We recently visited Jersey and had booked Bass & Lobster sometime in advance. We had to give it 5* and write a review! The menu was amazing and pretty much everything from the bread to the ice creams and sorbets were homemade. The layers and complexity of flavour combinations across all the courses we had were so tasty. We had scallops, Fukha goats cheese, monkfish, mackerel & plaice (catches of the day), smoked pavlova, ghost chilli and cucumber sorbet… The only problem was that we couldn’t try more of the available dishes on the menu. The menu, food and perfectly attentive staff means we will be back as soon as we are able..Fabulous..

We had a great evening there on Wednesday! Absolutely fabulous food, great service and superb ambiance in this hip, yet not pretentious restaurant. The kids (14, 11 and 8) all found multiple items to their liking (and that was just on the starter menu!). The food was of the outmost quality... And the waiting staff was highly attentive, convivial and really warm...

The restaurant was busy, almost frantic. There were several things unavailable, some disappearing even as we viewed the menu. I was surprised to discover the hand dived scallop starter was cold. I seemed they were just trying too hard with some of the dishes. The food was ok but not special. Not on a par with other restaurants we visited during our stay in Jersey.

We hadn't been to the Bass & Lobster for a while but my goodness me it was good last night ! There were 4 of us and the food - starters, mains & desserts were quite simply fantastic. I have travelled the world extensively and eaten in many fine restaurants but the food here, on our doorstep in Grouville, was the best I can recall having anywhere. Congratulations to Kirstie and the team there - and we won't leave it so long until next time !

Started with a fantastic warm personal greeting, the hostess and staff remained friendly, helpful and highly knowledgeable throughout, even making a special mocktail for my 10 year old son. The food was simply out of this world, complete flavour explosion. The goats cheese and crab starters in particular were sublime. Every course superb ending with an array of incredible homemade ice creams and sorbets, so hard to choose but all the flavours we tried were delectable. The best meal we’ve had in a long time and excellent value for money. I’d recommend booking as this restaurant is not to be missed.

We stayed in Gorey recently and enjoyed the Bass and Lobster so much we returned a further 3 times during the course of our 7 night stay!
We always received a really warm welcome from Kirstie and Fran along with excellent service. The restaurant it's self has a lovely atmosphere, and you can opt to dine inside or out.
The food here is stunning - very inventive and made using high quality local produce, which Kirstie and Dave are very proud of (and rightly so!).
We tried so many beautiful dishes, including tempura oysters, octopus, duck, red mullet, scallops and various different wonderful flavours of Ice creams. All were cooked to perfection, seasoned and balanced beautifully.

An absolutely wonderful lunch, great food, well presented and complimented by a friendly yet professional front of house.
We were allowed to take our time and were well advised on choosing some original options on the menu.
Attention to detail would get them a sixth star if it was available.

Incredibly attentive staff, and wildly accommodating of dietary restrictions. We had vegetarian and gluten free requirements which were met with delicious substitutions. Food is creative, fun, intricate but each dish is well portioned and phenomenal value for money. You shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit!

Once again this place has come up with the goods.
From being greeted like old friends to being “ treated” to home made ice cream ( and I don’t do sweets) everything this lunchtime was right on point.
Kirsty, Dave, and Fran were great hosts, and every course was special. Not using that word lightly as the amuse bouche did just that! And the sweetbreads for starter need a review all of their own. Sublime. The local lamb was nothing short of the best lamb probably served on the island today! This husband and wife team deserve all the accolades that come their way as they know how to produce and serve hospitality at its best. Great food and great team. See you again soon.Miles and Sharon. We visited on a Saturday night to a lovely friendly welcome, the staff could not be more accommodating and friendly. We had been looking forward to going especially since we never got the opportunity on our last visit to Jersey. Sometimes when you’ve waited so long and bigged something up it’s never quite how you expected - well not on this occasion it was better🥰 the food is beautifully served and every mouthful a delight. Thank you to you all for a memorable evening.

