On a trip to Jersey we were pointed in the direction of this wonderful culinary experience.
We ate from the set menu with an open mind as to the quality of the food. We order ed, whilst waiting for our starters the home made bread arrived with two different types of local butter. Mouth watering would not describe what a delight this was light in texture very tasty on the palette.
Our starters arrived Fish Cake pour moi and Lobster & Crap Bisque for my girlfriend. Quality quality quality. Mains arrived Sea Bass On Jersey Royal Salad. I had locally sourced Cod with Hand Cooked Chips Tartar Sauce and Pea Puree. WOW.
Starting to feel very very full we shared the Brioche Bread and Butter Pudding expecting it to be a little heavy it was surprisingly light tasty and complimented our meal.
This venue has a great atmosphere very very attentive and knowledgable staff who praise the local ingredients used in their food. Some of which came from the restaurants garden.
We have one day left of our trip and will be returning for lunch which is even better value than the evening meal we had.
This is a must visit and for quality and value for money unbeatable.

We called on the off chance after visiting Mont Orgueil and wished we’d found this fabulous place before our last day on hols. We opted for the £15 3 course lunch special and couldn’t believe the choices. Expecting small portions for that price we couldn’t have been more wrong. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious and full size. The fish and chips were particularly good and the home made ice cream was outstanding. The service was attentive and courteous. We couldn’t recommend this place more highly.

A very buy restaurant which usually means that the food should be good but not always..
Starters were ok with the exception of the Foie Gras which had the life cooked out of it never had rubbery Foie Gras before...Main courses were again just ok but with the exception of the Turbot which was so small and on top of cold mash potatoes not up to much..Expensive for what was a medicore meal.

Having read excellent reviews on TA decided to try the 3 course £15 lunch for ourselves. Fabulous. All beautifully presented and delicious. Just for the record we both had the beetroot, feta and quinoa salad, catch of the day with samphire, salsa and Jersey royal salad, then bread and butter pudding with apricot ice cream. To include the divine homemade bread was an added bonus. Fortunately we live nearby so this will become a regular haunt. Why can't more restaurants be like this? They deserve to be mobbed every day!

Personally I did not like the modern style of this open bar/restaurant but it was busy so the ambience was buzzy, and somewhat raucous with a large group of somewhat inebriated lady golfers. The service was friendly, the menu covered all bases (pity that they ran out of the brill main) and the wine list reasonable. The food was a bit mixed but overall good. I particularly liked my whitebait starter, very different from the normal. This is almost a good restaurant and certainly one of the better ones in Gorey (see my review of Sumas).

Recommended by a local shopkeeper, in Goray, so we thought we would give it a go.
We arrived early with no reservation to see if they had a free table. We were greeted by Anna who gave us a very warm welcome it quickly became clear to us that the food here is extraordinary. The wonderful flavours and attention to detail are an absolute delight, produced and presented by people with a passion for what they do.There is no pretension here, these people are genuinely nice and work very hard to give the best experience to every customer. We were so impressed that we returned for the remaining two nights of our holiday. Many thanks to Anna and Gatis and the three brilliant chefs. We would not hesitate to recommend.

When searching for a restaurant to sample some quality seafood, this restaurant came up. As it was liberation day (9th May) and the last evening of our mini break, we booked a table at the Bass & Lobster. On arrival we received a very warm welcome by Anna who showed us to our table. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the tables were well spaced. Dill flavoured bread arrived whilst we perused the menu. The crab to start was amazing, as were the Tempura prawns and squid. But the Scallops were simply divine. Bread and Butter pudding with Apricot ice cream to finish is a must! A great restaurant with a great team. Thank You, we will be back. Michelle & Chris, St Neots, Cambridge. 👍😁

