I booked the special three days for the price of two package for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We could not have chosen a better hotel, the staff are just so good and nothing is too much trouble. The food is outstanding, as mentioned by other reviewers and we ate here two out of our three nights; we were very impressed with both the quality and the value. I was able to order flowers for the room in advance and they were their on arrival. We were treated to a complimentary bottle of champagne with a lovely card from all the staff to mark our special day. I would guess you don't get that in many establishments. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I can see from other reviews that many other guests feel likewise. Many thanks to everyone at the hotel, you helped make our anniversary perfect.

Had a really good stay here again, consistently good, staff are very friendly and every inch of the hotel is oozing with luxury. You do pay for what you get and even if you don't stay here, I would highly recommend a visit to the Leopard bar for a spectacular cocktail created by the lovely Carmen. Try the apple tart cocktail, her invention, worthy of a try. Will most certainly return.

Super staff, super room, superb breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here. They even came out to rescue us when we got lost finding the hotel (in the dark with road diversions)

parking is difficult but the staff try and help.

During the summer I was very fortunate to be able to return to The Duke of Richmond. I was delighted to discover that my second visit was as equally delightful as my first! From the moment I arrived at the hotel the staff were extremely attentive and did all they could to ensure that I had a pleasant stay (which I certainly did!). My room was extremely comfortable with a lovely view down to the harbour. Even hurricane Bertha couldn't spoil my happy memories!

Just back from spending 4 nights in gorgeous superior room. It was our 44th wedding anniversary and we were not just given a complimentary glass of bubbly but then a whole bottle with their compliments. We love the island and we certainly love The Richmond. The staff are totally unintrusive and yet there for your every whim. Congratulations to you all on such a superbly run establishment. We cannot wait to come back. See you all very soon.

Unfortunately we could only stay for 2 nights but this is a lovely hotel with friendly and attentive staff.
We were upgraded on arrival to a super king room which was wonderful. Breakfast was very relaxed with good service, great selection and served in lovely surroundings.
Wish we could have stayed longer and hope to return.

My husband & I stayed for 6 nights in a Superior King Room (313). The staff were so helpful, freindly, polite but professional and nothing was too much trouble. On arrival we were taken to three rooms by the receptionist to choose which room we would like. Our room was large, very well furnished, the bed was so comfortable with soft feather pillows and a lovely duvet. The bathroom was excellent with hot water at all times and the white fluffy large towels so nice. We found our room was very quiet from inside and out. The whole of this hotel was absolutely spotless including the outside areas. Our breakfast was superb with so many choices and a good start to the day and we enjoyed a very nice evening meal in the conservatory also we had room service one evening and it was brought to the room very quickly, hot and enjoyable. Little touches like sweets to help yourself to and bottled water. I loved everything about this hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it. The only one thing is the position of the hotel is up hill all the way from town but you do get nice views from your room so you do have to be a bit fit but we loved it and walked back through Cande Gardens and like to think the excercise made up for all the excellent meals we experienced. Thank you all the staff for a wonderful time. The taxi fare from town is £5 but worth it in the evening if you have been out for a meal. The weather was fabulous and best way to see the island is the local bus which goes round the coast and only costs £1.

Just got back from a 2 night stay and wished we had booked another night or 2. First impressions count and this smart, clean boutique style hotel wowed us the moment we arrived. The staff were very welcoming and showed us around our excellent room; we were treated to a bottle of champagne as it was a birthday and silver wedding celebration weekend, which was a really nice touch. Whilst dining in the restaurant on the first evening my wife also received a complimentary dessert made up on a plate with a birthday greeting all hand piped in chocolate. The staff throughout our stay at reception, concierge, maids, and all the staff during breakfast and our evening meals were thoroughly professional and really nice to chat to. The food was wonderful, with the cooked breakfast all done to order so very fresh and beautifully cooked as well as a fine selection of continental buffet style breakfasts available. Deluxe afternoon tea on the patio in the the late summer sunshine was a perfect end to our stay. The hotel is located about 10 minutes from St Peters Port sea front and the very quaint old quarter, which is very convenient; it is mostly uphill to get back to the hotel but not too severe. Our luggage was safely stored whilst we went out to make the most of the day, before our taxi back to the airport. We will definitely return for a longer stay next time.

Visited as 2 couples, from arriving to leaving the staff at the hotel where extremely attentive and friendly...nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are nicely decorated and beds very comfy. The pool was a nice surprise being heated, fresh towels and sun cream if required. The weather was fabulous whilst we were there so we took advantage of the lovely terrace at the hotel for drinks....Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice but we didn't eat in the hotel although the food looked lovely. We spent the first day in St. Peter's port at the castle which is well worth a visit and day 2 got the ferry to Herm which was beautiful. Enjoyed lunch and a bottle of wine in the sun at the ship pub which is lovely upmarket pub. All in all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend and would definitely return to Guernsey and the Duke of Richmond.

