Lovely restaurant - attentive staff and good menu and wine list. Tables too small.....four of us struggled to put everything on our little table and had to make use of an adjacent one. Fortunately at lunchtime there was plenty of space.

Went there with friends. The food is really good. I had a burger & it was amazing.. I managed to eat it all. The service was good & location is good. Close to Gory castle if you want to walk your meal off!
I would reccomend this restaurant. If there a minus it' can get a bit noisy as the ceiling is low. But that's the only negative.

We had dinner here on the last night of our holiday in Jersey and we definitely saved the best till the end. Good atmosphere, background music at the right level. One waitress who managed who served everyone promptly. The food was delicious and the portion sizes just right. We had tempura prawns & squid and tuna tartare for starters. Home made fish burgef and belly pork for mains, followed by blueberry pancake for my husband for dessert. I had homemade ice cream from the brilliant selection, choosing beetroot & horseradish and wild garlic & truffle which was really delicious. What a great way to end a meal.

My wife and I visited the Bass and Lobster on the last day of our Jersey holiday.
I cannot recommend this place any better.
The restaurant was clean and modern, easily accessible for my disabled wife.
The food was brilliant, I had the whole lobster with Parmesan, grilled to perfection. My wife (not a fan of seafood) had the pork belly which she said was tenders and very tasty.
Desert was yummy too and surprisingly inexpensive.
Can't wait to return.

In recent weeks we have visited this restaurant several times and it just gets better. For starters we had Crunchy Fish Tails with home made marie rose sauce. It could have been served as a main, the tails were very generous in size. For mains we had home made Fish Burger, Beef Burger and Lobster with crunchy parmesan and herb coating. All perfectly seasoned and very tasty. Our only comment is that we are not great lovers of food served on a slate plate, but that is a personal issue. I would recomment this restaurant to all and am looking forward to our next lunch visit. The Tennefest dining can't come quick enough!

From the outside we thought it was a pub but it was a French style restaurant with a slight pub feeling.
Food was great. Helpings are not that big which was good.

Simply stunning. We've eaten here often in the past and always enjoyed it, but after a break of six months or so went back today for Sunday lunch. The foie gras starter was stunning, genuine Michelin star quality food, and the truffle and beetroot butter served with our bread was one of the best surprise combinations I have ever tasted. Really nice to see somewhere that was already very good indeed raising its game even further. And trip advisor - you are wrong - this isn't #56 in Jersey, it's easily in the top ten!

Had a fabulous evening here last night with 2 friends. Lots of choice of food, specials board was amazing, was difficult to decide what to have! All our choices were so tasty, beautifully presented. Anna and her staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Well done Bass and Lobster.

Last week, we took a bus from Beauport to town, then town to Gorey on a fun adventure with friends, to drink & eat out East for a change. And very glad we are that we did! It was worth the journey, what a fabulous place. Loved the décor & ambiance, great menu & friendly, attentive & professional staff....it was so good to see you again Anna!! And Chivu too! We will definitely be back.

Had the most amazing dinner at the Bass and Lobster, the food was amazing, every detail made from scratch, even the beetroot and truffle butter that comes with the homemade bread. A very interesting broad selection of homemade ice creams too, the bread and butter pudding ice cream was delicious, highly recommend a visit!

We paid a visit into what used to be called The Welcome Inn in Gorey Village (Now The Bass & Lobster) Jersey C.I. for a one-off dinner.
The service we got from the Restaurant and Anne the waitress was impeccable, so much so that we dined each evening around 6.30 pm, for the rest of our holiday. The food was so good that we found dining at the Crab & Lobster dinner wise, better than the Hotel we actually stayed at.
The menu was varied, with the fish beeing caught locally, added to which there was more than numerous bottles of wine from various countries, France, Germany, Italy etc.The atmosphere seeing that the Restaurant was on the main road, was remarkably quiet, more so with the background music (not loud) suited to each occasional visit.
A plus was the fact that we were never rushed or bothered during the meal, and when asked for attention, nothing was too much trouble from the delightful Anne, our waitress. As Island residents for over forty years, (Now living in South West France) it was a surprise to find what once was a local pub is now a fine and wonderful eating house.
|more so and especially in our case as we were only a five-minute walk from and to our Hotel
For the serious eater of good food and wine, both my wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending The Bass & Lobster to any visitor going to Jersey for their holidays. For those without transport, hire car or owned, the Bus Ride along the East Coast is a bonus as after dinner there is a most delightful walk of about ten minutes along the Seawall pavement to take in the floodlighting of that magnificent fortress Gorey Castle that overlooks the whole of Gorey Harbour Grouville Bay, and the French Coast.
(Bonus) The bus stop for the ride back to St Helier runs approximately every half hour or thereabouts.HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE

