A gem of a gallery. Nice little collection of Ravilious paintings. When we visited all the Turner Prize shortlisted artists on display.

It's a bit marmite as you might expect! I don't doubt that modern art can look interesting, but I'm not sure the TP exhibitions inspired or provoked my thoughts as they could have done. I think the most interesting exhibit was Grayson Perry's offering on the non-TP side and Barbara Walker's on the TP side.Visited on

Visited the Turner Prize at the Towner Art Gallery which was brilliant - a mixture of great art and pretentious clap trap.Visited on

Amazing free gallery and space, wish we had one like it in Brighton! Lovely cafe, shop and location. The beach is just across the road which was great 👍🏻there's a restaurant in the building which looked lovely, next time!Visited on

Planning another visit on Wednesday for the Turner prize exhibits.

The spaces in 4 separated galleries are large for the 4 well presented Turner Prize entries, plenty of guides/marshals. Lovely modern building in pleasant part of town a stones throw from the seafront. The Turner Prize town map guide is lacking detail and some of the outlier exhibitions are non existent.

Free entry. Changes it's featured artwork often so it is a different experience each time you go. Good view across Devonshire Park.

The Turner Prize is being hosted here 2023/24.

Great gallery my only note would be the information boards in the exhibition spaces which were a bit scrappy

Generally a small but good collection of art. The Ravilous collection is good permanent collection and it has some good visiting collections such as the recent Hepworth exhibition.
Modern & clean building with a couple of nice cafes as well.
Recommended.

We visited the free art exhibition area while we charged our EV opposite, as we were not staying long. It was a wonderful place to visit, modest ik size but well worth a visit if you are nearby. There is also a pay to enter exhibition, however we were not staying long to visit it. Wonderful new building, and helpful members of staff.

A purpose built building, free entry and wonderfully set out; what an asset to Eastbourne.
Update: Another wonderful & well curated exhibition and lovely staff.

This is always an interesting venue. We came for the Barbara Hepworth exhibition which was very worthwhile and engaged us for an hour before we looked around the Eric Ravilious room where we attended a short talk by a curator on a couple of the paintings.

Impressive building, less impressive shop, average exhibitions, posh restaurant food served in a tired coffee shop environment, service was well below par.
