Back in 1957ish I had my first flavoured pack of cheese and onion crisps in the pub on top of Birling gap, it was a WOW moment. Now in 2017 the pub has evolved into a national trust place with a very popular restaurant. After a windswept walk taking in the stony Birling gap beach we retired to the restaurant where we tucked into warming baked potatoes followed by coffee. Then we walked around the shop and into the museum. We found all staff more than happy to talk about the changes to the area and tales of the past including those of local smugglers. It was a great visit. We were hoping to drive along the coast road to Beachy Head but the fog on that day was too thick, so another visit will have to take place

We didn't want to drive to Dover so we came to Birling Gap to see the 7 sisters. The museum was very interesting and I was amazed at how far the cliffs had receeded. Staff were very knowledgeable.

I like that they had a stairway to get down to the beach. It is rocky but beautiful.

Hiker's paradise. Scenic vistas of the seven sister's chalk hills by England's Jurassic coast in East Sussex. On a clear day from the highest cliff you can see the French coast across the English Channel.
It is accessible via public transport but you can drive there as well. Although it is perfect picnic spot, I would not suggest it due to strong gusty winds. Please be careful about pets and kids. Adults please don't do too close to the edge as these are soft chalk hills that are constantly being eroded by the elements.

We knew it would be something special but we weren't expecting this! Wonderful waterways with heron, egret, geese, swans and in the grasslands, skylarks! And this was before we even got to the cliffs. A good walk, with an icecream to finish! What a day!!

I visit Birling Gap very often as the views are superb and the setting is very pleasant. The café serves the usual fare but I feel it is rather on the expensive side. My mother wanted a tiny pot of jam to go with her scone. That was an extra £1 !!! Having said that, it is always warm and comfortable and a good place to rest and take in the crashing waves and white cliffs.

Visited Beachy Head, Belle Tout lighthouse and the National Trust visitors Centre. Well worth the trip. The small centre shows pictures and other information about the damaging impact of the sea and waves on the cliff and house lost as a consequences. Although small it is good for children. We learnt much from the visit as we have seen significant changes in our lifetime let alone over the past couple of years.

What an amazing place. A wooden stairway to the haven, where people have been known to sunbathe without clothes. It was cold when we were there,so stayed wrapped up but breathtaking. The cliffs so dramatic.
Great cafe, easy car parking, and not too crowded. Well worth the visit.
Memorable,and those cliffs...amazing.

There was a gale force wind when we arrived so a short visit. Brilliant views along the beach to the cliffs, tea room, toilets, paid for car parks. Good purpose built viewing point for photos.

super place for stretching ones legs it's a National Trust site so pay to park and does get crowded even on the worst weather days, BUT there is a great NT cafe there which serves great snacks and coffee and enjoy Beachy Head just watch for the idiotic suiciders ending their life by jumping (or driving off the cliff) AND PLEASE DON'T GO AND DO SELFIES ON THE CRACKED EDGE OF THE CLIFFS, HUGE LUMPS HAVE FALLEN ALREADY DON'T GO WITH THEM.

We watched the huge waves crash on the each and then walked along to the Beachy head pub. It was great fun. There is a good exhibition on in the national trust place too and the gift shop is very good in the national trust place too. Even for those who don't like walking (like my boyfriend and I) it's definitely worth doing!

I paused at Birling Gap for an ice cream during the Seven Sisters walk. You can get more substantial fare id you want.

Very nice display of the history of the Seven Sisters and the effects of erosion on the shoreline. Pebble beach with popular headland walk.

Excellent for walking either on the cliffs or the beach. Watch out for tide time though. Can walk from here to Cuckmere Valley or Beachy Head, Stay away from the cliff edge however.

This is a fantastic place for beach combing, kayaking, swimming, walking and picnicking. I have visited this place in a range of different weathers and it is even exciting in a gale force wind, particularly when watching from the café! lovely view and the perfect location for everything from a relaxing day by the sea to an action-packed adventure.

I always wanted to have a good look at Seven Sisters, the white cliff, at a proper place. And I think I found the place. Here, Birling Gap. It's got a cafe to relax(very important), a shop and a museum kind of place where you can learn about the clif and the nature around it. You can even go down to the sea level and touch the white cliff. So cool.

It was a beautiful sunny day but so windy it was hard to walk along the cliff path and fully appreciate this natural wonder, we made it to East Dean and back but intended to return in calmer weather to fully appreciate the coastal path.

It was a recommendation from a Londoner. And what a marvelous one! Though we visited on a windy day, we got mesmerized by the stunning view of the cliffs and the English Channel at sunset (so everyone don't forget to bring your cameras along).

It can be easily reached by train from Victoria Station in London, to the lovely town of Eastbourne then you can ride a taxi from Eastbourne Train Station till Birling Gap (it's more or less a 15-min ride).

This place is brilliant.
It's never daunted by dog walkers, tourists, local ladies that lunch. It's a fab place. Whether you need comfy settees or wooden chairs, full lunch or cake and tea, it covers all needs.
My favourite is the cheese scone. Sets me up for the walk back!

A nice walk along the cliffs, the weather was sunny and we spent a great time. The walking tour in the park before arriving at the beach was wonderful. I loved this landscape.

This is a very nice area on the ocean, if you don't have a car the hop on and hop off bus from Eastbourne water front stops here as well
You can take nice walks around the hole area, and sit down in the cafe for a drink afterwards.
There are nice views and you can shoot some really nice photos.
Unfortunately it was very windy when we where there but we still took the stairs down to the beach looking for fossils.

They also have a little shop with a variety of stuff.
Nice family trip, but with smaller children I would be careful with the cliffs.
Also very nice area for people with dogs.

Parked at Birling Gap National Trust car park and walked east to the Seven Sisters (managed 4 of them) and then turned back. Toilets there and a cafe (but I didn't try it)

When the tide is out it's a nice walk along the beach to stand under the towering cliffs and look up at them.

3 miles west will get you to Beachy Head.
