The Lichfield Catgedral is a great place to spend a few hours, all the history of the building itself and the statues on the from and the sides. The windows... And on top of that the amazing Lichfield Angel and pieces of the Staffs Hoard in display. The organ is great if you get chance to hear it. Afterwards pop into the Cathedral coffee shop opposite for a really tasty feast. Then the rest of the city which is lovely (including feeding the ducks!) is only a 5 minute stroll away.

Lichfield is a lovely city to visit, especially nice in the Summer when the gardens are at their best. The cathedral is just a short walk from the city centre, an easy walk, even for my Mum who has a walking stick! You can get to the cathedral from the bottom of the City centre, it's all cobbled stones, no cars, so it's a great place for old or children to roam the small shops that line the cobbled streets.
Once inside the cathedral you are impressed with the wonderful building, it's a real treat. The summer has special events on, and it seemed a friendly place to visit, not austere like some imposing cathedrals, I can't wait for Christmas when the place is decorated in red, with holly and decorations.
A lovely place to spend a few hours.

The front of the this wonderful cathedral depicts kings of England back to medieval times. The cathedral has had a long life and a very exciting one at times. Well worth a bid it especially if you manage to catch Evensong

We had spent a day shopping in Litchfield and then visited the Cathedral. Wow it's truly beautiful. First you must walk round it externally. The arches are breath taking. Every corner fills you with amazement. The architecture is wonderul. This sort of talk is not how I normally write but it is truly worth a visit. Then to my surprise there is no charge to enter. A voluntary contribution if you wish. Internally there is so much to see, leave time to wander and read all the past history. You will leave regardless of any religious aspects, just appreciating the fact we still have so much history and beauty to appreciate. Then go to the chapel cafe across the road. A lovely menu and reasonably priced. The end to a perfect day.

Loved wandering round this beautiful cathedral. Staff very warm and welcoming. Unfortunately the stained glass is away being cleaned until spring next year.

If you are in Lichfield this is a must see. Quietly majestic, the cathedral is testimony to the craftsmanship of generations, from the Normans to the Victorian restorers. It is a pity that the Herkenrode Flemish east windows are not currently in situ as they are being restored. But this doesn't detract from the beauty of the place. The chapter house is an essential part of the visit as are some of the other stained-glass windows including those by Kempe. There is also a thoughtful installation commemorating the fallen of the First World War.

Just stand outside and look at the facade, the sheer craftsman ship is just outstanding this is carried over to the interior which also has an atmosphere that pushes you to delve deep into every corner of this magnificent building, what more can one say.

This Cathedral is beautiful and historic. On arrival we were greeted by a volunteer who gave us advice on what we could see. Although donations are requested there is no pressure for you to contribute despite the immense cost of keeping the place open. There are many things to see but the highlights are the Lichfield Angel and the Staffordshire Hoard. During our visit we met a man from Chesterfield who was on his way to see them play football at Walsal. He did not know the Hoard was housed in the Cathedral and was highly excited to be able to view it.

The amazing sculptures - inside and out. The Saxon Horde is amazing and the tour guides have an absolute wealth of knowledge and are so helpful

Amazing 8th century cathedral with so much history - and free to get in. There were stalls selling cider and cake inside which was nice. Some spectacular things to see here. Worth the visit and whilst you can leave a donation, it is entirely at your discretion.

This cathedral dedicated to St Chad was begun in 1300 years ago and has been developed over the centuries into the splendure it is today. Do buy the guide book to help you around especially as there is no charge for entry , but donations are welcome. The guide ensures you see things you would otherwise miss. There is high quality glass, stone work and woodwork from every era but the high light has to be the Lichfield angel found when excavating to build a new altar. This stone carved angel from the 8c is in the chapter house along with a magnificent display of gold work from the Stafforshire hoard. There are also mediaeval wall paintings not damaged during the civil war. Will return again to enjoy more treasures.

Lichfield Cathedral is great to wander through soaking up the wonderful architecture and history of the times. From the mosaic floors to the wondrous arches, spires and stained glass windows there is something that inspires all of us. I would definitely recommend buying a guidebook before walking through the cathedral as the guidebooks provide both history and specific items to look for that you might miss otherwise. Whether you appreciate the religious aspect or the beautiful statues, windows, architecture etc., there is something for everyone to admire and hold in their memory. I definitely will go again if I have the opportunity.

Lichfield is a fantastic place to visit - it's easy to get to and park, there are very fine places to eat and to be entertained - the shopping is great too!

There is a lot of history associated with Lichfield, of course, but for me the jewel in the crown (and the place you do not want to miss seeing) is the magnificent Cathedral. Set in it's own Close, the Cathedral is a dramatic and imposing building, with a strength and serenity unique in my experience. Even outside, its grand façade draws your eyes to every facet of the architecture.

Day or night, it is a sensory pleasure for you eyes and is a very uplifting experience.

Inside the proportions of the Cathedral are immense, yet very intimate - you can be alone with your thoughts (and prayers) in every nook and cranny. It is a very special place indeed.

But, apart from the religious services, the Cathedral puts on regular Concerts throughout the year, by some of the top musicians in the world - hearing the musical best perform within this space, is a true thrill that everyone should experience - it is spine-tingling!

There is a very snug, but handy Cathedral Shop, close to the Main Entrance to get your tokens of your visit.

Lichfield Cathedral is a magnificent place for all sorts of personal/religious/tourist/concert-goer reasons - if you are visiting Lichfield, then the Cathedral should be the number one must-see - you will not be disappointed!!

Unfortunately when we visited, there was a service going on so we were unable to walk round, but interior and exterior are stunning. Will go back another time to see it in all its glory

Inside and out this is an immensely impressive place. The Eucharist we attended was inclusive and welcoming and the whole experience remarkable. The low fall sunlight played dramatically through the nave windows throughout the service and the guest singing group from Knutsford did a good job.

A wonderful warm and friendly building, set in an intimate cathedral close. The music here is excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. The statues on the west front are really interesting.

A beautiful cathedral, architecturally stunning with gorgeous carvings and stained glass windows. It's free to enter, they just request a small donation of whatever you can afford. It's interesting to walk around and see the marble carvings, light a candle and listen to the choir sing (if they're in there!)
The area it's in is lovely, in it's own little cul-de-sac. A must see if ever in Lichfield.

What a wonderful and beautiful cathedral. I have family ties to it (mom inherited an etching and we later found out dad's side helped with the Skidmore screen), so we just had to pitstop to see it while in the UK. So glad we did! A nice sidenote is that it is donation-only, so you can give what you can afford, as opposed to other cathedrals charging 15 pounds to visit.

Went to a very pleasant organ recital with a video in the organ loft so that we could see the organist on a screen. Next day went to have a look round - will be really worth a visit next spring when the windows are reinstalled.
