It is a pleasure to live in a city with such a great piece of architecture and history on out doorstep. The cathedral is very much a must do when in Lichfield. Great for a peaceful walk around or to take the family for a wonder around. The outside is amazing how detailed it is from so long ago. Makes a great picture. Must visit!

have just spent the weekend in Lichfield and a trip to the cathedral is always a must do thing when visiting Lichfield. To sit on a Saturday afternoon and listen to a choir and band rehearsing is wonderful. The architecture and stained glass windows are beautiful. Walking around inside it was lovely to see several different Christmas trees each one decorated differently. There is a tree dedicated to the memory of Stephen Sutton, the 19 year old who sadly lost his battle with cancer this year, very touching. Some of the plaques on the walls bring tears to my eyes.

Both inside and outside the cathedral is so photogenic especially on a sunny day. A wonderful cathedral and a special one having three spires.

This is the only three spired cathedral in the country. We don't do religion in any way shape or form, however we do like to visit such places for their architectural beauty, and Lichfield cathedral does not disappoint. It is a magnificent building, it's just a pity that the sandstone from which it was built is badly eroding in many places. If you are at all religious then we are sure that you will be glad that you visited, and if like us you just want to see a magnificent building, then you won't be disappointed. How those builders all those years ago managed to produce such magnificence is a source of wonder

We decided to take a look, not really expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised by a well maintained, interesting spot of sigh-seeing here. There was an interesting flyer in multiple languages and very friendly staff who went out of their way to help us. Lichfield is a great city and the cathederal really tops-off a visit with some local history.

We visited this facility with my dad who was widowed earlier this year and he wanted to go somewhere to reflect on what would have been their 62nd wedding anniversary. When we got inside, I tried to tell this to the woman 'meeting and greeting' but she just talked over me and forced a leaflet in my hand, even though I told her I didn't need a guide as we had been before. She clearly was so full of the sound of her own voice hat she didn't hear me asking where the private chapel was so we had no option but to wander round trying to find it. There was a noticeable absence of cathedral staff so we just sat down in the main part and reflected there. The shop is very small and there is no cafe inside so we walked along the street a short way to the cathedral coffee shop. I am sorry Lichfield, this is not high on our list of welcoming Cathedrals with Hereford and Brecon currently equal first in our book.

Due to the daughter singing in the 'Young Voices 'choir ,I have been to this building numerous times over the years for various lessons/concerts, especially at Christmas time when it gets fully packed out.I would recommend a visit to this Catheredral for its architecture and beautiful surroundings and the acoustics of the building when a concert is on.

I can see Lichfield Cathedrals famous spires when I walk my dog in the nature reserve close to home but had never been inside until recently. It is so beautiful both inside and out and the history associated with it is readily provided by guides that are willing to give a little or lot of their time. Architecturally it is fascinating and spiritually moving, I will make this a regular visit as I am sure it is the kind of place that you will discover new things each time. A jewel in a very pretty City.

In October I made my first visit to Lichfield and whilst walking into town passed near to the Cathedral so decided to go inside. What a magnificent building - so vast. There are guided tours but I did not have sufficient time to join so walked round on my own. It is obviously steeped in history so will try to make a point of paying a return visit - but will allow time to take a guided tour.

This is a beautiful building in a lovely setting. The Chapter House is particularly interesting & contains information & bits and pieces from the Staffordshire hoard.

What a fantastic building both inside and outside...contained in a lovely enclosed space. The very walls exude history and grandeur. Atmospheric inside...an architectural gem of a cathedral

As this was my first visit to Lichfield, the catheral was far bigger and more ornate than expected. A very helpful guide inside took time to help my granddaughter with a 'trail'. Could return many times and find something new each time.

Should be a UNESCO site. One of the finest cathedrals in the world. The finest cathedral close in the country. The Staffordshire Horde is a bonus.

I found the cathedral very interesting and beautiful worth a drive down to see , and if your not good at walking for hours the shopping centre is just a nice size as you don't have to walk your feet off , also a craft shop I fell in love with called ( spell bound ) it's full of buttons and beads all kind of things to make, fabulous .

I haven't been into Lichfield Cathedral for a while, the last time it was a beautifully sunny day and the windows let in so much sun it was reverential.
There is now scaffolding up at that end which destroys the ambience of the Cathedral, although there is a fabulous Saxon room to walk around with recent discoveries and the early buildings and carvings inside and out are marvellous. Looks like the outside has had a jet wash too.
I would wait until the window work is finished and get a true picture of how the Cathedral is if you are travelling a distance. I didn't appreciate it when I lived locally. There is a lovely café - The Chapter House at the side of the cathedral and that is well worth a visit too.
