Essential for those with an interest in astronomy, fun hands-on science experiments to try out around the site too. Vegan options in at the food stall and cafe too :)

Absolutely fantastic experience.. from the moment we were meeted and greeted by the highly knowledgeable man at the entrance (I wish I'd asked his name). we received all the information one could only dream of at other so called "tourist sites".. and the C19 info and precautions were spot on.. well done to all involved ..my wife Mel and myself would like to say thank you... also from a personal point of view the site has always been a holy grail to me. having been born in 1958. and went on to be a keen astronomer with thanks to the like of the great Patrick Moore. sky at night put me at herstmonceux on a regular basis... my visit gave me goosebumps... keep up the Brill work and thanks again..kind regards Dave lawday...🙂

I'm adding this to my list of favourite places. Beautiful location and so many fun and interactive things to do. Make sure you pre-book and give yourselves plenty of time to play and experiment. As another reviewer had said its like launch pad but with less crowds. All of the volunteers were friendly and helpful. All scientific concepts explained in easy to grasp ways. Lots and lots of fun. Easy to social distance, lots of hand sanitiser available. Still lots of hands on experiments available. Looking forward to visiting again when it opens fully. There's even a value for money gift shop. Thanks for a lovely day.

Think launchpad at the science museum but with fewer crowds and very big telescopes. It's really rather good. My eleven year old had a great time, my almost fourteen year old thought it was perhaps a little too young but still enjoyed herself. This 49 year old also had a good time.

I did see some visitors being turned away from the centre as we arrived because they hadn't pre-booked. I would say that the website did make it clear that only pre-booking was permitted at the moment. Maybe the centre should put a sign at the entrance to save people driving or walking up to the centre.

Clearly work had been done to redesign the experiences under COVID restrictions and we were all really impressed as to how much there was to do. Albeit we had great weather, if it was raining a lot of interactive exhibits would be pretty unusable.

My children are typical young boys who dont have a lot of patience but they were really absorbed by so many exhibits that you could push, pull or use to generate a variety of interesting effects such as creating a water vortex or lifting themselves up using the power of a vacuum cleaner.

We spent a good couple of hours and the whole family enjoyed themselves as well as learning some science principles.

An excellent place to visit.

We walked past today on an organised walk. 🌟 Saw the Observatory from a distance, and from a perspective you wouldn't normally see. A great building.

It's a must visit place if you have an interest in astronomy. Fantastic for children as the museum has lots of hands-on educational displays and games. Pity we could see the stars with the telescope, it was a cloudy night, however the talks were amazing. We will be back!!

We visited both the observatory and the castle on the same day, the attractions are good, and I can imagine during the summer the wide open spaces being particularly good. The actual attractions are great and the staff simply superb, and very knowledgeable. Victoria who did our castle tour was thorough and engaging.
Signage for the site is both lacking and confusing, with car parking being at the top of the site leaving you to navigate a muddy trail to reach a road with no pedestrian pavement (so long as there's no traffic this is obviously fine) and it's quite far from the observatory itself.

This is slight mar on what was otherwise a great day out.

Great place to visit. Went there on a wet windy sunday with my daughter and had a great day, did the observatory talk, the guy was so enthusiastic and passionate about what they do there, a credit to the observatory! Lots of small experiments inside to do. My little girl loved those, some bigger outside ones and a discovery park. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We're looking forward to going again soon.

This is a great day out for the kids and the adults alike, so much to learn, loads of hands on things to do, that will keep everyone from toddler to adult engaged for hours, we spent 5 hrs there without running out if things to see and do, only left because of tiredness! staff are super friendly and helpful, we've been lots of times and will be going again soon.

Surprisingly the best part of my family holiday. Was worried it was a bit young for my kids but gave it a try. All hands on stuff, staff were brilliant, everything was working. Reasonably priced gift shop and cafe. Absolutely brilliant, everything wheelchair accessible. Cannot fault the experience at all.
