From the moment we walked through the door, all the staff couldn't do enough for us. Aaron on reception gave us some great cake-hunting tips, Orlando the restaurant manager was charming and accommodating every night, Marieta and Olga in the restaurant were ever attentive to our every need, we could go on... And this is before we have even talked about the hotel itself, which was of a very high quality and the room was not only well appointed but had a heavenly and enormous bed. Full marks, well deserved.

While in Guernsey for business I had the pleasure of staying at the Duke of Richmond for an extended period of time. I enjoyed the experience immensely and could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. The room was very well kept, comfortable and always clean upon my return from work. The front desk staff were always very pleasant and accommodating for any needs from booking a taxi to recommending dining options. The restaurant onsite was a very enjoyable experience that I took advantage of on several occasions during my stay. It is beautifully situated on the hilltop overlooking Cambridge Park steps away from Candie Gardens and the beautiful museum there rich with the history of Guernsey. Look no further than the Duke of Richmond for your stay in Guernsey. It is top notch!

Hotel quirky in terms of design; staff wonderful, very attentive, highly efficient and professional.hotel spotless. Only negative was the fact that our room was quite small but this a minor issue in overall experience. Food superb; breakfast cooked to order, great choice.

This really is a wonderful hotel. The staff are polite and friendly and they cannot do enough for you. The room (213) we stopped in was very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was first class in every way (you really must try the steak, compliments to the Chef) The hotel is a 10 min walk from town which means that it has a quiet location... Always a plus. I don't understand how they manage to keep the hotel so amazingly clean.....but this really is a first rate hotel.

On arriving at this hotel the bell boy went out of his way to find and ensure we had a parking place for our car. I could not single out a single member of staff as being more friendly & helpful. The bell boy gave us a full tour of the hotel before then proceeding to our room. It was a lovely clean well appointed room and even had bath robes and slippers. The breakfast selection was excellent with fresh fruit, cereals etc. and then on to something cooked which could be as bespoke as you like. We had dinner in the hotel twice and even though the menu was a bit plain the specials board made up for it .The food quality could not be faulted in any way(try the cheese cake), it was just excellent and the staff were very attentive from showing us to our table through to the end of the meal. We were made to feel part of your family.
My only criticism was the hotel details implied that there was hotel parking. There are only 5 places, other than that you have to fight for a place on the road and then there are parking restrictions.
To sum up this hotel, we would defiantly stay again because it is such exceptional place. It was your personal service that my wife and I received which we have never received before.

We stayed at the Duke of Richmond for 3 nights in late August and had a really good and restful break. Our accommodation was in a 2nd floor sea view/balcony room which had sea glimpses - this was a really good choice as it was exceptionally comfortable and fairly spacious. All staff were extremely friendly, very helpful and did everything to make our break as enjoyable as possible. Olga (the restaurant maitre d') was exceptional and offered good suggestions as to menu choices and was always ready to assist.

The hotel is in a quiet area and is about 10 minutes walk from the High Street (slightly longer possibly on the way back because it is up hill).

This hotel is highly recommended.

Just got back from a 4 night stay at The Duke of Richmond Hotel and have had an excellent break. The hotel is furnished to a high standard and is kept spotlessly clean. As with other Red Carnation hotels we have visited the staff are extremely attentive and do their very best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We were travelling with our 9 year old daughter who was made to feel extremely special with her favourite drink purchased specially and brought to her room, a chefs hat and cupcake decorating session and despite the cool weather she was able to enjoy the pool which is heated. Breakfast is excellent and we enjoyed a very good evening meal. The hotel is well located just a 10-15 minute walk from the harbour front at St Peters Port and there is so much to do without the need for hiring a car. Highly recommended and will be booking again soon!

We stayed at the Duke of Richmond for four nights on the "4 nights for the price of 3" tariff during the second week of August. I travelled with my husband and grown up family for a short summer holiday and the entire hotel made us extremely welcome. We had a king room and a twin room. They were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. EVERYTHING was perfect.
Our funny memories will be our daughter asking for bananas, and our son having two breakfasts and we mustn't forget the tweets with DOR!!
Special mention must go to Lukas, Olga and Orlando. Your service, friendliness and attention to detail made our visit that much more special. THANK YOU! We will return very soon and look forward to meeting you all again.

