There is a tea shop/café here (National Trust I think), which is OK, except for drinks being in paper cups and it's a little "half-cocked". Nice information point, explaining the cliff soil erosion, beautiful views. You can walk here, quite easily, from Eastbourne, stopping, en route, at Beachy Head pub perhaps.

The cafe came to the rescue on a very rainy day
We had spent a lovely sunny day in Eastbourne and we were due to meet family on Beachy head the following day. We woke up to persistent heavy rain and decided to all meet up at The Birling Gap. We have walked from here before so knew the location
(a mile or two from Beach head) The walks are stunning but on this day we had to content with a dash from the car park to the nice warm cafe.
National Trust properties are getting better and better.
We all sat round a large table drank nice coffee, hot chocolate. This is a really good facility with the visitor centre in the same building.
The only fear is that the cliffs erode and the building won't survive. Considering 3 of the cottages opposite have now gone (because of erosion) that's not so far fetched.
Still whilst it remains it gets a thumbs up.

Magical Place, at the low point of the cliffs between Eastbourne and Brighton. Great place to get dropped off and walk the downs back to Eastbourne. It is quite a hike, but well worth the effort.

Its a beautiful beach, I have been there many times. But the cliffs there are very unstable, and I once seen an avalanche happen in front of my very eyes. So for your own safety, stay away from the cliffs.

I walked from Birling Gap to Seven Sisters Country Park.
Postcodes for both Birling Gap BN20 0AB.
Seven Sisters Country Park BN25 4AD.

The walk from Birling Gap to Seven Sisters is just under 4 Miles,
a word of Warning if you are very unfit, you really have to take your time,
Seven Sisters are Seven Giant Hills, so take care and rest often!
Birling Gap is own by the National Trust has plenty of parking.
Toilets and Cafe to buy Food and Drink.
The Walk is amazing, took me an Hour and 30 minutes to Cuckmere Haven, which is the last of the hills, and has a lovely quite beach which backs on to, the Nature Reserve/ Country Park. You can decide for yourself from my pictures that I took. It takes another 35 Minutes to walk from Cuckmere Haven to the Country Park, There are Tearoom there with Toilet facilities.
HERE IS A TOP TIP!!!! If you don't fancy walking back to the Birling Gap. take the X13 Bus on the same side as the Country Park Centre. Head towards Eastbourne, you will need £2.40 to get the Bus back to Birling Gap. They run every Hour, Saturdays which I went was even 35th Minute past the Hour.

First visit since it has been taken over by the National Trust. Greatly improved cafe and shop with friendly staff and the visitor centre was very interesting with photos and videos demonstrating just how much of the cliff has fallen into the sea over the years. Regular visitors should pick up a coffee collectors card which willbe stamped on each visit earning you a free drink eventually. Parking now free here for National Trust members.

A place of interest for all those who are interested in the U.K,s places of natural beauty. The National Trust café that is situated there is also a place that is worth a visit, as is the National Trust shop. The Seven Sisters is also a place of interest,

Walkers love this area. Birling Gap is in the midst of the Sussex cliffs and it is famous for the row of houses which have been gradually disappearing as the land continues to be eroded by the sea. You can see some remains of what were once houses on the stony beach.
The National Trust facilities are excellent now (they were given a complete revamp several years ago) and this place currently seems more popular than ever.
There are easy steps down to the beach.
The car park is large but in our experience the whole place can become uncomfortably crowded at busy times so it is best to visit outside of weekends and holidays.
A lovely place from which to walk along the top of the cliffs to Beachy Head.

Been today, weather lovely. A lovely uphill walk to the lighthouse but away from the cliffs edge (if you have dogs like us) dogs allowed in the trust shop and parts of the cafe. Spectacular views of the cliffs. Facilities immaculate. Less busy than Beachy head and views better in my view. A nice place to relax for a few hours. Will certainly blow off a few cobwebs.

Swim in summer, surf in winter - eat and drink all year! Can get busy on hot days and parking can be an issue at such times.

We didn't have to walk too far from our car to find a nice spot for a picnic, with a great view. The toilets at the nearby visitor's centre were very convenient! Great place to start a walk towards Beachy Head.

Most people stop at Beachy Head, yes nice but The Place to go to is 3 more mile from BeachyHead. Dont miss Birling Gap. You can see the cliffs for miles and miles, a nice cafe, museeum, and great walks! Plus you can go down to the beach from a safe metal plattform! FANTASTIC PLACE - GO THERE!

this beach is accessed down a steep set of stairs and at low tide there are rocks and rock pools to explore. One of the adults in our party slipped and fell onto the rocks cutting her head and causing fears of more substantial injury . some one went to ask for aid and a really efficient and friendly member of staff came and escorted us to the restaurant where the hurt person was taken into the office to wait for paramedics and the children given ice cream (free) while we waited. The also kept us fully informed of what was happening. Thank you all very, very much, And to all visiting be careful and wear proper shoes to explore.

Nice area to visit! Ideally positioned for walks along Beachy Head. Lovely ice cream available. Lots of parking but does tend to get full up at weekends.

The coastal setting, salt in the air and white cliffs make this an awesome spot to visit with the family, but dress for the weather and expect a lot of wind. Sturdy shoes will help on low tide days as the rocks can be very sharp. - not an ideal spot to go swimming.

Do walk along the beach or the clifftops :-)

You park your car and can decide if to start your walk or to visit the lovely pub, with its pleasant sheltered garden. Have a coffee and breakfast or a cream tea, both will be good. Eventually that walk will have to be done, but it is a pleasant easy walk and as you get closer to the beach the smell of the sea increases, giving you more energy.
Enjoy the steep cliffs and if you want more exercise, walk up the walking trail to the top an look over the great expanse of sea. Look to your right and you can see cottages that have been there for many years but which these will soon claim.

This is a great place to visit if you are in the area. It is amazing to see how the cliff face has moved back over the years, eating up the terrace of houses.

Talking of eating, the cafe provides excellent light meals for those walking the Seven Sisters.

Lovely place with excellent information boards as you would expect of the National Trust. One of the iconic sites of southern England, and the walk along the white chalk cliffs of the Severn Sisters is a must do. Walk the other way towards the old lighthouse to see Beachy Head

Large car park, very good visitor centre, and a good cafe. Very busy though, even on a windy and not very warm May saturday. Not for those who want to get away from it all.
