My friend and I visit once a year (work and family commitments make it impossible to do so more often). When you step foot into the Grande Hotel you are immediately made to feel welcome. The concierge greeting you with a smile taking your case, the receptionist checking you in, even the maids cleaning as you walk around, all staff greet you with a smile and welcome.
The food and drinks are out of this world. The Gluten Free options were delicious and nothing was too much trouble.
Afternoon tea is a delicious treat and well worth having, book
In advance so you don’t miss out.
The spa offers treatments, gym facilities, and an outside or indoor pool. I can recommend the grande facial, it left my skin soft and glowing.
If you get the opportunity to stay here please take it. Worth every penny and more. We will be back next year.

... which is what the Wife and I decided to do this past Friday. We stayed overnight and had a wonderful time of things. Supper was excellent (as all food is from the Garden Restaurant). This is one of the reasons we come time and again. If I had any criticism at all, it would be the bed being a little softer than I'd have ideally preferred, but then, if that's my only criticism it's not much, is it?Fantastic Breakfast and the staff were courteous to a fault all throughout our stay. We will be back!

Came here for afternoon tea,was a gift for our silver wedding, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the afternoon tea was nice, although the cakes weren't great and I'm not sure the scones were homemade, the thing that disappointed me was how tired and shabby the hotel is. I've always wanted to come to this hotel as it looks so grand from the outside but the lounge we sat in needs redecoration and the toilets, although very clean and amazing toiletries, had ripped wallpaper. I just expected something a bit grander. It was still a nice experience just not as grand as I had imagined.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night just to escape London for a night as it was his birthday and our wedding anniversary. On arrival we were given 2 cards one was a birthday card and one was a Happy Anniversary Card from all the staff. What a lovely welcome and from there the impeccable service continued. My husband had a massage which he said was very nice. We had lunch in the lounge and Dinner in the restaurant. It was perfect in every way. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

I can recommend the Spa B & B gift experience at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. My husband and I had a very relaxing time and it felt like we were being treated like royalty! The location is excellent for walks along the extremely pleasant seafront too.

Four of us sat down to enjoy a wonderful evening meal in The Garden Restaurant. Aperitifs in the bar followed by a delicious three courses with some lovely little touches including an unexpected fish cake to try before our starters and attentive but not over the top service. The dining room is beautiful and so in keeping with the traditional style you would expect of such an imposing building on the seafront.
Both meat and fish main courses were enjoyed followed by a sticky orange cake that was fantastic. In this day and age it was such a pleasure to enjoy a fantastic meal in a beautiful setting with good old fashioned service. It’s a family favourite for a special occasion and we have enjoyed breakfasts, afternoon tea and dinners.

We have just returned from a few days at the Grand Hotel Eastbourne and we were very satisfied. The facilities are good and the staff seem to be genuinely keen to help and to ensure that the guests have a good time. The basement swimming pool is good as is the jacuzzi - there is also an outdoor pool for the really hardy. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is solidly built so that there are no noise problems.

It was a really nice and special end to our holiday to stay at the Grand Hotel after walking the South Downs way. Our room was nice and spacious. Special touches included evening turn down of the bed so it felt traditional and a great experience. The interior of the hotel is lovely and very grand. It’s a nice experience to stay here. Breakfast was lovely in the large dining room with nice choices.

Amazing three night break that went far to quickly. Staff friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. The lady on reception went out of her way to get a small fridge sent to our room so my mum could keep her soya milk in it. Can’t praise the hotel enough. Thankyou for a lovely stay. Only complaint drinks at the bar overpriced.

Lovely building, polite and welcoming staff throughout the hotel. The dinner was average but the breakfast made up for the evening before. The disappointment was the crazy high prices in the bar, it’s not a London 5 star so it put me off and ended up leaving after one drink. And unfortunately, it’s in desperate need for some soft refurbishments, the sofas throughout he bar are old musty tired sofas that wasn’t enjoyable and didn’t complete the hotel. Some attention to these points would no doubt boost this lovely property and certainly revenue, and customer experience. All in all we enjoyed our stay away from the kids but had hoped for alittle more quality whilst respecting the old charm.

