that . Not enough seating in the pool area was another down side as were guests who thought they had the right to occupy the Jaccuzzi for ages without letting anyone else in for a spell
what a fantastic building with so much character the decor is classic , rooms have everything you need .Free newspaper and bottled water were a plus as were robes and slippers Good quality toiletries as well . Food and service superb Drinks pricey but it is a 5 star hotel

What an incredibly welcoming and well presented hotel with the kindest sincerest staff. We had a fantastic stay, lovely treatments in the spa and the food and Mirabelle restaurant were excellent. If there were a ten star rating it still wouldn't be enough!

The venue, staff, treatments and meals were very good and our opinion good value for money. We were however, disappointed with the condition of the spa area (changing rooms, toilet and pool area) which seemed very dated and small.

Excellent value for a nicely situated hotel within easy access to the seafont and cultural attractions.
-It's all marble flooring The swimming pool and spa pool were fabulous. The cocktails were fab, dinner was amazing. Staff excellent; nothing too much trouble. Room very nice and bed very comfortable.

Was here for the Mozart weekend. My third visit to the hotel since 2012. Nothing has changed. Service impeccable, food very good especially when considering the number of the people seated for the meals each evening. Staff went out of their way to help older guests. This applies to all staff from doorman, concierges thru to management. The guest is always made to feel important.
My only niggles are since 2012, nothing has changed.... I had hoped more refurbishment would have taken place in all the bedrooms - an executive room only has a standard double bed, yet the room is huge. Also plug sockets aren't where needed i.e. for hair dryer I had to use a plug by the door with no mirror at hand.
This is a 5 star hotel , and if Premier Inn can offer qualiity queen size beds then the Grand needs to pull its socks up. Same applies to the lounge sofas and armchairs, they are old, lumpy and sagging.

This was our second visit to the Grand. What an outstanding visit and experience we had over the weekend. On arrival we had a room upgrade which was a lovely surprise!

Booking in was really easy and front desk and door customer service was excellent – thank you!

The room had lovely views of the sea front which was stunning this time of the year.

Room was well appointed with tea and coffee, comfortable bed and a call to make sure all was well from customer relations.

We ate dinner in the Mirabelle – what a lovey place to eat. Intimate enough for a quiet meal of exceptional quality. My compliments to the chef and waiting team.

The hotel was busy during our stay, but the service did not falter. With evening drinks in the bar, a lovely end to a lovely evening.

My thanks to the management team and staff for making our stay so special.

Excellent weekend as usual. Many thanks for the vegetarian meals. However, a few niggles:1. The blinds in our room (16) didn't work properly, even after we reported it2. You really must provide an alternative for wheelchair users to the stairs going up to the Compton Room. Currently they have to be lifted up and down (causing a blockage for other people).

very good arrangements carried out well by staff. Food was excellent and 1st class list of malt whiskiesAs usual with the Grand Hotel time passes too quickly The music was really superb. Unfortunately the main event could only be reached by climbing steps. Some disabled persons had great difficulty in climbing the stairs as no members of staff were immediately available

The staff were well-trained, friendly and attentive. The rooms, both public and bedrooms were spotlessly clean. Staff visited bedroom several times a day to wash teacups, turn down bed etc. Food good and expertly served.

A weekend of excellent music from the superb London Mozart Players at a top class hotel, with wonderful staff providing great service and marvellous food. The cakes at afternoon tea on the Saturday looked almost too nice to eat, featuring fresh violas, delicately cut fruits, little chocolate curls and beautifully piped icing as toppings. The diet will have to start now we're back home!

we took my parents down for s weekend break. two suites both perfectly suited. we had 309 which has a 4 poster and a fantastic sea view sitting room. both large. my parents suite had a smaller sitting room but two separate bedrooms with large beds. as ever the staff were friendly and welcoming and helpful.
we had dinner at the Mirabelle (sp?) the tasting menu and wines to accompany were excellent. Drinks before dinner in the reception room and drinks after dinner with dancing.
breakfast was in the main dining room - an excellent buffet. we had afternoon creme tea on Sunday which was excellent although the staff in this case were a little chaotic.
the only slight downside were the private events ( a dinner dance and wedding reception on alternate evenings) which resulted in the main restaurant being shut and the bar and hall reception being closed.

After such a long journey, it was really refreshing to be greeted by staff who appeared to really enjoy there job. The employees added to the experience of this delightful break. The edifice was so opulent, it really took my breath away with its Grandeur.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome as well as special. The hotel is timeless you could take a picture in black and white and you would be taken back in time. A good mix of historical atmosphere and modern day. Food in restaurant fabulous staff all very professional.

My husband and I have stayed at The Grand Hotel many times over the years - for New Year parties and birthday celebrations and our well behaved poodle has always been welcomed with open arms. We always have an excellent time and begin to relax the moment we arrive. This occasion, for my husband's birthday, we were especially delighted with our reburbished room and The Mirabelle Restaurant.