We stayed for three nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Can honestly say that this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in, and we definitely had better service here than anywhere else we have stayed, ever! Orlando took the trouble to book a meal for us at another restaurant for our second night, and we ate at the hotel for the first and last nights. The food was very good, and the chef prepared a special vegetarian meal that was not on the menu. Our room was lovely, the bed very comfortable. All the staff were friendly, with nothing too much trouble. Thank you to everyone at the Duke of Richmond for ensuring we had a fantastic weekend - and thank you for the champagne.

After having returned to Germany safe and sound it is essential for me to say thank you again for a wonderful holiday. This time I got a "blue room" and I really loved it. The view was nice and enough space for all the stuff which I always need for a three weeks stay. The food was excellent and the service not only in the Restaurant, where Olga, Carina, Bianca and Orlando are taking a tantastic care for everybody, but also in all other parts of the hotel was awesome. As usual I was lucky with the weather and there is no better place for an afternoon coffee as on the terrace of the DOR. Thanks a lot and I definitely look forward to see everybody again next year.

We stayed for one night as part of our Honeymoon trip to the Channel Islands. We mentioned our recent wedding at check-in and within ten minutes of being shown our room, the concierge was knocking on our door with complimentary glasses of champagne 'in honour of our marriage'. The room was well appointed, with quality toiletries, fluffy and well-fitting robes and a very, very comfortable bed. We had an unplanned dinner in the restaurant and we were very thankful that the staff found us a table at the last minute. The restaurant staff were unbelievably efficient and we were impressed with the well presented and delicious food. Overall, we had a fabulous and memorable stay and we recommend this hotel unreservedly.

From arrival at the hotel to departure, we could not fault the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff. We had booked the wine tasting package which was hosted by Orlando and he introduced us to some wonderful red wines. He made the experience fun and we would recommend it to anyone. We were asked beforehand what type of wines we would like to sample. The quality of the food, cooking and presentation was excellent and we could not fault either this or the service. Thank you to Olga and all of the team! Please stay here if you can. We think you will not be disappointed!

Just returned from an all too brief stay whilst on business locally. It’s been over a year since I last stayed but was a very welcome return. The hotel is high quality in every respect but what sets it aside from other establishments is the staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble, they are always attentive but never intrusive. Olga who manages the team in the restaurant is exceptional, a consummate professional who goes out of her way to ensure you have a perfect dining experience, I’ve never been anything but delighted with the food it’s always fresh, tasty, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented . I would agree with another reviewer the standard rooms are not vast but they are spotlessly clean, very well appointed with high quality fixtures and fittings, if you need acres of space book a superior room or suite. I look forward to my next visit whenever that may be.

Stayed for 4 nights on business. Room was small but adequate and the decor was...colorful. Bed was excellent, and with a bad back, I tend to remember bad ones! Breakfast lovely, with very attentive but unobtrusive staff. Probably only reason I wouldn't award 5, is the lack of space to work in the room. Small desk and just a stool to sit on at correct height. Ate in the Leopard restaurant one evening and it was very good, look for the fish specials.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this great hotel. Excellent room, spotless with good facilities. We had a large sea view room which overlooked the terrace although admittedly the "sea view" was a bit of an exaggeration! We could see the sea- just a long way in the distance and view largely blocked by a tree. Great room nonetheless. Majority of staff really friendly and nothing too much trouble. Good food and a nice location next to Candie Park which is worth a free visit! We are likely to be back sometime!

It is not often that you find a hotel that ticks ALL the boxes for you, but I do believe we have just found 'The One'!
My husband and I wanted a short break to celebrate our 28th Wedding Anniversary and, never having been to Guernsey before, we thought we'd give it a try.
What a revelation this hotel is - beautifully decorated in a very quirky style, everything spotlessly clean, wonderful food and one of the best hotel' breakfast choices' we have ever seen.
But the thing that makes this hotel different is the attention to the little details that in themselves seem small, but taken together lift the service to another level eg bottles of water and mini-towels left out in Reception in case you are going for a run or a walk; bottles of sunscreen etc left by the pool in case you have left yours in your room, I could go on............. They even presented us with an anniversary cake - and it was gluten -free to meet my needs!! Now THAT was impressive!!
Finally, but probably most important, are the staff. To ALL the helpful, polite and respectful staff, but especially to Nika at Reception, Carina in the Restaurant and Chef Elder we offer our heartfelt thanks for making our stay so unforgettable.
Will we be going back? Most definitely 'YES', and the sooner the better!!!

