Approachable and professional staff. Great food and service. Family friendly atmosphere.Conversations with other guests showed that they had stayed at the Grand in Eastbourne several times. This speaks for itself.

The Grand Hotel certainly lives up to it's name. From the welcome you receive until being wished a pleasant journey on departure, the customer service cannot be faulted.

The food is excellent both dinner and breakfast (the Grand being one of the few places which still serve kidneys for breakfast).

The outdoor pool a bit on the small side but a fantastic setting on a sunny day and a well equipped gym, will help you to work off the food.

The rooms are well decorated with good quality furnishing and pod coffee facilities. Slippers and robes are provided to add to the comfort. Being an older hotel, 'The Grand' does not have air conditioning, but we were pleased to see the addition of a powerful vertical fan since our last visit.

We look forward to returning!

We have just returned on Saturday 11th August after celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary, having had a four day spa break at the Grand Hotel. Apart from two days of the worst weather Eastbourne has seen in many months, our stay at the Grand was a very enjoyable experience .Very friendly, courteous, and helpful staff in all area's. We had originally booked a Delux Room, but with a big thank's to the Management we received an upgrade to a room situated to the rear of the hotel .A large room, very clean,a very large bed, with a comfortable Mattress. The downside, although the room
had two large windows the room was very dark, not helped by having very dated dark furniture and a dark carpet. Out of the four nights we stayed there we lost a lot of sleep on two of the nights due to outside noise from refuse bins being moved and emptied early in the morning. On Thursday morning at about 4am the fire alarms went
so we had to evacuate the room, thankfully there was no fire, we returned to our room at about 5am. Unfortunately it was 7.30am before they could deactivate the fire alarms from going off. The two restaurants are elegant. The food was very good without being exceptional, with good size portions. The Breakfast was outstanding the best we have had anywhere . The Gym and Spa we felt were average for a top class hotel, the Spa treatments were excellent. For us there were more plus than negatives. We would stay there again, although we both felt the hotel was overall more of a high end 4star than a 5star.

Lovely old style elegant hotel. Great facilities, lovely room, good food (especially the breakfast) and wonderful staff who were without exception friendly, polite and helpful.
Enjoyed the musical entertainment on Friday and Saturday. We felt that we had been well looked after and pampered during our stay.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you The Grand.

We enjoyed a week's stay in this beautiful hotel on the coast to celebrate a significant birthday. From our arrival to a warm welcome by the concierge, we were very impressed by the friendliness, courtesy, efficiency and professionalism of the staff. The ground floor public rooms are beautiful, whilst the outdoor pool is a real bonus. Our room, 128, was a sea view suite with a spacious balcony and very comfortable, though in need of a little tlc.
We would happily return.

I booked for myself and my husband to stay at The Grand as a surprise for my husband it was our 11th wedding anniversary and we had got married at The Grand so it was a lovely surprise for my husband. The hotel upgraded us to an executive room which was lovely and made the stay extra special for us both. I had previously booked for us to have dinner the first night we had dinner in the Garden restaurant. Everything was going well the service was very good apart from the delay that we had from having our starters we seemed to wait a very long time for our main course to arrive and the staff didn't seem to come near to our table for us to find out what the delay was. When we was able to ask a member of staff what the problem was we had been waiting nearly 45minutes. The food was very good and tasty just a little disappointing that we was not kept informed about a delay. The next day breakfast was very good with a wide range of cereal, juices, cooked breakfast and the staff were very helpful. The second night we dined in The mirabelle restaurant which was very nice and romantic the food was excellent and a good variety of gluten free meals. If you want to stay somewhere that is old fashioned but very comfortable for a special occasion it is the right place to stay

We chose the hotel for a quiet weekend from London.
Very warm welcome from reception and wonderful warm staff our entire stay.
Clean rooms but the hotel itself was dated and a little faded.
We are at the garden restaurant which was recommended by reception when we booked as being informal and like a ‘nice pub’. I think the cheapest menu was £70 and that was very basic, cheapest bottle of wine about £68. Food was ok, a little bland and boring, service impeccable, overpriced for the quality of food.
A pleasant stay but would not return as old fashioned and expensive for what you get. Really lovely staff though!!

Most enjoyable at all times. Very good size and comfortable room. We travelled with a small dog and were pleased to have a dog bed and food provided, as requested before we arrived. We stayed on a B & B. basis on this occasion and had first class breakfasts each morning.

