Got lost a few times with the varying corridors and stairways. Room very comfortable and clean if not a bit dated. Buffet breakfast excellent. Bar very nice for pre / post dinner drink.
Staff extremely helpful and very friendly, helped me out organising an appointment & transport to the local doctors for minor medical condition I was experiencing.
My room had a lovely view across the terrace and park beyond. Good location sitting on top of a hill, easy walk to town centre.

We stayed at the Duke of Richmond for the second time in just over 2 months. The room second time around didn't have a sea view, but the outlook was still over a quiet street and park, so not too bad. As with our first stay, the staff and food were both excellent. The prices aren't cheap, but the quality and service are very good. The pool is very nice and the hotel provide nice soft towels, iced soft juices and even sun tan products, something i've not seen before at a hotel. Its not somewhere i would stop every trip, due to the price, however, its definately worth it for a treat!

A nice quiet and comfortable hotel in a good setting, if a little far from some of the better restaurants.

Hotel staff are welcoming and friendly and rooms spacious, quiet and comfortable.

Gives all you would expect in the price range.

We have stopped in the OGH and much preferred the DOR. WE like this group of hotels and invariably have great service. The hotel manager was very visible and took time to engage with guests. The front of house team were all very friendly, helpful and informative. Our room was lovely, very spacious and well appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and will return next time we are on the island.

Certainly not cheap and the rooms are New York size rather than spacious, but this is a good place to stay in an ever more expensive Guernsey. Within walking distance of the city centre, this very comfortable hotel has a great restaurant and the staff cannot be faulted.

Party of four of us stayed last week, in two superior rooms. The rooms were spacious, superbly decorated to a high class, beds as comfortable as you could wish for and truely King size. Decor throughtout the hotel was to a high standard and can be described as quirky. Service and staff were top notch, while not always a fan of dining in a hotel, the menu and food were superb.Looking forward to staying here again.

My wife and I stayed at the Duke of Richmond over the Easter weekend on a getaway from London. We booked transport with the hotel directly which I would highly recommend anyone doing, it is very convenient and the best way to get an introduction to Guernsey on the way. The arrival was fantastic warm friendly and made us feel like old friends returning. We dined in the hotel on both night and I can assure you it is a fantastic experience not to be missed, Guernsey itself is a lovely island with some great walks and local shops to explore. The coastline is very rugged and the hotel Manager Lukas gave us a great recommendation for a fantastic walk and a great little hidden pub right on the coast. The room was amazing too filled with special Easter goodies as well, the view from the balcony was of the island which was brilliant to wake up to every morning

Do yourself a favour and have a drink in the bar too, it is quaint and beautifully decorated with an amazing cocktail and wine list, something that is not found everywhere on the island.

We will definitely be back, it was an amazing and relaxing experience which we both cant wait to repeat.

Went last Saturday with my daughter and grand-daughter for afternoon tea. It's been a long time since I've visited the hotel and what a lovely place.
Once seated in the airy and bright conservatory, we had ample time to choose which tea to order and the choice of teas (for a coffee drinker) was interesting. I choose the spiced apple, the others choose earl grey and fruity berry. It was a bonus to find that the teas were leaf and not any bagged varieties in sight! The waiter who brought the food explained what the sandwiches were and the nice selection of cakes plus scones, jam and clotted cream,. A very pleasant and relaxing afternoon, with perfect company. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the overall service was excellent.
I would definitely recommend a visit for the experience.

My wife and I recently stayed for one week at The Duke of Richmond hotel.
The room that had been allocated to us was not really suitable for a stay of 7 days and, to be fair, the front of house manager, Jo, sorted things out very quickly and we moved to a bigger room.
Overall it is an excellent hotel with good, efficient and friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent and the several dinners that we had during our stay were also very good.

Stayed here on a tour of the Channel Islands in May. Hotel is beautifully appointed, service is attentive and personal and staff very obliging. Any request was dealt with effortlessly and efficiently. Being a part of the Red Carnation Group of hotels it fulfilled their high standards perfectly. Service and food in the restaurant and bar are great and the breakfasts were extensive and efficiently served. The walk from St Peter Port to the hotel up the hill through gardens offers lovely views over the harbour. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great place to stay for a long weekend! Quirky, and the little touches like the jelly beans and homemade ice tea really make it stand out. Staff were helpful and attentive and the breakfast was lovely. We'll be back

Great service. Funky boutique hotel. Can't quite figure out what the decor is Lots of glass and chrome with some Leopard theme though out with the odd full coat of armor thrown in. Upgrade to the junior suites well worth the extra cost. Can't think of anything you would for want for within this price range. 3rd stay and will definatley be back.

It's a bit of a hike into town. great going as it's all down hill so just 10 minutes but prepared for some exercise to the climb back up. May not be good for those that are less energetic. Only reason I give it 4 stars vs 5.

This is the best hotel we have stayed at for quite some time! and we travel very frequently. All of the staff are amazing and It would not be fair to just point out one only. The Hotel has many beautiful finishing touches, it is nice to sit in the bar area and just look around at the interesting objects on view. This hotel is on par with 5 start hotels that we have stayed at. I will certainly return there and I highly recommend it for other travelers.

I normally stay at the sister hotel to this one - OGH - but as I left booking rather late it was a little beyond what I was prepared to pay for a business stop over trip so I booked into The Duke of Richmond instead. From what I heard this hotel has recently undergone a wide scale refurbishment and it certainly shows. The rooms are interesting, though mine was a really odd shape - a sort of long triangle, the communal areas fun and breakfast just delicious. Very good - I am already booked in to stay again. A word of warning though, it is about a 15 minute walk into the centre of town down quite a steep hill, not that we minded.

