It may be hard to see the Towner at the moment, with all of the renovation work taking place to the Congress Theatre but it is worth seeking out. The last time I went here just before Christmas I saw an extraordinary photographic exhibition focused on time and place. I only popped in to stay out of the rain whilst I waited for my son to come out of a Panto performance at the nearby Devonshire Theatre, but I was utterly transfixed and transported in time and space. If you haven't been and you would like to go to an interesting space to reflect and absorb something new you really must go. If you go to the theatre or the Tennis pop in. It really is a feast for the eyes, and they regularly update exhibitions from their vaults and get visiting collections. And what’s more it’s free entry with voluntary donations, so what do you have to lose?

Lots of free art to see here. At the moment there is a brilliant Eric Ravillious display to see.
Use your art card to get a discount on the pay to view galleries.
Cafe has lots of choice and free wi fi.
Small shop in foyer has lots of great gifts - not cheap to buy but there is a sale on at the moment.
Parking is in the street outside for free or in a pay and display car park next door to venue.

This was a highlight of our visit to Eastbourne. We both love modern art and frequently visit Kent's equivalent, the Turner Contemporary. Loved it and can't wait to go back.

Staying in the Devonshire Park Hotel opposite to the gallery, we took the opportunity to see what was on offer. And so glad we did. Neither my husband nor I are art-buffs but the displays were well laid out with excellent explanations and the time we spent there was both interesting and educational. Free admission too but donations gratefully accepted. A great little find!

Visited the gallery with my friend and we both loved it. It was nice how we could just walk around and see the displays but we also had a chat with one of the staff members who was very knowledgeable about the artist who produced the painting we were looking at. After we looked around each room we had a little stop at the cafe where we could sit down and enjoy our coffee with a lovely view.

The Towner art gallery is great, free admission. good exhibitions and a decent cafe! The exhibitions are different every time and it's a great place to go every so often. The gift shop offers unique products, although a little pricy as usual with these sorts of places. Overall, a pretty good stop if you're near the seafront...
