Definitely worth a visit. The stained glass windows, architecture etc are beautiful. There is some building work going on inside at the moment but it didn't distract us. We will probably return for another visit.

Lichfield Cathedral is awe-inspiring - from both outside and inside you see wonderful architecture. The stewards are helpful in giving direction and this is definitely one of the most beautiful buildings in lichfield - definitely worth a visit.

Visited Lichfield cathedral today, what a beautiful building. New windows are now in and the outside looks like some work has been done. Stunning building. Only complaint is they wouldn't allow entry for my dogs. Surely all gods creatures should be allowed inside? after all, didn't the market used to be held inside with livestock hundreds of years ago?

This is one of the best cathedrals I have seen and free to go in, some beautiful architecture and very interesting the volunteers we spoke to were informative and passionate about the history of the cathedral

We were met by a lovely warden who explained the main attractions of the cathedral and invited us to use a free map to help us explore its wonderful interior. All the volunteers we met were friendly and knowledgeable. You can stay and worship or wander and chat, the atmosphere allows you do whatever you want without feeling rushed. I would recommend this to all visitors coming to Lichfield as it really is a beautiful cathedral.

We were in Lichfield so it was impossible not to go and see the cathedral! It is a huge focal point in the city and is well worth a visit.
On this occasion we could only walk around the outside as we had our dogs with us but we have been inside previously and it is huge and stunning both inside and out.
The external grounds and cathedral close are kept immaculate and the cathedral itself is well maintained.
If you are in Lichfield you must visit

I am anything but a religious scholar but I did find the cathedral a superb place to learn more about English history. This is my third visit and whilst this impressive building doesn't change it reveals more secrets each time. I was enthralled by the image of the old fortifications that used to totally surround the actual cathedral but are sadly no longer apparent. I must say the man working as a guide that day was so knowledgeable and interesting. He kept checking to make sure he wasn't getting carried away with his explanations. If only all guides were like him, I could have stayed for hours. I will be back!

Was visiting Lichfield for the day and come across the Cathedral while walking along the street. It looks amazing from the outside in more on the inside. You don't have to but they ask for a small donations in the box which it's well worth a few pounds. There's a couple of people there to tell you the history about the Cathedral and the items in it its well worth a look as it's amazing.

Nice place to babes look around, not much to do if you're not religious though.

Helpful volunteers answer your questions, taking photos inside is frowned upon

Wow wow wow.

I have been to this service for the last three years and it is tremendous.

Not only is Lichfield Cathedral majestic, it has been restored where required to the very highest standard and it is something that the people of Lichfield should be enormously proud of. It seats several hundred people and when we arrived one hour prior to the service start time, we found the cathedral more than 90% full. So popular is this service that you cannot afford to get there 15 minutes before the start of the service or you will be turned away at the door. During the course of the service we were told that 400 people had been turned away at the door that evening - they will have been so disappointed.
The popular carols are sung, children are invited to the front to sing Away In A Manger, the choir perform their own pieces and the band play every carol. This is a magnificent evening and remind us of what Christmas is all about.
It would be very kind of members of the congregation to leave a donation to the cathedral in the small envelopes provided on each seat and this is used to refurbish the cathedral where necessary and maintain the upkeep of this gorgeous piece of architecture, so be generous, because you are going to have a marvellous evening.
The congregation come from near and far, sometimes as far as South Africa and Australia to experience this wonderful celebration - do not miss it ........ be early, and enjoy.

Visiting for the first time, we were welcomed at the door and given a free colour guide. Entry was also free, but we did donate to the upkeep- they need something like £5 a minute or so, every minute of the year!.... The building, in December, was warm, and encouraged us to spend time looking around the features of the cathedral, and then to look at the Staffordshire Hoard exhibition extract that was there at the time. Cameras are permitted.