A very good, friendly hotel although a little expensive. Very well situated for the theatre district which we made full use of although we were not able to have dinner at the hotel prior to the two shows so we lost our pre-dinner payment. Not good!

From the arrival at this magnificent building (which in itself is an event) guests are provided with a personal parking space and then escorted to the reception area. After the warmest of welcomes guests make their way over plush carpets to a highly appointed room. It is a magical experience from start to finish. Walking distance from the town, the pier and the promenade, even the sight seeing bus stops outside the hotel should you not wish to drive but enjoy the surrounding scenery, learn about the history and geography of the town and use the hop on/off facility all day long. It is grand in the true sense of the word but the staff have that magic blend of fierce efficiency coupled with charm and courtesy. A perfect hotel.

This is indeed a very "Grand" hotel from a lovely façade, through large public rooms and bar. The bedroom was a bit "tired" with slightly mismatching furniture and a rather small shower room. It was OK and we were only there one night, any longer and we might not have been so happy. The bed was very comfy and the staff were all very friendly and polite. Breakfast was good if a little slow and there is a separate report about the dinning room/meal.

Dining at the Mirabelle this week was not the same exquisite fine dining experience we were ever used to. Very expensive for how the food was prepared and presented. Service was second to none as usual though. This was our favourite place to dine, although living over an hour away, it was always worth the trip. Sadly we won't be returning and will look for another restaurant when we fancy a special treat for us as a couple or to meet friends, as we did in this occasion after raving about the food!

First of all the staff are all genuinely lovely and friendly. From the doorman who informs reception when you arrive so your paperwork is ready to all the staff that say hello as you pass by or ask if they can hep with anything. We didn't reserve a sea view room but did end up with a sea view through one of the windows, which was a bonus. Room was a good size and nice and clean. Clean bathroom with a good shower and towelling robes as well as towels. The hotel is slightly dated and needs a little TLC in places but is what you would expect for a large Victorian building, but still looks impressive and majestic. Rooms are well equipped with complimentary water and Molton Brown toiletries as well as a Nespresso coffee machine with capsules as well as other coffees, teas, hot chocolate and biscuits. Asked for a quiet room and had no noise issues at all. As someone who always takes ear plugs to reduce noise, there was one night where I didn't need them at all. Breakfast was a choice from a buffet of cooked items or fruits, cereals, breads, cheese, smoked salmon etc or you could order from a menu. Would have liked hash browns and eggs benedict but there was fried bread, which is rarity these days. Decent sausages and unwatered down juice. Toast is also brought to you rather than having to do your own. Bonus was finding the snooker room and having a few games each evening. Sadly, the pool and steam room, jacuzzi etc was out of order during our visit, which was a big disappointment for us as this was one of the main reasons for booking the hotel. We were notified enroute but this did dampen our excitement at staying there. There is an outdoor heated pool but it wasn't really the weather for using that. Was disappointed that no discount or a complimentary drink was offered by way of a gesture (or could have offered use of facilities at the Brighton Grand maybe), so they lose a star for this. The bar area was nice, drinks a little on the steep side as was the restaurant prices for dinner- but this is the Grand after all. Eastbourne itself is nice for long walks along the front. Wouldn't recommend the town centre after the shops have closed as seems to be a lot of drunks around even from 5pm ish. Beachy Head and Birling Gap are stunning and definitely worth going to. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, the room was clean and staff impeccably polite but not having access to all the facilities paid for was a big disappointment.

My husband and I spent two wonderful nights at the Grand and enjoyed every minute. Our room with a full sea view was well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners during our two-night stay. My husband especially enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

We found the hotel wonderful. The staff were really nice and very polite. The food was out of this world. The best food and service we have ever had in a hotel. The only thing that let our stay down was the room. Tucked away in a roof area and all we could see was various parts of the roof. That was a bit disappointing seeing as it was called a delux room. Seeing as we were only the room for a very short time of our stay it did not ruin our break.

Like a faded Duchess, the Grand Hotel Eastbourne welcomes you with the warmth and grace of olde worlde glamour and comforting luxury. From the gorgeous Molton Brown toiletries, to the wonderful staff, it is like staying in a established luxury London Hotel, but near the sea. Loved it!!

