We spent a week at The OGH and had an absolutely phenomenal stay. A great location Central to St Peter Port, with free valet parking, superb dining and a courtyard swimming pool that helps to melt away the stress.
The staff are top class, polite, well mannered, helpful and enthusiastic (Laura our waitress typified these high standards).
The details of the stay are impeccable, from the fresh flowers, to the mint and lime water at the pool, to the elegant cutlery in the restaurant.
If you are a well seasoned traveller I challenge you to find anywhere better.
In summary, classic elegance coupled with platinum service in a great location, that will make your stay unforgettable.

We had a one night stay here as part of a flying trip in our light aircraft. The hotel was superb in every way. But to cap it all, while we were pre- flighting the plane at the end of our trip, I realised that I had left some clothes in the hotel. I rang and asked if they could put the items in a taxi to the airport. But no, the duty manager drove to the airport with my stuff, and would take no payment! That is what I call service!! Brilliant Thank you

Brought my 88 year old father here for a few days to revisit Guernsey after coming on family holidays decades ago. Even before arrival we were made to feel welcome in the online communication with the hotel. Once we were actually there the whole staff of the hotel could not have been more helpful, or showed more attention to detail. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent, both at breakfast and in the evening. The decor and ambience of the hotel were really enjoyable. Thank you very much for a great holiday.

Staying in youth hostels is more our style so this was a very special trip to celebrate a special birthday and beating cancer. OGH beat all expectations, from the champagne and delicious birthday cake waiting in bedroom - with eight foot wide bed,to the delightful views from our windows over the harbour. The attention from the staff has been amazing, everyone has been smiling, friendly, helpful and insistent that nothing is too much trouble. We loved the pool, the spa and all our breakfasts in the garden. Can't recommend this hotel too much.

I was welcomed like an "old" friend when I returned. Everyone remembered my name. There were a lot of hugs and smiles. What a treat. The ladies at the reception are the friendliest I have every met. I was also happy to meet Harry C. Seepaul again and as before we had a friendly chat. I have never been to a hotel before where all the employees are so professional and friendly. Thanks again I already miss everyone of you.
The room was prepared like the years before. The neck pillow was ready so were the two bottles of still water someone thought about me not liking sparkling water.
The food at the Brasserie breakfast and lunch/dinner was perfect. As the year before I had my favourites, North Indian chicken curry and Rib Eye of English beef. Room service as always was excellent as well the sandwiches were very appetizing.
Having the musicians from the Town Carnival playing at the hotel was also a great idea and the guests enjoyed it very much. During other times the pianist was doing a great job he even played "Danny Boy" two times two different versions especially for me.
What a great surprise receiving an email from the General Manager Andrew Chantrell after arriving back home something I do appreciate very much.
I will return again next year.

This is Guernsey’s only 5 star hotel and it feels like it. In the centre of St Peter Port with great views over the harbour is is fabulously located. The staff cannot do enough for you and the service is excellent from all departments. The food in the brasserie is also excellent…we didn’t eat in the Indian restaurant in the hotel so can’t pass comment on that. But the attitude of the hotel is summed up by a phase on the brasserie menu that announces (sic) that if there is nothing on the menu to whet your appetite then the reader is invited to ask for what he/she would like and the hotel will do its best to deliver. To that point, it might be worthwhile having more than one daily special to offer more than just a special fish option on the brasserie menu
We stayed there in July for 5 days along with our 25 year old son who we had taken to the same hotel as his first holiday nearly 25 years ago. In 1990 it was a hotel that looked as if it was trading on former glories and was in need of a make-over. And a makeover it has clearly had. Great Spa and Gym, cosy outside pool, comfortable lounges and bars and a very pleasant garden area make it a very nice place to be when the sun is shining and the sky is blue.
Our only ‘area for development’ would be related to the size of some of the rooms which can be described as very well equipped but ‘cosy’
We were all very sorry to leave and will definitely go back.

We stayed in a superior sea view room with balcony and it lived up to our expectation. The room was spacious with furnishing to match the hotel including a large and comfy bed but we enjoyed the balcony the most with a super view over the town and harbour. The breakfasts were excellent with an extensive choice and lovely surroundings. We did not have the evening meals in the hotel as there were some lovely places to eat in town. I can confirm that we found all the staff friendly and helpful.

We recently stayed three nights at the OGH Hotel and it would be one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at. The rooms are spacious, with two arm chairs to sit in and the bathroom had a separate bath and shower. The room was well air-conditioned and the wifi was free and of good quality.

There would be rooms in the hotel that have harbour views, but we were not in one. The hotel has a number of quiet rooms to have a drink in. Breakfast was served in a conservatory overlooking the pool area, we ate breakfast outside in the garden, very pleasant. The ambience of the hotel is one that makes you feel very special, without the staff being stand offish or remote, in fact they are very friendly. There is a lift for those who find stairs difficult.

