We visited The Bass and Lobster back in November 2018. It was our first visit having managed to miss it on all our previous visits to Jersey and it quickly shot up an esteemed list to become our favourite restaurant on the island and was the only choice to celebrate our 5th anniversary this year. We were given the customary warm welcome by the superb staff and seated in a nice spot at the rear of the restaurant.
We had a browse through the extensive menus...there was a set menu, an a la carte and a seafood special menu so a huge amount of choice from which to select from.
My wife decided to work from the set menu whilst I went from the a la carte. She kicked off with the 'Happy Hens Egg' starter, one of the most popular dishes at the restaurant and she described it as one of the best starters she's ever had - it looked great in it's understated simplicity and tasted even better. I opted for the pan fried foie gras and it was also superb - a great start to the meal.
The follow up however was even better. Avril selected the fish and chips - a huge portion of locally caught cod with truffle chips and she couldn't have been happier with it...the mushy pea puree was a particular hit. My main could go down as the best main I've eaten - the trio of lamb. It was just complete perfection to the point where I was severely tempted to order another one for dessert.
Having resisted that urge, I plumped for the days dessert special which was a white chocolate, raspberry and pistachio brioche bread pudding with one of the restaurants signature extravagant ice creams - in this case tarragon. It was a fabulous end to the meal and Avril was equally delighted with her lemon crème brulee - complete with a beautiful 'Happy 5th Anniversary' chocolate piping, a wonderful and hugely appreciated touch that sums up the warm and friendly approach of everybody involved in the restaurant.
Aside from the fantastic food though the thing that I adore most about The Bass & Lobster is the overall vibe. It feels like a place where everybody involved has a genuine love and passion for what they are doing and there is a strong cohesion between the kitchen and the front of house...it feels laid back and playful but without compromising on providing the very best quality. The chefs are given total freedom to cut loose and have fun and innovate with their dishes (are next visit simply has to take in one of their famous cook offs) and the front of house staff really understand the menu and the ethos of the place.
We had planned on this being our only Jersey visit this year. Thanks to The Bass & Lobster however, I'm almost certain we'll be back in time for Tennerfest. Thanks again for everything.

My mum had been following the Facebook page a while before our holiday to Jersey and had suggested we visit. We certainly were not disappointed, the restaurant itself has an ideal location, it is friendly and informal which is great, and the staff / owners really make you feel at ease and enjoy a good bit of humour with their guests. 2 of our party opted for the oysters to start, and they were superb! 2 of the party opted for the fish cake starter ( I said how boring) however I was proved wrong as they were amazing and far from boring. The mains were delicious, from the NOT boring fish and chips, steaks and the catch of the day which on the day we visited was bream! All gorgeous! When it came to desert.....well we were spoilt for choice! The array of ice creams and sorbets are fabulous! I opted for a popular flavour of ice cream but it was presented and tasted beautiful! They say Jersey is the gem of the sea, this restaurant is certainly a gem of Jersey! I would highly recommend to anyone visiting this amazing island, my only regret is we are not here long enough to revisit but we sure will be back when next here....a fresh, innovative and very tasty menu! With fabulous service to match!

I enjoyed another lovely meal with friends at The Bass and Lobster. I was particularly impressed by the knowledgeable and friendly staff as I my food has to be gluten free.

We had dinner with friends at the Bass & Lobster and loved the experience.
Kirstie, the manager together with her staff made us welcome from the start which together with the restaurants decor, lay out, & superb mouth watering menus created a fun ambiance.
We all ordered the dinner set menu (£19.50 for 2 dishes or £25 for 3, lunch £15 & £19.50 respectively) and were all delighted by our choices which were beautifully presented & delicious. The 30+ ice team & sorbet choice justifies a page in the menu on its own with plenty of options for the adventurous!
A great night out.
Highly recommended.

Where to start .... A Gem of a place...fantastic front of house staff, welcomming, charming and so knowledgeable on wines, and food pairings, great menu, love the competition menu between the Chefs, and Head Chef is so talented, he is up their with the greatest Chefs. Never had a bad experience here at all. This whole team works so well together, they are the Gem of Gorey. Had doubts to post my review because if word gets out, of this fantastic restaurant, I might not be able to get booked in!

We loved this place. Nice atmosphere, super friendly and efficient staff and excellent food. We liked that they offered some slightly different options. From their dessert menu, we chose from the 30 different ice creams they have on offer - we chose a scoop of black butter and a scoop of sea radish. Worth having a try of any of the huge choice! Only down side is that we live on mainland UK so this had to sadly be a one-off visit! Can highly recommend.

We had a fantastic evening at the Bass & Lobster restaurant. Both staff and food were absolutely brilliant. The food we had was both delicious and very interesting (I wanted to try everything on the menu) and staff super helpful and accommodating. They really went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience, which we definitely did. We will be back, no doubt!

After visiting jersey last year, we headed back for a weekend, just my partner and I. We discovered this gem after hearing some great things & WOW were they right!
Everything was perfect right down to the last detail, so much so we ate there 3 times during our stay! I was determined to make my way through their ice cream board 😂 (check it out, it’s insane!) I managed 12 flavours though!
The front of house, Kirsty was so incredibly nice and welcoming, she guided my usually quite “plain” eating partner into trying the tempura oysters to which she LOVED, on our second visit she remembered our names and made us feel very special.
Must try: the lobster tail, duck leg confit and of course the ice creams! 💖
Can’t wait to visit again soon, thanks for making our holiday magical!