My partner and I recently returned from a 2 night stay in the Penthouse Suite at this fabulous hotel. It was spotlessly clean and tidy with excellent decor and a very comfortable bed. The manager and staff quite clearly work well together as a very effective team whose priority is exceptional customer service. We were there as a competition prize. We were greeted by name on arrival and throughout our stay which was very impressive. We had breakfasts, a champagne afternoon tea and dinner in the hotel restaurant. There was an amazing selection on the menus and particular dietary requirements were catered for. It was our first visit to Guernsey and the staff's friendliness and attention to detail gave us an excellent first impression not only of the hotel but also of Guernsey. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and hope to return in the not too distant future. A very big thank you to Lukas and his professional team for making our stay so memorable.

I travelled with my family ( variously a 22 year old daughter , a 19 year old daughter and an 11 year old son and my wife ) this July for a family celebration. We were greeted as return guests having stayed there 6 days on each of our 3 visits to Guernsey 2007, 2012 and 2014. On each occasion the warmth of the staff and the level of service is consistently great. I read here of someone lamenting that there was only instant coffee in the room, ( a strange criteria for judgement ) to which I say, get out and take a coffee in one of the many cafes in St Peter Port At the Duke of Richmond the manner in which the staff relate to one another is reassuring. I can sense if the good manners are just for show and I have to say that all the staff from the front of house to the housemaids and waiters help create an ambience of genuine hospitality. Once you get beyond the decor in the lobby, you will find elegant suites that are heartwarming and as is said, long after you pay the price, you will have fond memories. When we travel from Australia we like style and comfort. You will find both here and in my experience, it is a place to which we love to return. The breakfast is very provident and worth taking time to enjoy as you plan your day. I am full of praise for the host of reasons here, which is totally deserved.

We just had a 2 night stay at this hotel and they were great. Travelling with 4 kids is never easy but all staff were very helpful and very accommodating. Special mention to Azam who assisted with the entire booking, a big thank you to Bianca for getting the chef to make us something special because kids (and their daddy) didn't want something off the menu. The chef was amazing and cooked up such a nice meal that we ended up eating in the restaurant a second night and not even bothering to go out. THe biggest mention to the front desk manager who spent over an hour with our kids cake decorating... really nice staff.. really nice hotel. Would recommend.

Just returned from a 5 day break in Guernsey. Stayed at this lovely hotel for the full time. Beautiful room, King Size bed, so comfy and luxurious. The staff are wonderful, friendly, efficient, always ready to help and just a great team that I feel sure the management are very proud of.

We ate breakfast there each day and it truly could not be faulted for choice, service and quality. We only had one evening meal at the hotel as we had family and friends to meet with other evenings. The night we ate there was my lovely husbands birthday and the meal was really, really good. Would I stay here again? Without a doubt!

Great service and quality all round, very little to fault except for the parking. There is no dedicated car park as such and we had to park on the street. The streets around the hotel are in a controlled zone and require a disk and only allow limited time. It's manageable however.

Highly recommend this hotel.

I can only say that our trip was made memorable by the stay at The Duke of Richmond hotel. The room was very comfortable, very clean, with all the things that make you feel looked after. The food was excellent, as were the staff. WE have traveled a lot, stayed in many average places, this island, this hotel is where we would wish for when we next take a break. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Upmarket boutique hotel with Victorian art deco them (focusing on her rule of Africa).
Notwithstanding, managed to feel like the staff were actually aware of my presence there, which is great when you're traveling alone on business.
Clean and well maintained but priced for its class, so should be expected.
Particularly appreciated the take away Lavazza coffee station for people checking out early and not able to have breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate a second visit.