Has the location and the old fashioned cache but is let down by very expensive, average restaurants with staff that have not been properly trained plus no proper air conditioning in the room, which ought to be a pre-requisite in a 5 star hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the bellman great but this place has the potential to be so much better.

Our recent holiday was excellent from beginning to end: the room had exceptionally comfortable beds, the coffee machine was continually replenished and the bathroom had Milton Brown toiletries; the food was delicious and breakfast was particularly impressive; the cocktail menu was extensive and the staff were tremendously helpful. Overall, our stay was excellent and we are already looking at booking again!

Its ok, but not brilliant, I've had much better for far less. Would not go there again for afternoon tea. Very small amounts and really nothing good enough to wow about or tell your friends, I'm not expecting to be stuffed on an afternoon tea so its not about the amount, just the content was very ordinary. Nice presentation with all the silverware etc and staff were pleasant but the actual food, presentation, originality, quality were nothing exceptional for £28 a head. The English Breakfast tea was too perfumed, but the Red Bush was very good but overall.....Disappointed!

Visiting family so needed an overnight stop. We all enjoyed the cocktails and mocktails in the bar with evening snacks of cheese and biscuits, fruit and cake. Very friendly staff. Plus our town view bedroom was relaxing with a comfy bed and a bathroom with plenty of space. Great seafront location near some local shops too. Definitely would stay again.

The Grand Hotel at Eastbourne is the ideal venue for a perfect break. We have just spent three nights staying at this beautiful, well positioned hotel.
We booked an executive room which was classic in decor and very well appointed. We didn't feel that the additional cost of a sea view was justified and, possibly, our only disappointment was a complete lack of any view.
The room was well serviced and it was good to find that beds were still turned down in the evenings, a rare happening these days.
The dining room is elegant and the service matches the style. The breakfast spread is extensive and the dinner menu must satisfy most tastes. We enjoyed three excellent dinners in an atmosphere which was both efficient and relaxed.
The dishes were all tasty and the sorbet course was the most flavoursome I can ever remember tasting.
Glorious weather meant that we were able to enjoy the pleasure of a drink on the sunny terrace.
Visiting in August meant that we had some concerns about parking but we needn't have worried as a space was always found without fuss or difficulty.
This is an expensive hotel but if good service, a civilised atmosphere, well prepared and tasty food and very comfortable surroundings matter to you, then it is worth it and we will look forward to our next visit.

A pleasure to visit this very special Grand Hotel- it is in a perfect setting and is beautifully and lovingly maintained, one of the very special Victorian seaside Hotels that survive today. Staff could not be any friendlier or efficient and it offers everything you need for a holiday by the seaside, or poolside- that you could require.

Positives: service polite and efficient especially in Mirabelle restaurant. Thank you for this. Bed linen good quality and towels well sized and plentiful. Efficient shower. Speedy check in and out. Beautiful exterior. Parking well managed.
Negatives : Bedroom 239 unpleasant outlook and cheap, dark, outdated furniture. Very little surface area both in here and bathroom. No fridge; no air conditioning. The latter, I admit, would be difficult and costly to install and probably interfere with the aged fabric of the building. Fans were available but only received at third request. Public areas require sprucing up. Mirabelle, pleasant environment and see above but under-developed flavours particularly main courses.
Conclusion : The reasons for the inception of The Grand are clearly in line with similar establishments of that period and consequently it has a fascinating history and has entertained some interesting and no doubt demanding guests. With a few tweaks it could continue to provide an equally satisfying experience. I’m sorry to say that our three days were somewhat over-priced and disappointing.

The service from reception on check-in/departure was very poor to say the least.
The concierge were brilliant, very helpful and knowledgeable.
Restaurant/bar staff have outstanding customer service skills.
Excellent location on the sea front.

Very pleasant stay. Couple of minor problems were sorted on the front line with staff that had the authority to do so. A 5 Star hotel should be able to sort issues as they arise and they did their best to make our stay even better and they succeeded! Fantastic value. Will come again.

Living locally we visit this hotel regularly and so have the elite membership which is excellent value for money at this excellent establishment. Being able to have Sunday evening meal at the hotel and stay overnight for a ridiculously low price is especially welcome. We used to save this hotel for special occasions but now make 'special' occasions special by having one of the superb cocktails and upgrading to an executive room (even though the other rooms are quite special).

I would certainly recommend this hotel, its staff, both restaurants, and the rooms to anyone, and suggest that local people get elite membership and use this at least during the quieter winter months
