Amazing venue for a country music event....only downside was the lack of nearby toilets, not surprised given its 1200 years old.

So nice to use the biluilding to bring community together

I have nothing but praise for the powers that be who organise such fabulous events, tours, exhibitions, courses etc etc at Lichfield Cathedral. Over the years we’ve been to loads of really great things and condsider ourselves blessed to be able to enjoy such a wonderful place, which throws its doors open and welcomes everyone - in my opinion it fulfils its purpose at the heart of the community magnificentl. Thanks to the very nice volunteers too, you make us feel so welcome each and every time we visit.

This time we were at the Candlelit Queen Concert in the Cathedral - one of a long list of fantastic concerts staged here on a regular basis - an absolutely amazing backdrop to a great performance which included all our favourite Queen songs, the second half got people on their feet singing their hearts out and we didn’t need asking twice to get up and dance!! Young, not quite so young and every age group in between came together for a tremendous night of fun - and the Cathedral cast A Kinda Magic spell on us all.

What a stunning building! ⛪
It's free to enter, though they do ask for a donation.. There's plenty to see, it's huge! I absolutely loved it. 🙂 (And they do currently have an outdoor beach area for the kids, also free!)Visited on

A stunning cathedral both inside and outside. They only ask for a donation of whatever you can afford instead of set ticket prices. Lots to see and a nice gift shop also!Visited on

Stunning cathedral and knowledgable staff. But I have no idea why people have to bring dogs with them to a place of worship or why it is allowed?Visited on

A beautiful, sacred place. The community really do well to make such excellent use of such a treasure. Acoustics are also a delight. Concerts here sound divine, and lighting and AV technology are professionally provided.

This IS England 🌞
What an Aw Inspiring Location. Very Welcoming, Educational, Give a Donation to Enter No Entrance Fee otherwise, but well worth the Donation which is for a great Cause. The Cathedral is a History Book, a Time Capsule, a Pilgrimage 🙏. Stunning, Thought Provoking Architecture, Stain Glass Windows tell a Story, Take a Minute to use Your Imagination. We'll go back again now we've seen the Cathedral, want to take a Minute to soak up more of the Atmosphere ⛪.

It's many years since I lasted visited so thought it was time for a return. We were actually doing the "March of the Elephants" trail so there were some in the cathedral.

The outside is outstanding and one of my favourite frontages, but inside is a disappointment. It's not as impressive, although there are plenty of grand tombs to former Bishops including Selwyn, founder of the Cambridge college, and the Chapter house contains some artefacts, including the Lichfield angel.

The most annoying thing was that I'd checked opening times and knew it was closed until lunchtime for an event, but when we arrived there was a stage and seating laid out for a concert in the nave, and before we'd finished, the choir stalls were locked down for a choir to perform/practice. Listening to the voices was amazing, but we'd not been pre warned, so we could visit the stalls before they started, and I was stopped from taking a photo through the opening because the choir had a no photo agreement, even though I was only taking the ceiling and they wouldn't have featured.
