We were made so welcome. Marvellous tasty food - a simple bruschetta has never tasted so good! Real pizza oven. Immaculately clean. Wide choice of pastas. Fresh crispy salad. Organic olive oil on the table. My family and I loved this place! We tried it as it was number one on Trip Advisor and we all feel it deserves its position!

We dined here one evening in February 2016. The restaurant is run by a small Italian family. Obviously the menu's authentic, and listed some delicious meals as well as pizza and pasta. It was all very tasty and the waiter and waitress were charming. It was very reasonably priced, too. Highly recommended - and booking's easy on the website.

Marvellous authentic fresh Italian food, great smiling service and friendly family atmosphere - and the father even makes his own bread. Wide range of superb dishes, particularly the delicious thin crust pizzas cooked in their impressive pizza oven. Highly recommended

I've been to this restaurant a number of times, with family, friends and partner I cannot recommend highly enough. The wine choice is superb to say the least (and I am fussy). Now onto the food. I've made it a misson of mine to have something different every time and it NEVER disappoints ever! I've just finished the tortellini with beef, parmesan and butter! OMG! If you come to Eastbourne you have to come here, our little slice of Sicily.

Turned up without a booking and got a managed to get a lovely table for two. Such a friendly atmosphere and such a friendly waitress Leah.
I asked for advice on the wine and was recommended to a wine from the region where her family use to live. It was gorgeous. Likewise all the advice on the food was excellent and honest. Although we only had pizza they were the best we have had. The base and toppings superb. Finished the meal with a lovely coffee and lemonchello.
What an amazing family run restaurant with true family passion. You have to try it.

Went to Eastbourne for the weekend a couple of weeks ago and found this restaurant on trip advisor and thought we would try it
we hadn't booked but luckily we get in but I advise you to book as about 10 minutes after we got there about another four or five tables worth of people turned up but could not get in as it was fully bookedThe restaurant is run by the family mum and dad don't speak English but they can certainly cook and they work in the main kitchen down stairs and the daughter runs the restaurant with her husband cooking the pizza up stairs in front of all the restaurant I even got invited to look at the pizza oven
The food is out of this world all home cooked and the home made bread that's is made by dad is amazingWe don't now what to choose so we asked dad what he would recommend
We had the bruschetta and the do about four or five different one the seafood one was lovely the I had eight hour bolognese which was very tasty and Sam had ravioli We worth a visit hope it doesn't get any bigger one day and lose the authenticity

Been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while now and finally took the plunge today (Sunday 31 Jan) and all I can say is WOW!
We loved the vibe of the place, the food was authentic and the service was warm, friendly and welcoming. For starters we had arancini with tomato sauce and burrato (?) salad. The arancini was very tasty and the burrato (?) was absolutely delightful.
We then shared a pasta bolegnese with a sauce that had been cooked for 8hrs. It was perfectly moorish. Loved this dish. Mains consisted of lasagne and chicken in a chilli and tomato sauce with Italian herbed potatoes. The lasagne was authentic and tasty and the chicken was cooked perfectly and worked really well with the olives.
Desserts were rum baba and tiramisu. They were the perfect end to a lovely meal.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Anema e core and intend to return again as soon as we can.
The food is second to none. The waitress is delightful. The restaurant has a right nice feel to it.
Total cost for 2 starters, 1 pasta dish, 2 mains, 2 desserts and a bottle of house white was approx £60.00 and worth every penny.
Thanks for a wonderful lunch. See you soon.

I have eaten there quite a few times, so it is now time to leave an informed review. Last night I had Insalata di Mare (Seafood salad, from the day specials) which was absolutely delicious. It reminded me of the seafood salads I used to have for lunch in beachside restaurants in Italy during the summer months (I am Italian, by the way). Then I had the tuna steak (again, from the day specials) which was huge (!) and perfectly cooked and seasoned.
The best thing about the restaurant is that is run by Italians and all the dishes are authentic and authentically cooked. The pizza, which I had on previous visits, is proper Neapolitan pizza and you can't get any better than that! The waitress/manager is very bubbly and makes you feel very welcome. The chefs, who are husband and wife, normally come upstairs to quickly meet the customers which is a nice touch and makes you realise that the place is definitely authentic. The menu changes frequently (both the specials and the à la carte one) which is good, so we can try new dishes. They also very kindly added Burratina after we asked for it (this is a delicious cheese, similar to mozzarella but with an exquisitely creamy filling... Try it!)It's a fairly small place, so we have to remember to book, but this also helps to keep the food quality at a very high levels. If you look for Italian food, you'll certainly get the real deal here. Highly recommended (I'm Italian, so I know what I'm talking about!)