We found the Bass and Lobster by accident on the first night of our 4 night stay..wow, talk about happy accidents! We were amazed that the price was so reasonable considering the quality and the ethos of using fresh and local ingredients. We were looked after and warmly welcomed by Anna and ordered from the set menu on the first night ( Thursday) 2 courses for under £20.00, we shared a starter, had a main each and shared the sweet. After ordering fresh home made daily bread and butter arrived at our table and after one taste I knew this would be very special indeed. I cant ever remember having such a wonderful, tasty and fresh meal, every element was careful considered and made completely from scratch..including the lemon mayonaise and salsa verde on the fishcake starter - delish!! I had the lamb and new Jersey pots and hubby had the fish and chips - Wow! My husband was also blown away and we couldnt help but taste and try all the elements of each others dishes. Bread and butter pudding and home made apricot ice cream to finish..and my mouth is watering thinking about it!!
I woke up the next morning and was thinking about what I could choose off the menu that night. We turned up that night without booking and looking less than glamorous after a tough day walking on the North coast and Anna found us a table and greeted us like old friends. That night we both had to try the 'Stinky bay burger' again attention to details rules with the quality meat, home made bacon jam and own smoked cheese, We had the whitebait and pea and wild garlic soup as starters. But no room for dessert! Again a wonderful meal, lovely atmosphere and such lovely staff. We loved watching the chefs from our table, they looked so passionate and diligent
On our next night - Saturday, we booked a table as there was no way we were missing out! We looked forward to the meal all day after a good days walking and touring the Island. We didnt eat all day...there was no way I was missing out on dessert! Again another amazing night, outstanding food, and atmosphere...and the dessert, Chocolate, salted caramel, bitter orange tart with wild garlic ice cream...it should work..but my god it does!
Thanks so much to Anna and the team for wonderful food, taste experiences and lovely holiday memories, we will see you again..we are checking out the flights!

During our visit to Jersey we bumped into a guy who is a scallop diver and supplies the local area with fresh scallops. He recommended this restaurant to us for their fresh sea food. We couldn't turn down a story like that and so we booked a table. Of course we ordered the scallops, which were not a disappointment. The whole meal was excellent, including flavors and recipes you certainly don't get in our local restaurants back home. The wife ordered a burnt dark chocolate desert with garlic ice cream. Not something I would attempt to cook at home, but it was real winner. The ambiance in the restaurant is very chilled and light, the staff equally chilled and light. We ordered a starter and desert each (strange I know), plus wine. The bill came to about £25 each, a bargain for the quality of the evening.

Absolutely blown away our experience at The Bass and Lobster on Friday night.
We've been a few times before which have been nice, but Anna has elevated the menu and service to a new level.
THIS is what restaurants should be like in Jersey. The menu and ambience are absolutely spot on and something I haven't experienced on our island for quite a while.
You have to try the Pink Peppercorn Gin for an aperitif. You can thank me later...
To eat, we shared the tempura prawns and calamari to start which were superb. I defy anyone to make tempura batter that light and crispy whilst cooking the seafood that well.
I followed with the tuna, which again was cooked to perfection.
Not one normally for dessert, but when you're offered a coconut panna cotta, there's aways room.
Anna is an absolute delight and deserves massive success. Long may this continue as it's now our go-to local restaurant.

A last minute decision to pop into the Bass and Lobster for dinner on a Friday night after checking the reviews on trip advisor, luckily they had an early table for 2. Can't even remember the last time we had been to this restaurant and now we are asking ourselves why! We had a delicious meal, starting with the pink peppercorn gin, (to die for), followed by tempura squid & prawns in the lightest batter I have ever had, we both had fish for a main which was superb, and shared a coconut panacotta, we were both in heaven. The service was excellent, the atmosphere casual and friendly. Thank you Anna and the team we be back very soon.

I have not reviewed this restuarant for sometime, but Anna and her great team continue to improve. A new exciting menu which of course includes daily fresh fish and locally foraged wild garlic means great tasting food.
I had the foie gras yesterday which was cooked to perfection followed by a burger which included a local beer and new Jersey potatos was superb. We were also treated to a taste of a cucumber sorbet which was divine and would work well with their home smoked locally caught mackerel. A great place to eat

3 3 course meals and wine for £99 great value. Staff very friendly, first class chef. Rabbit terrine with tarragonicecream, hake or mackerel or lamb, great choice of homemade icecreams and sorbets or cheesecake.

