My partner and I stayed at the hotel last week for my birthday. The hotel staff could not be more accomodating and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Our first day there they gave us as many information as we needed; always with a smile! The hotel itself is really nice, very cozy and in a great location. When we returned in the evening there was a nice cake and a message from the Management, with the compliments of the hotel. Rooms are well appointed with all the comforts. Breakfast was also excellent and the staff very attentive. I am sincerely looking forward to go back as soon as I can!

I stayed here overnight on a business trip and all told it was very good with just one or two details letting it down for me.

The staff at the hotel were excellent, very welcoming, friendly and attentive and you'd could tell that they knew some of the regular guests well.

The room was nice enough although the bathroom a bit on the small side. There was a good selection of TV channels and free wifi with a code you get on the card when you check in.

The odd things about this hotel is that it has some really nice little quirks, jars of sweets in the public areas that you can help yourself too, there's a robe and slippers in the room to use and a good selection of toiletries. Then some small details that just seem out of character, like instant Nescafé coffee in the room, truly awful, an over bath shower that was not all that great, no iron or ironing board, you have to ask for one and then probably the smallest towels I have found in all the hotels I've stayed in!, Think a super max hand towel! Strange really given that it does so many other things so well.

Would I stay here again? Yes, but I'd take my own coffee and probably a towel too!

When we arrived the receptionist gave us a very warm welcome, she give us our room key and said that if we would like to upgrade we could do so. As we were visiting relatives they also accompanied us to our room which was first class but not big enough so we asked to look at other rooms, this was no problem as the young man who had brought are bags went off and returned with 3 room keys, he took us to the rooms and we decided to take room 212 which was big and well presented. During our 4 day stay the staff throughout the hotel were excellent nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed our breakfast with plenty to choose from (hot and Cold). We also invited our relatives back to the hotel for a evening meal the night before we were due to leave and everyone praised the staff. The menu had a full selection of food, Fish Steak etc- the Lamb and Lemon soul were fantastic. When we go back to Guernsey again we will defiantly stay in this hotel

Me, my wife and our 2 year old had a fantastic little break at this lovely hotel. We had a huge room with a king size bed, and they knew we were with a baby and provided a cotbed aswell. The food was excellent, our baby was very fussy at breakfast and sfaff offered different options of breakfast for our baby. A big Thank you to Nuria who was so attentive to our baby boy. We will stay there again if we visit Guernsey.

The room, the attention to detail and the whole hotel was amazing, and the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. And tea at the Old Government House Hotel, the other hotel of the Red Carnation Group is a must!

We stayed two nights as a part of a tour.
The room was a reasonable size and was clean, tasteful and comfortable. It contained a large bed, two chairs and coffee table as well as two small desks.
The bathroom is a reasonable size and has a combined shower and bath.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with.
The hotel is in a reasonable location in St. Peters port and a short walk to Candie Gardens, the museum, Victoria Tower and not far from the Centre of town and the water front.

The first reason I chose was because I saw it's dog friendly and I wanted to visit it with my best friend Izo (small shihtzu dog).
Even before arriving the hotel, I could feel that our stay at The Duke of Richmond hotel is going to be one of those unique stays that we will probably remember for long time.
After booking we got email with our special request for the room and for my dog (bed, treats, food, bags, etc).
The ride from London to Weymouth was not easy (long!) and then ferry to Guernsey. The hotel is located few minutes by car from the ferry area..
When we entered the hotel the receptionist were very happy to see us (not fake ones as many other hotels) and within few seconds they remembered all our names (I was with my 2 friends and their dog as well).
They treated Izo (my dog) as he was one of the guests in the hotel (took picture of him and created door sign for him). And explained us about the hotel and the Island.
The room was very big, comfortable and got everything needed. Bed was so welcoming that I didn't want to leave it in the mornings.
Breakfast was divine and memorable and was tailored for everyone's taste (i would only add variety of cheese to make it Perfect).
During all stay the entire staff were very friendly (how do they manage to have so many happy employees?!) and we felt so welcomed there.
Outside of the hotel there's a big park (cambridge park) where I could walk with Izo in the morning.
On my titles I mentioned personalized because it felt that they thought of every little detail to make the stay very pleasant so we felt that we get amazing return for our money.
If you ever thinking of going to Guernsey, there's not doubt that your desicion should be The Duke Of Richmond Hotel which is now place on my top 5 worldwide hotels. (I wish i could duplicated this hotel and staff to a warmer place which was the only thing that was annoying on our stay- the weather).