We stayed the first day after our wedding. One of the Hotels in the Elite Hotels Group we have stayed at them all and the Grand is truly 'grand' and if you are lucky enough to have a sea view room then it also offers spectacular views.

Our room was very comfortable with a huge bed. The rest of the furniture is rather 'tired' and old-fashioned though. Tea making facilities are provided (although quite minimal) and ther was alosa nespresso coffee machine (again only three coffee pods). There is no fridge, a big minus in a five-star hotel.

Beautiful restaurant and we enjoyed roast beef at its best. Breakfast was a little less perfect. The young female Maitre d' was not in control at all. We (and other guests) were kept waiting several minutes before being acknowledged and shown to a table - it was quite embarrassing waiting around by the entrance with no-one around to meet and greet and the Restaurant was barely a third-full. My wife had almost finished her cooked breakfast before mine had arrived and we had to remind staff twice (it was only two poached eggs after all). My wife's plate was also swept away before I had finished eating which is also bad etiquette. But that aside, a very pleasant stay and staff were very courteous an helpful.

We stayed here for a night and had a very pleasant stay. We got a junior suite which was ok, it had a double bed, a sofa bed, 2 chairs and a small coffee table. I was a tiny bit disappointed, I thought it might be a little grander however it was still very lovely! A chap took us up to the room, made up the sofa bed for my daughter and said if there was anything else we wanted, to go and find him and he’ll get what we need. Lovely experience. The bed was very comfortable so we got a great nights sleep and the shower was ok in the morning. Breakfast.......we had to queue for a bit however it went down pretty quickly and when we got a seat, we were waited on hand and foot so no complaints there. The food (buffet) was hot and tasty with a fine selection. You can of course order from the breakfast menu so again, a good selection. The pools were lovely, we were lucky to have sunshine to enjoy the outdoor pool. Parking was a tiny bit of a problem but nothing too major. We just had to find somewhere out on the road (we were given a ticket for the card by the hotel FOC) I would highly recommend the Grand for any age and any mixture of people.

The Grand Hotel Eastbourne is a unique hotel. The only 5 star hotel set by the seaside. Very unique in its Victorian style. Grand as stated in its name. It felt like we were stepping back in time. Like we were in Downton Abbey or something. We only wished we stayed more than one night. There are only a few hotels which I could rate as very good.

Yes this hotel tends to have older clientele. But this did not make a difference to our stay. We had something to eat in the lounge on arrival. I would state maybe put light dish as a different option. As we found the light dish was very large in deed. It meant there was only room for main and dessert at The Garden Restaurant in the evening. We also had cocktails in the lounge bar. All staff worked to a high standard. We felt like we could have been staying at the Ritz in London.

We checked out the spa. Very quiet most of the time we had the spa to ourselves. The only issue which I feel need to be fixed is that the steam room appears to have some rust issues and their is possible mould around the wall in the spa area. It is also a shame that there is only separate dry spa rooms as we would have liked to go into these areas together. .Did not use outdoor pool as it was slightly gray on our arrival day.

Room was large and spacious. Two beds pushed together as double bed. Bed nice and soft. More than plenty of room to store clothes. Shame there is no in room bar in the room. Although there is a wide range of in room service options. Asked for iron and iron board no issue. A forgotten toothbrush was also not a issue as able to purchase dental kit at hotel. We did not have a sea room. But did not mind about this. There are a few areas of side boards in room which could need a little touching up of paint.

Breakfast very nice at hotel in The Garden Restaurant. Wide range of choice both buffet or to be cooked by chef and brought to the table.

Leaving bags on departure was no issue. Meant we could go and explore Eastbourne for the rest of our day and return for baggage later.

I will write a separate review for The Garden Restaurant. I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing romantic break.

Rooms vary, ours was tiny.....we asked to move . Lovely victorian style, great service and location. Some areas are becoming a looking tired looking but overall it was a lovely relaxing 5 night stay. Tea in the afternoon is a must and breakfast is excellent and the staff are really attentive. Bed linen is high quality. Habe to ask for shower get to be replenished daily!? Receptionists are a little condescending. .