Never been one for Italian restaurants. After all, why pay for something you can cook at home? Well if you can reproduce food to this standard, then I suggest you open up your own restaurant. You'll make a fortune!
I went with 2 x vegetarians and my 8 year old son. Everyone is catered for, and every dish was cooked beautifully. I would highly recommend the Gnocchi funghi e salsiccia. One of the most flavoursome and well cooked dishes I've ever had. Make sure you're hungry if you order a pizza. Completely homemade, cooked in a traditional oven and they are huge, as is the calzone. I thought my boy was going to explode
4 people, 3 courses (not from a set menu) and 2 drinks each for £80!!!!! An absolute bargain!
And lastly Leah, our waitress for the night and the daughter in this family run jewel, was fantastic. She was obviously busy as the restaurant was full, but she still made an effort to comment on and recommend dishes based on individual preferences. Very knowledgeable and made a fuss of my son whilst keeping up a constant conversation with everyone in the restaurant. And when she was dealing with other customers, there was always someone on hand to get whatever we needed without having to ask.
I stand corrected and converted. Will be recommending this to everyone and going back before it becomes impossible to get a booking. Number 1 on here for a reason

Do not miss an opportunity to visit this restaurant if you like Italian food.
I've now been twice, the first time for a quick snack one lunchtime when, even though I only wanted a couple of small starters, I was made most welcome and the second time last night to celebrate a friend's birthday.I was keeping my fingers crossed because, following my first visit, I had praised the restaurant so much that I hoped we wouldn't be disappointed but that couldn't be further from the truth. The food was fantastic - do try the Arancino as a starter or with a salad for a light lunch - the pastas we tried were beautiful and the friend who had a pizza said that it was the best he had even when in Italy. I didn't expect to have room for a dessert but couldn't resist Tarta del Nonna. Family recipes are a feature of the menu. In the end we all had 3 courses, 2 bottles of wine and coffee and the bill came to just over £25 per head (that includes the wine!).
The staff are so welcoming & friendly (but not intrusive) and were very tolerant of my husband's attempts at Italian. When we eat out it's usually Italian and I think this is the best Italian restaurant in Eastbourne. It deserves to thrive. If you want to eat out in Eastbourne go to Anema E Core
This restaurant deserves to prosper and thrive.

Thought I'd give this a try after seeing the top rating on Tripadvisor. Not disapointed. I've spent a lot of time in the area of Italy that the couple running this restaurant are from and can honestly say that the dishes we had were as good as anything I've ever had in Italy.
We had a romantic window seat and the staff were attentive, informative and friendly without being overbearing.Best of all the prices are great for such authentic food (they must be importing the ingredients!!). Definitely going back. Can recommend highly.

As with the other reviews a very friendly, family run restaurant with some of the nicest Italian food we've had in the UK. Tried the antipasti which was very good choice of meats and cheese then two freshly cooked pasta dishes, both excellent.
Will be back

We visited there today with our 2 year old daughter. As soon as we arrived the two lovely staff members came over with some crayons and colouring pad for Olivia.
The food was outstanding - fresh pizza from the pizza oven! I can honestly say it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. My daughter had the child's pizza, and she loved it! and so big for a childs portion.
We cant wait to come back for dinner soon, thanks guys!P.S. Olivia loved her bubbles :-)

I don't ever review the same place twice, but I'm making an exception here.
Having returned from Italy in November, by January I had a hankering for some really good Italian food. Not the sort of Italian restaurant food you can get anywhere, but the real Italian home cooking that I'm missing, so decided to come by here on my way through to Hastings for a quick lunch with my daughter.
I know Anema e Core has great reviews for it's pizza, but anyone can do great pizza with a wood-fired pizza oven, right? It was lunchtime, and I decided to have a pizza (which I considered to be a lost opportunity when their pasta dishes are so fantastic, and I wouldn't normally do that. Pizza is not a meal, but a snack).
The reason I'm doing a second review of Anema e core is that this pizza, and I've had many in my time, all over Italy and the UK, is probably the best pizza I have ever eaten. There has been a lot of fuss about the pizza at VIP and Pizza 500 in Brighton, but this one surpassed them all.
The dough was thin, but pillowy at the edge, with just the right amount of singe, and there was a lovely sweetness to it. Mostly, pizza is all about the base, but this one didn't stop there. The tomato sauce wasn't mucked around with, it was natural. The overall coming together of all the elements was perfection.
I love pizza and I've had pizza from little places in the back streets of Rome, Florence, Venice and Verona, and I cannot say that I have had a better pizza than this. Like I say, I wouldn't normally have a pizza in a restaurant where they do such amazingly rustic home-cooked Italian food, but I will do the 85 mile round trip to get this one. It's that good.
Having said that, this isn't the best food that this restaurant do, because what they create here is a real bit of Italy in Eastbourne. Seriously. I'm coming to the conclusion that this restaurant does the best food on planet Earth.
Okay, I'm done now.

We visited following the positive reviews. This small and informal restaurant is family run and freshly homemade food is on the menu. We spent an enjoyable and relaxed evening with our two picky daughters. Great pizza and don't forget the gorgeous cheesy garlic bread to start which is homemade. Service is prompt but the food is fresh so be prepared to wait for it. A great evening and we shall definitely be returning.

I chose to eat here based on the reviews from T.A. and was not disappointed! Really beautiful food served by warm and friendly staff. No rush, very reasonably priced and all so relaxed. I like that this is a small ish venue, the lay out is very good so great for couples as well as big groups. The food is presented well and portions are great. I am so glad to have visited.
