I have been meaning to visit the National Memorial Arboretum for many years and the pandemic definitely slowed my opportunity to visit down but I was in the area and decided that this was the time to go and check it out.

I used google maps to get me to the arboretum but it is also well signposted from the A38.

There is some very orderly parking and if you have paid to park in advance you will already have a reserved place.

Within the arboretum there are many monuments and reminders for people who have sacrificed for us to live in a country where we have the freedoms to remember these things in the hope that they will never happen again.

There really are some magnificent and poignant memorials and I would suggest taking time to sit and consider why these are in place.

For the less mobile there is the land train to take you around this massive site.

There is a very good cafe and gift shop to get a souvenir of your visit.

A quietly powerful place to visit. I particularly appreciated a memorial setting which avoided being militaristic.

Amazing memorials to each of the services present at the site. Each memorial is nicely spread out and they are not to cramped together. Walking around can be quite the distance but mobility options can opted for. Have visited once before and will definitely be back.

Our second visit to the excellent memorial site, we spent around 3 hours visiting and respecting the memorials. All very sad but necessary to honour the fallen. We had a hot drink early on then in the afternnon enjoyed a lovely roast beef Sunday lunch.

Wonderful afternoon out for all the family. Get to walk through and take in all of the history and also the stick man trail for the younger ones. Enough to keep the whole family happy. Superbly well kept. Very tidy.

The Arboretum is an amazing place 110 acres of memorials and beautiful gardens. I was so impressed with the amount of groups of young children being shown around a lesson to the young to take forward into the future. The staff are so knowledgeable and helped me find the memorial to the Market Garden campaign in which my father was a paratrooper. There is also a beautiful memorial to the twin towers. I would recommend people of all ages to go its very humbling. There is also a brilliant cafe

Flat out refused to help change the date of our tickets to enable us to join our friends and family at the illumination event 2022, even though there were places available! I was told by the Head of Business Support Services that they 'could' swap our tickets, but said it would take them 15 minutes (no time at all really) so he refused!!! The 2 tickets cost £48, which is by no means cheap, and he suggested we buy 2 more! Not really the behaviour you would expect from a charitable organisation.
UPDATE… I’ve upgraded the feedback to 3 stars from from 1 because they got back in touch, and have now helped us change the date, for which we are very grateful.