As this was our third trip to Jersey, wanted to try somewhere new and found this place with some great reviews. We were staying in St Helier and make good use of the Liberty Bus service so booked in for dinner.
The food was delicious with great choices on both the a la carte and specials. Hubby started with roly poly and custard which was actually bacon with chilli jam and hollandaise. The plate was cleared. I had southern fried scallops of the specials menu and boy were they special. The perfect blend of spice with the sweetness of the scallops.
Mains were monkfish with Bombay potatoes and curried cauliflower - again a wondrous combination of fish and spice. The other was sea bream and lobster tempura with jersey potatoes and another triumph of delicate flavours.
Followed the local jersey potatoes with local strawberries and smoked meringue as intrigued by description and the smoky flavour matched perfectly with the sweet ripe berries. This normally comes with basil chantilly cream but I’m not a fan of basil so this was replaced with home made vanilla ice cream which worked beautifully with the other flavours.
A nice choice of wine by the glass was appreciated too as hubby is a beer drinker.
Service was efficient and friendly and the restaurant was busy with groups of various sizes. So if you’re heading to Jersey, get on the phone and book and check out the bus times of the number 1 bus to Gorey for the best of Jersey produce.

Absolutely stunning.

Comfortable and relaxed environment but with a very fine dining experience.
Food was absolutely incredible, staff were very friendly and just attentive enough without being overbearing.

The menu was full of creative flavour combinations but everything we ordered was delicious.
I had the duck main and it was easily the best I have ever had, followed by the cheesecake desert which was perfectly balanced and a lovely way to end the experience.

5/5 without a shadow of a doubt.

We visited the Bass and Lobster on 22nd June 2021. What a lovely welcome we received from the wife of the chef. She was enthusiastic about the food and very caring. The menu is extensive and mostly fresh Jersey produce, including hand dived scallops and line caught fish.
We chose the set menu of 3 courses, which also included home made bread, their special flavoured olive oil dip, beetroot humous and the most enormous olives I have seen. All extra than the 3 courses. At the end of our meal we had coffee and tea, plus home made chocolates, also included.
An excellent meal and a very pleasurable experience. I will certainly be going again.

Post lockdown we were able to visit our family on Jersey. The first evening on the island was spent in the Bass and Lobster. After so little dining out it turned out to be an excellent experience.
Lively, informal, busy. Laughter, glasses and cutlery clinking. The sounds of fun.But this place isn't just about fun. Our food was very good indeed. No fine dining pretensions - simply good produce, well prepared and presented with style.
Starters were temptingly tasty I chose ham hock terrine with three types of piquant mustard, my wife went with oysters. Playing safe I followed with fish and chips. The fish was plaice and came with a surprise trio of tartare sauce, curry sauce and mushy peas. Delicious and extremely filling. You won't regret an evening spent in this successful restaurant.

The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left, we were greeted by name, without having to introduce ourselves and they checked which of us had special dietary needs instantly. A definite 10/10
The food was absolutely superbly presented and was mouth-wateringly delicious. Prompt and courteous throughout.
Well done everyone

Going to start with the front of house staff, very welcoming and Kirsty is so lovely. The food talks for itself it’s amazing. We’ve eaten all over the world and this little restaurant in Gorey is one of the best . Take a look at the menu it’s the best . Your missing out if you don’t try while you’re in Jersey.

Outstanding service and quality of food. Imaginative and exciting flavours! The scallops with chorizo from the specials menu was excellent, beautifully cooked with a wonderful background heat. It was almost impossible to choose a main course, but I chose the monkfish with Bombay potatoes... incredible! I decided to try the Thai red curry ice cream which was amazing!!! The portions are not skimpy either and even the top end of the price range represents great value.
A must visit restaurant and a great eating experience!

My fiancé and I booked a table on Friday evening. The restaurant was busy but we were welcomed and seated promptly. The à la carte menu choices all sound wonderful and they also have a specials menu! After ordering we were served some lovely homemade focaccia, with accompanying hummus and olives, the garlic infused dipping sauce was also sensational. For starters we chose the octopus and scallops dishes both perfectly cooked and tasty. Mains were the Bass with lobster tempura and the fillet steak with lobster tempura. The steak was one of the best I have had in Jersey. Finally to finish we shared some sorbet (large selection of different flavours to choose from) All in all this was our first visit here but its now a firm favourite. Can’t wait to eat here again!

Still on the tail end of Covid reg's. Very welcoming friendly staff. We all had a great experience and food was of a high standard. Menu was short but still catered for everyone and no doubt allows the team to perfect their art. Monkfish really nice and Bass was a hit. Desserts were very nice. We will be returning.......if we can get a booking 😁.