This is a review of the restaurant.

I had the good fortune to be taken out for a meal here by a group of generous friends. It was an evening to remember and the food was an key element of that.

The service was good given the challenge of the size of our large party. The portions didn't look huge to begin with but were deceptively more than adequate. Everything was presented imaginatively and very 'cleanly'. The tastes were subtle and complimentary.

The range of drinks - liquors, coffees and the rest was extensive.

A very enjoyable evening with great food and service. I'd happily return.

Booked at very short notice,a long weekend break at the Duke of Richmond hotel staying Thursday to Monday in a classic double room on the top floor. The room was as advertised and had every comfort although was a little cramped- the bathroom, toiletries shower etc we're all excellent as was the quality of the bed and the cleanliness of the room throughout. The hotel's best asset is the quality of its staff who went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant stay.
The restaurant staff were brilliant led by the tireless Olga and Bianca who ensured that you were well catered for at breakfast and dinner. During a very busy weekend with a big wedding party and Sunday lunch crowd, the lovely Tamara made sure that the residents in the bar or on the terrace were looked after.
Simona in reception was another exceptional member of staff- arranged for me to get access to the Beau Sejour leisure centre( 3 minutes walk away) with a discount card to go to the excellent gym and full sized swimming pool for my daily exercise. She also sorted our restaurant bookings in town ,airport taxis and printed out our boarding passes for our return.
The local buses were really good- we got a No 91or 92 from the bus terminus and went the whole way round the island for £1 each and it took 90 mins in total. Every journey on any bus is £1 and there is comprehensive coverage over the island- no need to hire a car!
Can highly recommend the boat trip to Herm.(only £12 return)

Just back from a five night stay at the D of R. One of the best hotels we have stayed in. The facilities are excellent including the biggest bed we've ever slept in, but our stay was made special by the staff. The food was rather good too!

We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The hotel looks as if it has just been refurbished and it's beautifully done. The common parts are impressive and our room was good although very small.
All of the staff were helpful and appeared to take real pride in their work.
Our only bugbear was the parking or lack of it. The hotel itself has only 4 spaces and parking in all of the surrounding roads is restricted. Fortunately we had a tiny car and found a space about 200-300 hundred yards away each night which was a bit tiresome.

I have just had a wonderful business trip at this hotel. The attention to detail has been incredible from the moment I have arrived. The hotel found out it was my birthday and had made me a beautiful hand made cake and everyone at breakfast sang happy birthday. The atmosphere here is great and the staff are lovely. Lukas the manager is probably one of the best I have spoken to. I do quite a bit of travel and fortunate to have stayed in some amazing hotels. The rooms are spotless with lovely linens. I cannot wait to return to clearly a special hotel oh and the food is wonderful.

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks vacation on the lovely Island of Guernsey. We stayed at the Duke of Richmond Hotel. We were absolutely satisfied with everything the hotel offered. Our Room, Herme was just gorgeous, the staff, attended to every detail and request without hesitation. The beverages were of a very high quality. We shall visit it again in the not to distant future. We did not use the Spa, Gym or pool, but we did not expect the Hotel to have facilities that compete with Fitness centres, but having viewed them, we feel that they are adequate for a stay of seven days.

I have never written a review before but after staying for 3 nights last weekend felt I should. I was in a group doing the annual island walk and we were impressed with the hotel and staff from when we arrived. Then when the hotel found out we were doing the walk they left energy drinks/bars in our rooms and had water and bananas ready for us when we left at 4am to do the walk. On our return in the evening having completed the walk we were given free celebratory drinks at the bar. Guernsey was lovely and I'll definitely be returning and when I do will certainly book in to the DOR.

Prompt and friendly check in designer chic hotel look. Room small but very well furnished with high quality soft furnishings, also spotless as was the small bathroom. First class beds with nice quality linen. Even though there was a large wedding on there was no disturbance or noise as the conference rooms are in the basement of the hotel. Staff are very welcoming and offer a 5 star service with a smile. Breakfast was outstanding, everything was of a high standard as was the menus and service, the kitchen is open for guests to view. Sheltered heated pool though we did not try it. Plenty of outdoor seating, and the hotel offers afternoon tea that equals any and is good value. Within a short walk are beautiful gardens that offer tea rooms with views that are unrivalled, that you could spend hours enjoying.

Now on to how they need to improve: Dinner menus limited and while not overpriced are not what they say on the ticket and that goes for the special board. If you ask if they are whole fish, they say yes and then you get a half fillet, although the quality is average, and as another example I have never come across a hotel that offers scallops and asparagus and then only serves up the asparagus as a source, when one would expect fresh shoots. Very disappointing and when a complaint was made all one gets is a sorry with no effort to correct the misleading statements made verbally and in writing. The service was also disappointing as the Polish staff were having private conversations rather than providing the service one would expect and is standard at breakfast. All in all though they are very pleasant and friendly, look smart and are willing. You would have to go far to better them even at the OGH, in fact other guests whom that have also stayed at the OGH are of the vies that the staff are 5star and would prefer to stay here. One guest we spoke too had an accident at the hotel breaking her wrist, only had praise for all the staff and the hospital in the Island having had to have pins inserted in her hand.
One other small thing, the bath towels are very small if you are large but they have very nice thick dressing gowns in every room.
