As this was our third trip to Jersey, wanted to try somewhere new and found this place with some great reviews. We were staying in St Helier and make good use of the Liberty Bus service so booked in for dinner.
The food was delicious with great choices on both the a la carte and specials. Hubby started with roly poly and custard which was actually bacon with chilli jam and hollandaise. The plate was cleared. I had southern fried scallops of the specials menu and boy were they special. The perfect blend of spice with the sweetness of the scallops.
Mains were monkfish with Bombay potatoes and curried cauliflower - again a wondrous combination of fish and spice. The other was sea bream and lobster tempura with jersey potatoes and another triumph of delicate flavours.
Followed the local jersey potatoes with local strawberries and smoked meringue as intrigued by description and the smoky flavour matched perfectly with the sweet ripe berries. This normally comes with basil chantilly cream but I’m not a fan of basil so this was replaced with home made vanilla ice cream which worked beautifully with the other flavours.
A nice choice of wine by the glass was appreciated too as hubby is a beer drinker.
Service was efficient and friendly and the restaurant was busy with groups of various sizes. So if you’re heading to Jersey, get on the phone and book and check out the bus times of the number 1 bus to Gorey for the best of Jersey produce.

Absolutely stunning.

Comfortable and relaxed environment but with a very fine dining experience.
Food was absolutely incredible, staff were very friendly and just attentive enough without being overbearing.

The menu was full of creative flavour combinations but everything we ordered was delicious.
I had the duck main and it was easily the best I have ever had, followed by the cheesecake desert which was perfectly balanced and a lovely way to end the experience.

5/5 without a shadow of a doubt.

Excellent 3 course set lunch menu, £25 a head including foraged local food most imaginative use of ingredients. Staff were also first class, really couldn't fault anything. Bathroom also immaculately cleaned, impressed with the overall psckage. Will be very happy to return.

We visited the Bass and Lobster on 22nd June 2021. What a lovely welcome we received from the wife of the chef. She was enthusiastic about the food and very caring. The menu is extensive and mostly fresh Jersey produce, including hand dived scallops and line caught fish.
We chose the set menu of 3 courses, which also included home made bread, their special flavoured olive oil dip, beetroot humous and the most enormous olives I have seen. All extra than the 3 courses. At the end of our meal we had coffee and tea, plus home made chocolates, also included.
An excellent meal and a very pleasurable experience. I will certainly be going again.

Post lockdown we were able to visit our family on Jersey. The first evening on the island was spent in the Bass and Lobster. After so little dining out it turned out to be an excellent experience.
Lively, informal, busy. Laughter, glasses and cutlery clinking. The sounds of fun.But this place isn't just about fun. Our food was very good indeed. No fine dining pretensions - simply good produce, well prepared and presented with style.
Starters were temptingly tasty I chose ham hock terrine with three types of piquant mustard, my wife went with oysters. Playing safe I followed with fish and chips. The fish was plaice and came with a surprise trio of tartare sauce, curry sauce and mushy peas. Delicious and extremely filling. You won't regret an evening spent in this successful restaurant.

The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left, we were greeted by name, without having to introduce ourselves and they checked which of us had special dietary needs instantly. A definite 10/10
The food was absolutely superbly presented and was mouth-wateringly delicious. Prompt and courteous throughout.
Well done everyone

Going to start with the front of house staff, very welcoming and Kirsty is so lovely. The food talks for itself it’s amazing. We’ve eaten all over the world and this little restaurant in Gorey is one of the best . Take a look at the menu it’s the best . Your missing out if you don’t try while you’re in Jersey.

Outstanding service and quality of food. Imaginative and exciting flavours! The scallops with chorizo from the specials menu was excellent, beautifully cooked with a wonderful background heat. It was almost impossible to choose a main course, but I chose the monkfish with Bombay potatoes... incredible! I decided to try the Thai red curry ice cream which was amazing!!! The portions are not skimpy either and even the top end of the price range represents great value.
A must visit restaurant and a great eating experience!

My fiancé and I booked a table on Friday evening. The restaurant was busy but we were welcomed and seated promptly. The à la carte menu choices all sound wonderful and they also have a specials menu! After ordering we were served some lovely homemade focaccia, with accompanying hummus and olives, the garlic infused dipping sauce was also sensational. For starters we chose the octopus and scallops dishes both perfectly cooked and tasty. Mains were the Bass with lobster tempura and the fillet steak with lobster tempura. The steak was one of the best I have had in Jersey. Finally to finish we shared some sorbet (large selection of different flavours to choose from) All in all this was our first visit here but its now a firm favourite. Can’t wait to eat here again!

Still on the tail end of Covid reg's. Very welcoming friendly staff. We all had a great experience and food was of a high standard. Menu was short but still catered for everyone and no doubt allows the team to perfect their art. Monkfish really nice and Bass was a hit. Desserts were very nice. We will be returning.......if we can get a booking 😁.

Expect a very warm welcome when visiting the restaurant. The restaurant is proud to use local products and advertise the source of their foods. Of particular note on our visit, was the monk-fish which was extremely tender and also my partner's fish and chips which he pronounced to be the best he had ever had, with crispy light batter. The restaurant provides delicious homemade bread with various accompaniments whilst you are waiting for your meal. Highly recommended.

Yes, we liked this place. Kirsti (front of house) and Dave (chef) have something really good going here. Great local suppliers (who they laud on page 1 of the menu), a good spot on the seafront in Gorey, and lots of local regulars. But all of that is because the food is sensational. We had a roly-poly suet savoury, and local crab to start, a succulent steak and mackerel for mains and leaning cheesecake and homemade ice creams for dessert. All beautifully presented with fabulous sauces and decorative touches. Kirsti made a big effort to make us feel at home and even explained the menu and her favourites. They even sell their own oils and jams.

The Bass and Lobster exceeds itself in every way. The food was superb on both presentation and taste. The front of house team, despite Covid restrictions delivered 5 star service.
On our first night OUT OUT, we couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant on the island. Michelin Star food and service in a relaxed setting.
Bass and Lobster, take a bow!

Fantastic flavour lead food that is only accentuated by its portion size. Kirsty really looked after us and there is also a local larder to purchase homemade goods. A perfect evening that's a little bit more special than your average Friday night out.
