Love the views. Lovely cafe with awesome cheese scones, great staff and dog friendly so perfect for after a walk with the dog. Gift shop, local info and of course part of national trust so members enjoy free parking.

Birling Gap offers a car park (payable), a Cafe, toilets and made made stair access down the cliff to the large beach which is great for walking along and photo opportunities.
For the more adventurous, the walks along the Downs to/from here are great.
I did a 7 mile walk starting Cuckmere Haven/Seven Sisters Park along to BG and over to East Dean. For the walk you need sturdy footwear and good physical fitness, but you don't need to be an expert.

Fantastic views. Highly recommended. Toilets on the site and pay and display parking if you are not the National Trust member.

Great visitor centre with an interesting display. Was there on a bright, sunny winters day and took a walk along the beach which is reached via stairs. Very interesting to see how the cliffs have eroded over the years

The café is a tad overpriced, but it is on the top of a cliff with magnificent sea views, so I guess it has cornered the market. It has access via a staircase, onto the beach itself. Adjoining, is the National Trust shop, which is packed full of buyable items and quirky bits. Altogether a lovely place to visit.

Birling Gap, what can i say, the white chalk cliffs are just amazing. The Cafe on the edge of the cliff had a wonderful display about the creation of the cliffs all those millions of years ago plus a world war TWO display to give you an insight into Beachy head and its use during the conflict. But the Cliffs, just wonderful.

Fascinating and friendly visitor centre showing the rate of coastal erosion. Also serves yummy food and drink. You can't get to the beach unless you use the stairs.

visited this in the summer, the restaurant is now very close to the cliff edge. any more storms like last year, will see this building disappear over the cliffs!

The walks from here are just great - either way, up and over to the Cuckmere (or the Exceat I think it's also known as), up the way to Beachy Head, or back into East Dene. We like the walk past the little community back towards Cuckmere.
We didn't try the coffee shop, so can't comment

Nature at its best. Sad the future so umcertain. 7 Sisters so great. Move on to Cuckmere and the pub micro brew for lunch.

Now commercialised cafe and carpark but nevertheless an experience not to miss. This coastline is gradually disappearing so take loads of photographs of the area and remaining cottages. Nice beach but you cannot help but be overwelmed and distracted by the history and changing coastline!

Went there instead of Beachy Head. The car park was very very busy. The NT shop was good as was the cafe.

Stopped here on the way to eastbourne with my niece!! I should imagine on a nice day the car park would fill up quickly so get here early however there are other carparks within walking distance! There is a nice little cafe here which is perfect after a long walk along the cliffs. The beach is stones but is beautiful and the views are stunning! Perfect for walking and blowing away the cobwebs!

This is a very scenic part of the downs with striking views and a nice updated cafe.
It can be very dramatic in the winter months. Go down the steep steps and if the tides right out you can walk along the beach for a good look at the lighthouse and be achy head

My wife and I spent an interesting morning walking on the beach at Birling Gap and up and over the cliff path to Belle Touts lighthouse (now a B&B). The National trust shop and café is an interesting place to visit if only to see the markings on the floor where they expect the cliffs to be in future years. The cakes in the cafe were fresh very enjoyable. This must have been an interesting place when it was a hotel.

It took me far too long for my first visit here. Such a beautiful place.

An easy stroll from the car park to the beach is lovely and the view from the cliff is just stunning.

Excellent view and a very relaxing walk along the cliffs. Just please be careful not to fall over as there are no fences.

The scenery is amazing with soaring cliffs, a very rocky beach (tough to walk on without shoes), and sweeping downs. Be prepared to walk. And, the car park can get very full. Worth the trip.