Great service, happy and attentive staff...but the reason to go here is the sea food. Fantastic. Give it a go, you’re more than likely to be delighted.

Revisited this restaurant for lunch and wondered why we'd left it so long! Very warm welcome - excellent Table d'Hote at a very reasonable price. Jersey Royals and Nettle soup original and tasty. Mushroom tagliatelle best I've ever had and the Stilton ice cream HAS to be sampled.

It may be nine months since our last visit to this under-rated brasserie style restaurant bur Kirstie and Anna give you such a warm welcome, it might only have been yesterday!
There are a la carte and table d'hote menus to give a wide choice of fish and meat dishes and the chances are you will not be disappointed. We took starters and main courses from the very reasonably priced table d'hote menu which were so satisfying we had to abandon puddings!
The beverages are also very pleasing with a most acceptable choice of wines together with draught lager should you wish.
Well done everyone. We had a wonderful dinner and we will not leave it so long until next time

We were warmly welcomed and well looked after. The food was lovely. I chose two starters in order to leave room for dessert. Just as well as the tempura oysters sitting on a little bed of Asian slaw were delicious but generous in quantity. For my next course I had the scallops with pea puree, broccoli and walnut - nicely presented and again delicious. My husband had fish cake and fish and chips. I couldn't help taking some of his chips they were yummy! There was an amazing choice of ice creams but I'm afraid we chose the brownie and creme brûlée as we know what we like although we did have a taster of the oyster ice cream!

I always take visiting family and friends here for great food and to sample Jersey’s local ingredients. I love that the menu changes per season (they do keep the favourites but they manage to add a twist!). The prawn tempura is my absolute favourite (very light and crispy batter each time). Don’t leave without checking the ice cream/dessert menu to find surprisingly good concoctions! The staff are very friendly and approachable too!

This place had been recommended before we went so was booked a week or so out and I am glad we did as it was full. Staff really interacted especially with the menu. The food was super gorgeous with contrasting flavours and washed down with an amazing Fleurie or two

We were quickly shown to a table and a high chair was provided for the smallest of us.
There is a children’s menu.
We understood that this is a seafood restaurant so we were surprised and disappointed that there was so little seafood on the menu. We did find fish that we thought we would like, so I suppose that makes the choice adequate.
The children chose from their menu. They are at an age where they often eat adult meals but none appealed to them.
When the food arrived the adults thought it was ok but not special. The children left theirs. I had little tasters and sympathise. The chef had put effort into tailoring special dishes where bog standard would probably have been more appropriate.
The children has dessert. Most of the unusual (read weird) ice cream choices are distinctly adult but they found some that looked normal. They weren’t.
My verdict is that adults could have a great meal here but don’t bring children.

I'm utterly shocked to see any poor reviews of the Bass & Lobster - the lunch I had there was one of the finest i've ever had. My wife and I were truly bowled-over by the experience at this place. The service was impeccable, as too was the attention to detail. Nice hand-illustrated recipes adorn the walls, beside the well-stocked bar. The food was absolutely faultless - the flavour combinations and thought that has gone into the menu is astounding. The ice-cream flavours are like something out of a Roald Dahl novel. I would highly recommend the Lamb burger if you aren't in the mood for seafood, and a side of the parmesan/truffle chips regardless of your situation. You'd think that all this would come with a hefty price-tag, but, alas, you could easily spend more in Wagamama's - it's around 20-30/head. We went back for a second visit a couple of days later and this only confirmed our first impressions. In conclusion, we would class the Bass & Lobster as the jewel in the crown of Jersey and a most-underrated establishment. Miss it at your peril...!

Pre booked via the website, a couple of days before our visit to jersey. Tight on time. They recommended contacting them if any delay. Despite heavy winds, numerous ferries cancelled, we had a prompt short flight on time.
So arrived at the restaurant, spot on 8pm, as per our booking.
Enthusiastically met by Kirsty, who’d even checked the flight arrival.
First impression, very tasty decor & well laid out.
Kirsty was lovely. Chatty, caring, explained all the menus etc.
We opted for the special price set Menu of £15 per person for a 3 course meal
Rather than detail the food, look on their website.
It was simply fantastic, every course, we both had different meals, starters, mains and deserts were incredibly well presented! mouth watering tasty ! And a thorough delight from the first mouthful to the last
All nicely washed down with a very nice Pinot, again well priced at just £15
Great interaction with Kirsty, the manager, and her polish gent waiter.
We met Kirsty,s husband the Chef from Wales, on the way out & thanked him for such a beautiful experience.
It goes to show, that you do not have to pay large some for top quality food
We will be back, possibly again in our short stay, if not, definitely visiting the island next year and we will head straight to The Bass & Lobster
Well done to all the team
A delightful experience

We spent a most enjoyable evening at the Bass and Lobster, which is well served by the bus from St Helier meaning we could all have some of their delicious sauvignon blanc! We all choose different fish dishes for starters and mains and none of us were disappointed. They also offer plenty of meat options for non fish eaters so its the perfect location to cater for different people's preferences. The staff were all very friendly and the service efficient. The restaurant has a wonderful feel to it and will definitely be on our list to revisit when we next go to Jersey.