First visit to Guernsey, disappointing weather and much messing with delayed ferry services etc etc. So - thank goodness for the Duke of Richmond Hotel! The staff, the accommodation, the food (in particular, breakfast to die for) - everything about the place was designed to give us a luxurious and relaxing stay. Don't be put off by the somewhat uninspiring frontage of the hotel; inside, where it matters, it is a delightful place to spend a few days. If ever we go back to Guernsey, this is where we will stay.

With friends, we planned an England trip around a wedding on the Channel Island of Guernsey. We had no idea where to stay, but the happy couple suggested the Duke of Richmond Hotel. After some research, we decided to go for it. What a wonderful choice! Sumptuous rooms and wonderful amenities (including breakfast) for a very reasonable price. Delightful food, a great bar and stunning pool. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. And the property is absolutely close to everything. Although it has a pretty primitive work out facility, they have a sister property with a wonderful spa and day privileges at a local gym, so it's all good. If you plan a trip to Guernsey, this is the place to stay. If you never thought about Guernsey, think about it. A truly stunning setting to relax, with charm, quiet times and an incredible history. I plan to go back.

My wife and I spent three nights over our 42 second wedding anniversary here and have to say we were very impressed. The food was excellent and the staff were fautless. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and left the Island with wonderful memories.

There are so many times that I fully intend to write a review after a good experience in a hotel and restaurant but never get around to it. On this occasion however the staff and overall stay were so exceptional I really do have to take the time to say what a wonderful time we all had on our recent stay. My wife and I decided to take advantage of the great weather and as previous visitors of Guernsey we decided to pop over with a couple of friends. All four of us could not have been more impressed with the amazing service from everyone in this beautiful hotel. We have stayed in other hotels on the island but this was by far the best. The room with its sea view and balcony overlooking the sea was amazing (well worth paying the little extra), the bar and restaurant were warm and welcoming. The food was amazing and the glass walls allowing you to see the chefs preparing the meals was a nice touch. The sunny terrace where we all enjoyed the most delicious afternoon tea was a real pleasure. A special mention to the lovely Carmen in the bar who 'makes the best mojitos in the world' (according to my wife). Many of the other guests were equally impressed by her cocktail making skills. She even took the time to give us all a spontaneous cocktail making class where we happily experimented with different drinks. I look forward to going back!!

Have just returned from spending four wonderful nights at the Duke of Richmond Hotel. It was such a warm welcome on arrival, and this continued throughout our stay. All the staff were friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The room was fantastic, with a view over St Peter Port. All the meals were excellent, and it was a real treat to be able to watch the chefs cooking..such professionalism under such pressure. Our anniversary was highlighted by the hotel with champagne and a delightful chocolate platter. Such a surprise, but most gratefully received. We felt very spoilt from start to finish, but I have to say this was thanks to all the staff who made us feel so welcome. Always referring to us by name, and always happy to help. The little things that make such a difference and make you want to return time and again! We have stayed in many hotels throughout the world, but this was certainly the most memorable for all the right reasons. Will definitely be trying some of the other hotels in the Red Carnation portfolio. Once again, many thanks for a fantastic time. I will certainly never forget my silver wedding anniversary.Thank you!!

I stayed here for two nights over the weekend and would thoroughly recommend it. The room was clean and comfortable with a robe, slippers and complimentary toiletries, coffee and water. Breakfast was very good, and afternoon tea was delicious. Best of all were the staff - welcoming, friendly and happy to help.

I only stayed at this hotel for one night and by the end, I wished I was staying for longer. All of the staff were extremely friendly when we checked in and they provided complimentary iced tea at the desk.
Our room was fantastic. There were no faults. We stayed in room 410 and I would 100% recommend it. It had an amazing view of the town and it was so spacious.
Although we didn't have dinner at the hotel, we had drinks at the leopard bar. All of the bar staff were so friendly and made great cocktails.
Breakfast was also amazing. There was a small buffet for cold dishes such as fruits and cereals. Then you were given a menu of all of the hot dishes provided.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for anyone, even it is just for one night. Everyone is so welcoming and even the other guests are friendly. It is in a great location and I would definitely return in the future.

2 nights in May - absolutely excellent. The staff were great, some really nice touches. When we went out for a morning run we came back to bottles of water and towels set out "for runners and walkers". Lovely room, breakfast very good, everything we needed laid on, everyone was very kind to us. Will go back.

Upon check in I was offered an upgraded room, which was a nice touch and the room was excellent. The reception staff were very helpful and attentive and it seemed that nothing would be too much trouble. The room itself was spotless and well equipped. The shower in particular was very powerful. The evening menu was exceptional with a wide choice. The food I picked was wonderfully cooked. After an early meeting I had a late breakfast, which was served in the conservatory, and was also excellent. At all times the customer service was second to none and all the staff I met during my stay should be commended.