Went for a quiet dinner for 2 on Saturday, early evening. Quite handy for them to start serving dinner at 5pm if you want to give a miss to the main 'rush hour' around 7-8pm! My previous review was a few years ago and since then they've changed the chef (last year). It's even better now, then it was back then. Food is simply amazing. They now serve home-made bread which was pretty much straight out of the oven, served with Jersey butter and also an added bonus - homemade butter with different flavors. We got to try the beetroot and truffle mix... YUM! For starter I had a seabass and lobster won ton which was very nice. My husband had scallops with pork belly, which he didn't notice on the menu (he doesn't really like pork), but he enjoyed the whole dish and the pork was the softest bit of meat you could imagine, it was literally falling apart under the fork. For main I had an Ostrich fillet special, which was absolutely perfect. One of the best meat dishes I've ever eaten. The dark chocolate and cherry sauce and beetroot mash went with it just right and it looked soooo pretty decorated with edible flowers! The orange and rhubarb dessert was also amazing. Very light and the orange was very nice and sweet. My husband went for a bit of classic... fish and chips (parmesan and truffle chips) and vanilla creme brullee. Again, both really really good, chips had amazing flavour, tartare sauce was easily the best I've tried on the island (I had a little taste of the chips and the sauce :)) and creme brulle was nice and light. They are also serving a non-alcoholic alternative to pimms for the designated drivers, a peach tea with fresh fruits. Again, very nice. Service was very good as usual and the chef gave me a little smile and a nod for complementing the ostrich dish :)

Had a very lovely light lunch here. We opted to have two starters each. The tempura dishes were not that great as the batter was not a light tempura batter at all and the soft shell crab did not have a great flavour. However, the other two dishes were sublime! The tartare of scallop with wasabi ice cream was one of the loveliest dishes that I have ever eaten and my wife's cured beetroot salmon was also delicious. We would definitely come back but maybe not order any tempura dishes again.

We booked a table for 6 on a Sunday evening. The staff were welcoming the atmosphere was very relaxing an the food was excellent. The menu was varied from a roast beef dinner to a seafood tagliatelle which my daughter said was the best she had ever tasted. I had the sea bass and lobster from the specials menu which was excellent, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Love this restaurant. Great venue, lovely decor, friendly staff and excellent food. We have been two or three times now and the staff remember us (probably because I set the tablecloth on fire with the tea lights - OOPS!)

Early evening yesterday we visited the Bass & Lobster again and what amazing food once more. We started with beef terrine with wild garlic & truffle ice cream plus gazpacho with bloody mary sorbet - worth visiting just to taste the unusual ice creams and sorbets alone! That was followed by beautiful roast beef and their fabulous burger with chips and onion rings.
It is really great to be able to eat any time on a Sunday between 12 and 8 and no set menu so both of us were able to choose exactly how much we wanted and not just the standard 3 course traditional lunch. There are so many choices it is difficult to decide though.
Not to be missed!!

We booked a table for six to celebrate my daughters birthday. We were lucky to get a same day reservation, and sat in the main part of the restaurant.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we opted for both the A la Carte and fixed price menus. The Starter of Chicken liver and Fois gras parfait was especially good, and worth a mention. For the mains, the 'Lamb Two ways' and the tempura of King Prawn and Squid were exceptional. We ordered a selection of the homemade ice creams and sorbets, which included weird and wonderful flavours including beetroot(!) which were all amazing. They even brought out a chocolate pudding with a candle in it for my daughter, as they must have overheard that it was her birthday. All in all, six people, two or three courses each, and not a scrap left on a plate. far too good to waste.
This place is truly excellent. I have eaten in some amazing restaurants, including numerous with Michelin stars, and to be honest, this little place could hold it's own against any of them for quality and flavour. But at the crazy price of under £150 for six which included wine. 10/10

Just came back from the most terrific meal at The Bass and Lobster at Gorey Bay. These people really know their food and I certainly couldn't fault any part of the meal - from the fabulous home made and straight from the oven pumpkin seed bread which was served with Beetroot and white truffle dip, to the fabulous cod, lobster tail and Jersey Royal spuds and then finally to the luscious bread and butter pudding which was served with clotted cream. It was all faultless and I totally recommend this restaurant on a sunny or rainy, Sunday afternoon.

Highly recommend this for amazing fresh seafood.
The menu is interesting and varied. We enjoyed the complimentary house bread (beetroot, chilli and ginger with a truffle and beetroot spread and Jersey butter) while waiting for our meal. We had two mains and the truffle parmesan chips as an extra side. The lobster was delicious, as were the scallops with crispy thick smoked pancetta - we thoroughly enjoyed these main dishes and they are signature items at this restaurant.
We also enjoyed a dessert of creme brulee with blackcurrant sorbet, which finished off the meal perfectly.
This restaurant is not one to miss!

Went for dinner with my wife and her Mum and partner for dinner. The staff were attentive and engaging and knew the menu and wines well. They did me a starter portion of a main that was not on the a la carte which was helpful. Pretty good value and will go again.

We very much enjoyed dinning at the bass and lobster. Had the tuna that melted in the mouth and my wife had a smoked duck breast. We stayed for dessert and coffees as we found the atmosphere and service just fantastic.