The hotel is located on a hill quite close to the shopping precinct, and just below the Candie Gardens and museum.

An historic top notch hotel located in the center of St Peter Port a few minutes walk up the hill from the harbour. High quality service makes the OGH the best hotel in town. Location is reasonable quite. Good restaurant.

Guernsey is a wonderful, inviting island with great food, engaging people, and interesting sites. A hotel should reflect the local aesthetic and The Old Government House Hotel does so perfectly.

The lobby of the hotel is small but inviting. There is coffee in the morning and fruit all day long. The restaurants are superb. Breakfast is delicious and the restaurant inviting. The numerous bars are cosy with excellent cocktails. High tea is a treat.

The outdoor pool is well kept and warmer than most pools any English town. The spa is beautiful and well kept.

The staff is helpful beyond what is expected from a 5 star hotel. From valet parking to restaurant reservations to cleaning staff, there was never a misstep. Knowledgable and friendly, staff truly make you feel at home.

The rooms are well kept and clean. Although my room was not overly large, it had a great view of the harbor. There is a great supply of tea and coffee with cookies and bottled water. The bathroom is large and well stocked. My only complaint would be that the shower was a tad tight. Hard to turn around in it. The bathtub, on the other hand, was more than ample.

Internet was fast and reliable. The TV (hardly used) had a great choice of channels. The location is outstanding. Just a block away from the hubbub yet a stone's throw from anywhere you'd want to be.

By all means, if you can afford it, choose this hotel above all others in Guernsey.

We have just returned from a week's holiday at this hotel. Everything is perfect. The staff are excellent. The food is first class. We have stayed in many hotels in this country and in Europe and the United Sates of America. This is the best hotel we have stayed in in the United Kingdom. The only one that comes close to this is the Bauer Hotel in Venice but even then it is a very close call. We tested the water by staying at the Acorn Inn in Dorset and we call it the gem in Dorset. This is the diamond in Guernsey. Whoever is responsible for the organisation and training of staff in this hotel really knows what they are doing. We will be back and thank you to you all for making our stay most enjoyable. Roger and Pat Vernall Room 209

My partner and i have just returned from an amazing night in this hotel. This hotel is truly 5 star. The hotel itself is classy, the rooms are beautiful as are the bathrooms. The place is immaculately clean and the service is unbeatable. There is a lovely pool area to sunbathe, very comfortable sun loungers and towels provided. The staff are very professional, polite and helpful. We ordered breakfast in bed and it was a delight, everything you could ask for with very generous portions. Nothing was too much trouble. This hotel has a very classy, romantic and beautiful atmosphere. The afternoon tea is lovely as well. The drinks were not overpriced either which is unusual for a hotel of this standard. Cannot thank the staff enough for a memorable stay. I will definitely be returning.

This was our second visit to the hotel, having impressed us last year we couldnt wait to go back, and they did not disapoint us.
Every aspect of the hotel itself and the service you receive is superb and I dont have a single complaint apart from having to leave and go home.
Afternoon Tea was spectacular and although we couldn't finish it, it was boxed up for us and we enjoyed it later on in our room.
I just love the many little details, like a different treat left on your pillow every night when returning to your room & a hand written card to welcome you back.
I really wish we could have stayed longer but we will definately be back.

We have stayed at OGH for a number of years and have always enjoyed our stay there. It is the perfect venue to relax and enjoy a break and it will always be our preferred choice. There is nothing that can be improved on as every detail is taken care of by the OGH team who ensure every lives up to our expectations.
The accommodation reflects the exceptional standards OGH maintains.
The location is ideal being near to the town for shopping and the harbour for tours around and off the Island.

We stayed here for a long weekend Friday to Monday every member of staff could not do enough for us. Bianca in reception, Stewart at the concierge to Ken in the restaurant even Paul the pianist made our stay enjoyable. The hotel is Old (Old Government House) but the standards are high food is good Very good especially the full English breakfast we will stay here again. We stayed in a room overlooking the harbour as we were given an upgrade at a reduced cost but we did look at other rooms which we would not have been disappointed with and next time we are likely to go for a room overlooking the pool/courtyard. Thank you OGH see you again soon.

