Lovely views with many interesting cliff walks. Run by the National Trust so parking free if a member. Small cafe for light lunches and snacks. Very steep steps to get to the beach but worth the effort.

A car park, toilets, Visitor Centre and Café - and so much more. This one of the fastest eroding stretches of coast in England and one of the most beautiful. Face the sea and to the west you see the Seven Sisters, rising and dipping their way down to Cuckmere Haven. To the left, out of sight beyond Belle Tout lighthouse, stands Beachy Head. The Visitor Centre has a small, but interesting display which, amongst other things, brings home the extent to which the sea has eaten into the cliffs, undermining the Coast Guard cottages, many of which have fallen to the beach below over recent years. The steps down to the beach, which at my last visit, were quite close to the cliff edge, are now reached by a bridging platform. The car park makes a perfect starting point for walks along the cliffs or back inland over Went Hill to the pretty village of East Dean. Or, you can spend the day lazing on the pebble beach. I am not sure about bathing there - the waves were crashing in and I understand there can be difficult currents. Certainly, in the past this was an infamous area for ship wrecks and it would be wise to take advice before bathing. It is an ideal area for walking. About once an hour, some of the Eastbourne to Brighton buses take the loop away from the inland road to link East Dean, Birling Gap and Beachy Head, allowing walkers an easy return journey, if necessary.

Walked to here from Beachy Head. Had a lovely tea at the NT cafe above - can highly recommend. Then descended to the beach for some stone throwing. Really enjoyable - a perfect summers day out. Watch out for the wasps at the cafe.

Definitely worth the journey. A great spot for photography and an excellent tea shop. We used the coastal hop on hop off bus service from Eastbourne. Taking in Beachy Head and the Birling Gap was an excellent choice.

With typical National Trust style and attention to detail in their centre, we enjoyed a break from our walk from Eastbourne, in the cafe with a beer and sandwich, after visiting the historical & environmental exhibition focused on the steady erosion of this coast by the sea - noting the line across the floor predicting where the cliff will be in 2048!! Small second-hand bookshop, always a treat. Final component was a brief foray down and onto the beach to view the cliff and see the waves.

This is a lovely safe walk for famillys and dog walkers alike , its has a path of you can walk across fields , dogs can rumage around and be quite safe although may get wet if they like a dip . When you get to the beach if it is low tice you can cross to the otherside and if its rough its thrilling on a windy day , take money for the car park .

Beautiful scenery and part of the Seven Sisters. There is a very nice cafe on the cliff edge serving up various teas, scones and delicious cakes; the view is stunning too. Don't forget to pop into the National Trust heritage centre and find out a bit about the history of this remarkable area which is literally crumbling away at the rate of almost a metre a year.

The NT have made a good job of renovating the old Birling Gap Hotel. It is now a restaurant and visitor centre. The restaurant is not up to usual NT standard, poor layout, tables not cleared and slow service at till.

Birling Gap has the most fantastic coastal views, plus a good variety of flora & fauna, which in turn attracts butterflies, including the elusive 'Blues' It is a part of the South Downs National Park with a strong National Trust presence. However the cafe lets the area down and is sadly inadequate for the number of visitors. Visit enjoy the location but take a picnic.

I've always wanted to do this visit not least the place sounds like a German Prog Rock band. It was a lovely day, blue sky's and a fantastic walk. Will go back again and would love to the walk in the winter. There's plenty of space , so although busy it didn't seem that way

This beautiful bay tucked into The South Downs National Park has a good National Trust restaurant and visitors centre showing both the history and ongoing work of the Trust. Lovely walks and views and also a quiet clean beach. Plenty of activities organised the the Trust for all the family.

We decided to get off the open top tour bus here and stay for an hour until the next bus came. We had a tasty snack in the tea room, walked down to the beach which was magical and enjoyed the view and the early evening sun on the South Downs. The tea room and gift shop are pleasant and what you come to expect from the National Trust.

Nice cafe run by the National Trust. A welcome rest if walking the Seven Sisters. Decent sandwiches, Fentimans Ginger Beer, good scones! Can get very busy so be prepared for a long queue!

The views along the cliffs are stunning and this is a set off point for many a cliff top walk. There is a car park for which a charge is made. There is also a good café. A set of steps will get you onto the beach which is made up of pebbles with rock pools for children to explore at low tide. Not really suitable for swimming. Everyone should be warned that the chalk cliffs are gradually eroding and some of the coast guard cottages have already fallen into the sea. Indeed there was a much bigger fall of the cliffs this last winter.

The place is very nice though you can find many people there at once. You can walk there or go by bus.