We spent five nights at this hotel and took advantage of the four for five deal. The service was excellent. A warm welcome and lots of thoughtful extras (water at the entrance for runners, help yourself sweeties)
The room was well furnished and the bed very comfortable. No extractor fan in bathroom and the beautiful white fluffy towels need to be given a boil wash to fully freshen.
After the first day we enjoyed the variety of the delicious and varied food at breakfast . Our first cooked breakfast was not as ordered and had to be returned. Good choice of seating in the restaurant with an outdoor option, weather permitting.
We ate in the restaurant twice but were disappointed with the quality of the vegetables on both occasions and the steak was not as ordered.
The front of house made every effort to apologise and compensate for the mistakes of their colleagues in the kitchen but it was too late. There are much better places to eat in St Peter Port where the food is fresher, more varied and cheaper.
Wonderful swimming pool and even provided sunscreen.

Recently returned from a very pleasant four night stay at this hotel. Couldn't fault the room which was spacious and quiet with an extremely comfortable bed. What struck us most though was the friendliness of the staff and the excellent service. From the moment we arrived to the day we left, staff members were cheerful, helpful and attentive. We decided to eat in the restaurant on the first evening and found both the food and service to be exemplary. So much so, that we returned on the following three evenings! The breakfast experience was equally good. As indicated by other reviewers, due to its location above St Peter Port, the walks to and from the town take a little effort but overall we had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate choosing this hotel again on our next visit.

Had a four day stay at this hotel and took advantage of their "4 nights for 3" offer to stay in a superior/King room, which was quiet (at the end of a corridor, spacious and very comfortable.

Excellent level of service throughout and the breakfasts were simply amazing. We ate in the restaurant for two of the nights we stayed and enjoyed excellent dinners too.

As other reviewers have pointed out, the location won't suit everyone, as it is elevated above St Peter Port and could be a challenge for those walking to and from town. Also, we really had no option but to take taxis to and from the airport as the hotel is not near a bus route, slightly frustrating as bus travel is very cheap! On the other hand, the views are splendid and Candie Gardens (well worth a visit) is just round the corner.

The Duke of Richmond ticks the boxes for a few "extras" on service that you don't find at other 4-star places: for example, we were offered luggage storage, printing of boarding passes and a take away snack for the journey (among other things) on the day we left.

All in all, it was a lovely experience staying at this hotel and if we are able to return to Guernsey we know where we will choose to stay!

My wife and I stayed here for one night and had a fantastic stay. The hotel product itself is great, with comfortable beds and nice amenities and the service from start to finish, just excellent! Lovely outdoor heated pool too, as well as a very quirky bar and location-wise it is perfect as it's only 5 minutes walk from the sea front. We will definitely return!

Really nice place with great staff, good restaurant and comfortable beds.
Location might not suit anyone with trouble walking as it's on top of a hill - gives a great view into St Peter Port though.
Swimming Pool is a bit of a faff getting to using a spiral staircase but the water is kept beautifully warm, and plenty of fluffy towels. !
Difficult to give full justice to the décor but lets just say if the Lesley Joseph character from Birds Of A Feather was ever to interior design a hotel, this is what it would look like.
Curiously entertaining in it's own way though - we were always spotting something new to gawp at - full-size leopard figurines anyone ? Zebra patterned doorman's chair to your taste ? How about a mirror fronted (and topped and sided) bedside cabinet ?
Despite this we'd go again and would recommend it to anyone wanting a short break in Guernsey - just remember your sunglasses (for indoors)

Stayed in this wonderful hotel for two nights as part of a small group tour. Everything is first class from the rooms to the dining - so much service at breakfast is rather overawing but very pleasant.

Great weekend on Guernsey made by the lovely weather, but mainly by the service from all the staff in the hotel. Particular thank yous must go to Lukas and Olga.

Yes, the hotel only has 5 parking spaces but our car was moved twice on Sat night & Sunday morning by staff, after Lukas took charge.

Thoroughly enjoyed the pool area which is much larger than appears in photos.

Loved dining at breakfast & dinner, watching the theatre of the kitchen while being looked after by Olga.

Tonight we are cooking the Shrimp Stroganoff recipe from the RCH book.

In the future I will look out an RCH hotel if we can, depending on where we are staying.

This was our second visit and we came away relaxed and rested even though we only had 4 nights there. The hotel is lovely and all the staff are very friendly and helpful . The food is excellent and the restaurant staff are very attentive. On 2 nights there was a private party but the noise level was very low and did not disturb us .The management were thoughtful in advising guests about this and making sure guests were aware what time it would finish IWe are looking forward to our next visit.

Had a four day stay at this hotel whilst doing research on some family links. Blown away by the level of service, everyone so on the ball. Rooms are a little small but very comfortable with if your lucky as we were incredible views. Breakfast is a triumph and we'll recommended, dinner is of a high standard but slightly too minimal on some dishes. Overall I was surprised at the 4 star rating I assumed it was a five. Overall a smashing experience and will definitely stay again.