Four of us stayed for a long weekend to celebrate a 70th Birthday. The rooms which had balconies facing the sea were beautifully decorated and the beds were amazing. The turn down service which we had each night was a lovely touch. In reception there are free sweets, coffee and water and even towels if you wanted to go for a run in the morning and ice tea in the afternoon. The best thing about this hotel are its staff. They couldn't do enough. Service at its best. The choice at breakfast was fantastic. Anything you could think of was there as a choice. The bar area is very small and was busy each night so the terrace was great for pre dinner drinks, if it had heating it would be even better but in the summer months it would be really great. The food in the restaurant was of a good standard but more like pub/bistro choices on the menu. All in all if we were to come back to Guernsey there would only be one place we would stay and that is "The Duke of Richmond. Many thanks to all the staff you are a credit to Red carnation hotels.

We stayed here for a couple of nights over the Easter weekend. Rarely in a hotel are we treated as people, and this hotel is brilliant at. Customer Service is superb, as was Easter Sunday lunch. We will be back, and thank you for a lovely stay

This hotel is excellent. We came here 5 years ago and liked it, but the refurb and rejuvenation of services has made this an amazing place to stay, if old or young or with dogs. Rooms are beautifully decorated and bathrooms nice and new with great power showers. We also stayed here (instead of OGH), because of the park opposite which is lovely to walk dog first/last thing. Parking opposite is handy although only 4 spaces can be limiting. Main plus point though is the quality of staff, all brilliant and we felt really looked after. If pushed to pick one I would give top award to Carina in the dining room. One last comment (although won't give it away for others) was the surprise "notification" for the dog - probably the best touch of any hotel I have stayed in. Compared to lots of average hotels, this hotel stands out of the crowd and should be picked without hesitation. Thanks all.

I recently stayed at the Duke of Richmond and loved it.

Was there for 4 nights in early April 2014. The staff was helpful from the moment I pulled up juggling 3 bags. My room couldn't have been better - beautifully decorated, beyond comfortable (sofa, easy chair, desk, breakfast table with 2 side chair which I rearranged to take advantage of the great view of the Channel in the distance).

Loved breakfast in Leopard Bar & Restaurant - good food, beautiful decor, great views, staff was friendly and accommodating - recognized me on the second morning and asked if I wanted a double latte. Went out of their way to make sure everything was to my liking.

A short stroll to the Harbor through beautiful gardens and charming streets. I'm a runner - ran to the Castle and Aquarium ... a nice loop.

Would have liked to spend more time and explore. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

We have recently returned from a two night stay at the hotel and we can't rate the hotel highly enough. The rich splendor of the reception was an indication of the unique, luxurious decoration and attention to detail throughout the hotel. Our room was wonderful - extremely comfortable and very spacious, especially when compared to a London hotel. We were fortunate to have a balcony on which to enjoy the lovely view of the bay. We enjoyed a delicious evening meal in the hotel and the quality of the breakfast was excellent. Without exception all of the staff were extremely courteous and committed to ensuring that our short stay was very special. We can't wait to return!

I don't know what is required for a hotel to have 5 stars, but for me, staying at the Duke of Richmond was a five star experience. We stayed in a junior suite which was beautifully decorated and which had a very spacious terrace on which we could sit and relax. Everything was spotlessly clean and both bedding and towels were of a very high quality. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - this hotel clearly spends time on staff training - and both we and our two dogs felt very looked after. (Our dogs were presented with home made doggy treats and very plush beds which put ours at home to shame. Shortly after arrival we were given a specially made doggy door hang with a picture of our dogs, to indicate whether we were in or out of the room). There is some reserved parking outside the hotel and also parking controlled by a parking clock next to the hotel. We didn't have any particular problem parking but at very busy times, I think this could be a potentially problem, although the staff will do their best to help out. This is a truly fabulous hotel and we would thoroughly recommend it.

I stayed at the duke for four nights and it was a lovely experience. The room was gorgeous, breakfast delightful and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the room didn't come with an iron, the bathroom was very small and felt a bit outdated, and on the day of my departure the staff were not as professional as expected. The overall experience was still very good though and I would definitely stay here again.

This was my first trip to Guernsey and the team at the Duke of Richmond made it memorable. The island itself is beautiful and the Duke of Richmond hotel is a gem. My room was tastefully decorated, in a traditional style, whilst the bathroom and the facilities were modern. I had the pleasure of dining twice at the restaurant and the food was delicious (in particular the cheesecake). Breakfast was lovely too but the thing that really stood out was the attentive service by the team there. Thank you Duke of Richmond, I'll be back!