Dined here on a Friday evening - had to go very early as they were fully booked later on. Good value set menu - three courses for £25. Between us we had Spicy Tomato Soup, Fish Cake, Fish and Chips, and Fillet of Bream, followed by Cheesecake and Bread and Butter Pudding. All were excellent and the service was friendly. By the time we left the restaurant was full. Will definitely return.

Great 2 course menu of fresh local food, can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Make sure you call / email ahead as the restaurant soon fills up. We struggled to find a parking space in the restaurant's car park, however there is free parking (after 6pm) within a 2 minute walk.
Really enjoyed the food and ambience.

Selected off the set menu (actually had a Quids In voucher which they do for Jan - Mar) and had plenty of choice. The “Catch of the Day” fish & chips is enormous but recommend. Very pleasant service, wines reasonably priced and they offer homemade ice cream. We will be eating there again very soon.

As we only live about a mile away, we consider this a local restaurant and so getting a Quids In voucher to eat there over March, we decided to go for a midweek dinner,
The seating was comfortable, the decor was nice and the two staff serving were always courteous and attentive. With regards to the food, the Quids In menu was certainly not an inferior one and our starters (fish cake/ falafel) and main course (tagliatelle/ bream) were well cooked, tasty and ample portions. If you like experimenting with flavours, ask them for their selection of ice creams and sorbets. I had the wasabi sorbet- a great creation but a step too far for me personally.
The only black mark on an otherwise lovely evening were our coffee liqueurs. Mine had a very acrid taste which totally overpowered rather than complimented the calvados and I think my wife had a similar experience. We didn’t bring it to the waitress’ attention but maybe a milder tasting coffee should be used when doing these liqueur mixtures in future.

Just had a lovely meal with four friends. Only had two courses each from the set menu, but all was very nice indeed. Slight difference in portion sizes but that is a minor point.
On a personal note, creme anglais is custard and therefore should only be served hot!We should go here more often.

We hot footed it here straight from the airport at the start of our holiday, having been fantasising about what might be on the menu since leaving the house several hours earlier. We weren’t disappointed. Beautifully fresh food and attentive service. My whitebait was the freshest I’ve ever eaten, just melted in the mouth and my choc brownie dessert was another triumph. I’m so glad this place is still making the effort, it’s a pleasure to eat your food guys.

We went here on short notice with friends. Very good meal, a little pricey but excellent food. The specials on the board were varied and the homemade ice-cream at the end of the meal was a nice touch. Would definitely go again.

Cosy restaurant with the best food in Gorey. Love the new addition of a select cocktail menu 🍸 the special’s board often has some interesting suggestions worth trying.

Dropped in for a supper on New Year’s Eve and enjoyed a splendid evening in this restaurant which offers an excellent selection of local produce. The local scallops were a joy as was the other courses ending with the salted caramel chocolate tart. We will be returning soon.

Was quite disappointed in the evening. Why book a table for 8,30 knowing the kitchen closes at 9 . Before getting drinks we were being rushed to order starters and mains. The two men that severed us truly made us feel like we were an inconvenience! Especially the elder man. The meal was like a rollercoaster, some highs and lows. The mushroom soup starter was tepid, pate and Chowder was fine, goats cheese a bit bland.
The rack of lamb was well cooked but was far from a RACK, it was two cutlets, just not on. The liver was well cooked as requested. The pudding were sadly not good, the pannacotta was not very smooth and did leave an after taste. The Christmas pudding was like under cooked bread pudding, and the cheeseboard was laughable, I don’t mind paying for good food and service but this was not good in both aspects.
Please someone else order their cheeseboard and not laugh when you see it. Unfortunately will not be rushing back.
