After a good lunch in the visitor centre, and some time feeding the ducks, we had a stroll around the lake.
As a local who hadn't been to the arboretum for quiet a few years, I was impressed with the effort that the local council had put into sprucing up and maintaining it.
There are many things that are easy to complain about in Walsall but this place rises above all the critics.

You wouldn't think you were in the middle of Walsall when you are in the Arboretum. It's a great place for a steady walk or for a great time with the kids. There's a good well-used skateboard park. Good coffee and food at the cafe. And especially since the recent refurbishment, things are really looking up for the Arboretum. There are quite a few music and drama events throughout the year.

Lovely place for a walk. Good play area for young ones. Well maintained with varied landscapes. Park staff work hard to keep it tidy. Small cafe that is basic.

Walsall's jewel in the crown. . A very beautiful place to visit, something for everyone. Newly built family friendly cafe. Play area and waterpark for children. Peaceful, well tended gardens. A wonderful variety of trees and extended woodland walks. Activities for all ages in the visitor centre according to season. Organised 5k Saturday run for the more athletic !

Myself and friends went a walk around the Arboretum at the end of August. Dropped lucky with the weather and the sunshine just makes the park beautiful. It's a nice walk with a lovely lake (with Swan pedalos if you fancy!!) There is lots of wildlife to see. Benches for picnics. A little area where kids can play in the water. Toilets & ice creams available. Makes a change from the pub if you want some fresh air.

Weekend, it becomes busy. But, week days, it is one of the few nicest place in Walsall to visit. It is a beautiful and tranquil park. They have a really nice cafe to drink and eat something, and watch passersby or beautiful surroundings including the Arboretum. For kids, they have a very nice play area with lots of activities. Especially, they have water features for hot summer days. So, it is nice escape from busy Walsall.

I take my children to Walsall Arboretum at least once a week. It's a beautiful green area in the middle of a busy town, so perfect for a relaxing walk or taking the kids to play in the fantastic park area. The splash pad can get quite busy during warmer weather but you can make a day of it if you take a picnic along with you. There's usually an ice cream van by the park in warmer weather too. There's plenty of free parking and loads of things for kids of all ages to do including a basketball court, skate park, tennis courts, table tennis, trim trail, splash pad, park and a visitors centre with clean toilets. The toilets on the park area could do with being updated and they are always a bit dirty. The visitors centre loo's are much nicer. There are two beautiful lakes with lots of ducks, swans and geese and plenty of areas to picnic. I also enjoy the local Parkrun here on a Saturday morning as it brings the local community together. Fantastic area and kept very clean and tidy.

I been coming to this park for ages, it's beautifull, we can spend the whole day here and not get bored, the children's area does tend to get busy but it's still great for the kids, also lovely to walk through

First visit...but definitely will be coming back. Never spent a penny...which is very rare with kids! Took a picnic, went to the splash pad (bit too busy for us though. ..no one's fault though). Lovely play area. Did the troll trail which kept us active.

The improvements here have really paid off. We used to avoid this place but now it's the norm for our dog walks. I also do the Parkrun here too.

Let's face it , Walsall doesn't get the best press, but the Arbo as we veterans call it, really is the best thing in Walsall and beats any park in Birmingham hands down.
There has been a transformation over the last few years not only in the quality of the landscaping and facilities but also in the approach of staff who acknowledge that the park belongs to the people of Walsall and it is there for their enjoyment.
The Splash Pad is a work of genius, I have never seen so many happy smiling faces on adults and children alike. The staff work hard to keep the surroundings clean and tidy, the tennis and table tennis are free and the picnic areas are peaceful and relaxing. The cafe overlooks the lake and I doubt there could be a better view found anywhere . Clare is a fund of knowledge about the variety of ducks and geese on the lake and duck food is available(no bread, bad for birds). You can even take a swan shaped pedalo out, lifejackets supplied, if feeling bold. The former golf course is now Walsall Country Park, no risk of being brained by a golf ball any more(weren't the old days fun!) It is a joy to watch little ones Going on a Bear Hunt , there are few places in towns where kids can walk through swishy swashy grass and use their imagination

Fantastic to see some lovely and cheap activities going on throughout the summer for kids.

Myself and a friend took our kids aged 5 and 7 to do the den building and tree spirits activity. Only £2 for 2 hours of outdoorsy fun.

We were a little sceptical for a while as the man running the activity didn't seem to have much to say. Was very quiet and didn't really excite the kids in any way. We were expecting the kids to be shown how to make dens, but the were just kind of pointed to piles of branches and told to make their den.

I must say the tree spirit part really saved the day here and the kids loved making them with clay and bits of forest.

The visitors centre looks lovely, i wished id had to time to stop for a drink after. Maybe next time!

Took my young children there, we started with a bike ride through a beautiful and well kept park and then ended up in the adventure island for a play on the brilliant equipment and ending with the splash pad. We spent 3 hrs there and loved every minute, couldn't escape the balloon man though ( £5 a balloon).

I go to the Arboretum most days walking the dog, or taking children to play. Have been visiting since 1960's ! The Arboretum has never been better - it is maintained, and has been improved, to an excellent standard.
There is the Lake area with the new visitor centre and cafe - feed the ducks ( provided appropriate food only please! ) and enjoy the more formal gardens and trees.
The extension has children's play area, skatepark, basketball court, tennis courts and table tennis tables, plus wide areas to play and picnic in.
The Country Park is wilder and fairly recently planted with trees - makes a great escape from our busy town and connects to other rural bits via the canal.
Please respect and enjoy the Arboretum - but please take your rubbish home or put it in the bins provided.

We took our granddaughters who are 6 to practice their bicycling. The routes are reasonably flat and safe. There are also large grass flat areas for young children to practice on. There's also a large play area for when they get fed up of bile riding. In the summer take them a towel and wet gear because there's a childrens wet fountain play area. Great fun.