We decided to go to Guernsey for our first anniversary and chose the Duke of Richmond to stay based on the reviews and because we wanted to stay in St Peter Port. What a fantastic place just right for us as generally quiet. Breakfast on the terrace in the sunshine looking at the sea just lovely, could have been in the Mediterranean! The cooked breakfast was also delicious and very good quality.

The service from the staff is exemplary five star really like the nearby OGH to which the chain also runs. Nothing really to fault, the room was spacious, beds the most comfortable ever with sumptuous bedding and very clean. Air con great and good bathroom.

Thanks to Lukas for the complimentary upgrade to the Penthouse suite and for arranging the special touches on the day of our anniversary. Lovely and unexpected.

We loved the Duke of Richmond and would highly recommend it for any length of stay. Simply great! Thank you.

First time in Guernsey so didn t know what to expect. Spent 2 nights at the Duke of Richmond partial business/pleasure trip.

Well impressed by the level of service of the hotel staff who went out of their way to make our stay out of the ordinary. Perhaps they could give tuition to certain European based 5 star hotels? If staying at the hotel, have a look in the restaurant for what can only be described as the perfect Heath Robinson ceiling ventilator, straight from a HG Wells/Jules Verne novel. Must get one similar for home.

Excellent breakfast and good evening meal at the hotel.

Well done.

We recently returned from a 3 night stay where we celebrated our wedding anniversary....The hotel is decorated in a refreshingly unique style combining comfort, elegance and thought provoking design...The staff were wonderfully attentive and upon arrival in our beautifully appointed suite we were presented with a bouquet of flowers...We went to the bar for cocktails and were greeted by name and wished a happy anniversary ..a menu was brought to us and we were escorted to the lovely Leopard Restaurant, treated to glasses of champagne and enjoyed an excellent dinner which included a sumptuous cheesecake surrounded by anniversary greetings in chocolate...This level of service continued throughout our stay and contributed greatly to making Guernsey one of our top holiday experiences and when we next visit we would not consider staying anywhere other than at The Duke of Richmond Hotel.

Returned on 29th August. Absolutely gorgeous, with the nicest staff I have ever had to pleasure to meet. Nothing was too much trouble by staff who always seem to know our names. The Duke of Richmond in Guernsey was definitely the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at. Beautiful bedrooms and room 315 is beautiful and spacious. Definitely better than most 5 star hotels in Britain. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot wait to return. It's a long time since I felt this way about a hotel, Standards are slipping but NOT at the Duke of Richmond. Absolutely wonderful. Caroline and Tom

Took a five day break here with family in early September. This hotel is recently refurbished and level of decor and condition of the facilities is superb. Staff very friendly and helpful. Effective and efficient establishment which does what it says on the packet. Thoroughly recommend by me.

Recently had the pleasure of 3 nights at the DOR. The staff were very helpful and the added extras really made the stay special. Having stayed at a sister red carnation hotel in London last year, our expectations were high but we were not disappointed! The only niggle was a mix up with the airport transfer they had offered to arrange, however this was rectified quickly and appropriately. Strong thanks to Carina and her waiters as well as the girls at reception for your outstanding service!

I wanted to write a review as we are locals who visit the Duke of Richmond regularly. We often pop in for a relaxed lunch, an afternoon glass of wine, Saturday or sunday lunch or whatever takes our fancy and we are always greeted with warmth and kindness at every visit. We are spoilt in Guernsey for our restaurants and bars and I often think our hotels are overlooked as places you can dine in or just pop in for a drink in luxurious surroundings We love the DOR so much we even spent a fabulous New Years Eve there last year stayed the night with our children as well. I am thrilled to see they are offering last minute deals that will suit us locals and know that if we had some notice my husband and I would ask the grandparents to have the children overnight so we could enjoy spending a romantic night away without the hassle of flights! The food is great, the staff without exception have been nothing but friendly and gracious and when we have bought the children with us they have been treated as friends not a nuisance very much the European way and of course part of the red carnation groups philosophy on the children being as important as the adults. After all they are the future generation of Red Carnation guests. If you are non local and thinking of staying you couldn't find a better place. Based on the outskirts of town (just a short stroll from town) with the added benefit of right next door to the park there is no need for a car and kids can run around in the park. Would thoroughly recommend the place. Thanks to Lukas, Orlando, Olga the list of all our friends there (now we have been there so often) is too big to mention. Just as an after thought, our son broke his leg in the spring and was in a wheelchair and the staff carried him to the table signed his cast and made him feel like a king, where previously he had felt embarrassed by his situation. Really nothing is too much trouble for this hotel so whatever your situation give them a go I don't think you will be disappointed. Thanks and see you all soon. Jo, Tim, Edward, Henry and Monty