Yes, I like this place. The rooms are clean and comfy and the hotel is possibly the best on the island.
Yes, the rooms are expensive, but I felt we got value for money. The staff are also excellent and no request is too much trouble
One small gripe concerned our room key/card - it kept on requiring re-programming., but again, the staff sorted the issue as soon as possible.
The restaurant (Brasserie) is pretty good too. We didn't try the curry restaurant as we didn't want to be the only people in the room!
I would return to this establishment

We stayed for a week at the end of June 2015 and enjoyed every moment of our stay. This really is a superbly run hotel which lives up to its 5 star rating. Particularly well located in the heart of St Peter Port, our room overlooked the harbour so that every morning we awoke to lovely views over the town and harbour. The staff, without exception, were engaging and helpful and their happy demeanour added significantly to the quality of our holiday. It would be invidious to select individuals - but the Brasserie staff and the Concierge team excelled. We will certainly consider a return visit. M & D Cole

We were booked in for a single night at the 'OGH' - as, we were told by the taxi driver, the locals call - and we weren't disappointed.
You enter into a stunning entrance lobby with extremely welcoming and friendly reception staff.
Our Queen room was delightful with plenty of space in the room as a whole, a comfortable seating area and a lovely bathroom to one side. Plenty of storage and an unexpected turn-down service.
On the Saturday we took tea on the patio and evening drinks in the lounge....all of which were served by very cheerful and attentive staff.....we especially liked our Dutch waiter who took the time to describe the hotel's facilities should we decide to hold meetings at the establishment in the future.
After an extremely tasty breakfast on the Sunday morning the hotel's concierge, Robbie, was extremely helpful when we suddenly decided to go for a coastal walk before our flight home on the Sunday.
All in all a very lovely couple of relaxing days were had in beautiful surroundings...both at the hotel and on the island in general.

My husband and I popped into this hotel for a coffee one very rainy Monday afternoon. We explained that we were looking for a restaurant in which to celebrate my birthday on the Wednesday. The member of staff, Tony, was extremely helpful in telling us about the hotel, its restaurants, the surrounding area etc.. We were so impressed by his professional but warm customer service, in addition to the fabulous views from the hotel, that we returned to the hotel to lunch on the terrace over looking St. Peter's Port and the sea, for my birthday lunch. Lunch was great - we had some South African dishes washed down with bubbly - sitting in the sunshine looking at the wonderful view - a perfect way to spend a birthday lunch. Definitely worth a visit to this lovely hotel. Thank you to Tony for his great customer care.

Breakfasts were a highlight. Copious supplies of freshest fruit were available with cooked breakfasts. Service very attentive but unobtrusive.

King sized room very spacious. King size bed was 'imperial' size and got lost in it.

Great central location.

Unfortunately, neither heated pool nor TV in room were operational during our stay but staff tried to compensate for this by complementary drinks etc.

Great variety of teas, coffees, hot chocolate in room.

Hotel quite busy, so plenty of buzz around but not too busy either. Hotel seems to be used both for holiday and business purposes.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel entrance the reception staff made us feel very welcome, porter removed our luggage to our room and then parked my car in a secure parking area.
We had a very nice room overlooking the garden and pool area with a nice
view of the sea, all the usual 5 star service came with room.
the lunches were superb sitting outside in a beautiful Olive tree area enjoying the superb Sottish Smoked Salmon and excellent Chilled Chenin Blanc, Sunshine and shade as you want.
The hotel is set in a very nice area that gives a short walk to the harbour and town centre with all the shops you want.
The restaurant food is excellent served on roomy tables with superb service, the excellent breakfast starts off with a superb selection of fresh fruit, fresh juices and
various muesli
.Walking in the morning, lunch in the Patio sunbathing in the afternoon on the hotel poolside , so soo sooo easy.
We stayed a week and loved this hotel, staff are very efficient, with a very relaxing and happy atmosphere .

We will be back, Thank you very much for a faultless stay in Old Government House.

It was my first business trip to Guernsey and I was delighted with the hotel chosen for my stay. The Old Government House Hotel is a beautiful classic hotel. I had a room with a closed terrace overlooking the east with amazing views of the sea and the sunrise.
Breakfast was very good and so was the dinner I had at the Brasserie.
A word of advice - pay close attention to the way leading to your room , Being a real old government house the corridors reminds me of a maze but if you follow the signs you won't get lost.
I'll be back

Our first visit to OGH (and Guernsey in fact) and loved it.

The hotel lived up to all expectations.

Good service from pre booking enquiries until we left. Hotel is ideally situated with no more than a 2 minute walk into the centre.

We ate in the brasserie twice and were impressed both times - we would have liked to have tried the Governors club (curry), but have saved this to next time. Breakfast is also excellent with a good choice of fresh fruit, fresh juices, homemade jam and a la carte hot items.

All the hotel facilities are 5 star and we liked all the different bars and public areas.

All staff were exceptional.

We had a king double and thought the room was excellent providing everything we needed including quality toiletries, complimentary tea, coffee & mineral water and a very comfy bed.

We love to try new places and don't often return - this isn't the case with OGH and we are already considering an autumn break.
