Recently saw 'Beryl' , staged by the Octagon in their temporary home at Bolton Library. It was absolutely awesome, everyone of the 4 cast worked very hard and it paid off. Probably one of the best productions I have ever seen, poignant, funny and the fact it was based on a true story made it all the better.

Great selection of events over the years. Plays, comedy events and pantomime. Good food and drink. Comfortable seating. Fair prices.

Not only a fantastic place for theatre shows; the octagon offers great theatre classes for youngsters. My daughter has attended for a number of years and is always welcomed and cared for by the wonderful staff.

The venue is very small but very compact, you can have the actors standing right next to you it;s that small. It is nowhere near as good as Manchester but it is ok if you want to see a small production.

After attending many productions over the years I have never been disappointed with the Octagon. Good value, access and entertainment. I have walked out of more than one central Manchester production they were so dire.

My wife and I went 5 times last year and a few times before that. One of the performances was Singing int the Rain. It was brilliant. The shape of the theatre is Octagon shaped of course. The seating is so close to the actors you could touch them. It is possible to have a meal there prior to the start of the play and a drink at the interval. You can park your car at a cheaper rate if you get your car park ticket stamped at the payment desk. The atmosphere is great in the theatre. Last year the whole theatre was refurbished and it has only recently been opened again. I am told it is great but I haven’t been to a show this year yet. Looking forward to going though.
