The National Trust has invested in this cafe and it is a definite improvement. The indoor and outdoor seating areas are very pleasant, we enjoyed popping into the NT shop (although it's not cheap!) and we look forward to the new visitors centre opening next year. Of course, the views remain the same and are just FABULOUS!

Birling Gap has a beautiful view to the west of white curving cliffs - the Seven Sisters. Lovely little beach to take the steps down to. The well stocked shop and cafe has many interesting gifts.

Good place to stop if you need a toilet and a great vantage point to see down the coastline and the chalk cliffs. The cafe and shop are run by the national trust and the prices of food, drink and gifts were outrageously high.

A different aspect looking at Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters cliffs from sea level in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Arrived here, after a long walk along the clifftop, with some trepidation. Previous reports had been mixed. Pleasantly surprised to get a well cooked light lunch reasonably priced and promptly served.

Owned by the National Trust and just a few miles from Beachy Head. There is a viewing platform from where one sees the extent of the majestic white cliffs.

Birling Gap is well worth a visit for an hour or a day – pay for parking unless you are a National Trust member. There are terrific views along the coast, the Seven Sisters, Beachy Head and inland to the South Downs. Beach access is down a bunch of steps to a pebble beach – surprisingly popular.
There are great walks along the South Downs Way either west towards Cuckmere Haven and east to Beachy Head and the lighthouses. We did both directions and they are terrific but be aware that there is no shade or shelter so you are exposed on sunny hot days or wet and windy days. We hiked from BG to Cuckmere Haven, along the Cuckmere and back via Exceat (nice new visitor center with toilets) and Friston to the Tiger Inn at East Dean for lunch and then back to the car at Birling Gap – a decent hike of about 8 miles.
The café at the Birling Gap is basic with renovations underway for an expanded visitor center. Great for ice cream, snacks and tea/soda.
Birling Gap is a great place and well worth a repeat visit.

breathtaking scenery, but be prepared to walk some hilly terrain- We suggest walking up the hill to Friston church from East Dean and then down through Crows Link to the downs and then back towards Birling Gap and the light house and then head back to East Dean -buy a lunch to take in East Dean before you leave, as the Birling Gap cafeteria is a bit disappointing

This is a great place to stop if you're walking the Seven Sisters, and it's a useful refuge if the weather turns bad. The National Trust provide a wealth of local finds for visitors to see and the cafe is nicely stocked. It's also a good escape point on walks as there is a bus service.

No one manning the ice-cream counter on a hot day at lunchtime? Not good for business. This restaurant now run by the National Trust is ten times better than the previous very unpleasant refreshment venue.

Location is unique and parking good although well attended on high days and holy days!
Wind whistled at top of stairs down to beach but wonderfully calm at beach level. Kids enjoyed it enormously.

This café is now owned by the Nation Trust, therefore we were disappointed to find that there was very little available in the café, hardly any cake and we had to ask for the menu. We both had cold drinks and when asked for a glass was told "they are on the shelf", where we found only wine glasses so had to use those instead.

Then views are amazing and walks in the surrounding area are well worth exploring, remember to take change for the car park as you have to pay!

Birling Gap has been taken over by The National Trust & now the cafe & facilities are much better. You have to pay to park unless you are a NT member so remember to take some change. The steps down to the beach have recently been replaced but still steep (for obvious reasons) The views of Seven Sisters are wonderful whatever the weather & whether stormy or tranquil you get a different feeling each time you visit. Well worth seeing

National Trust cafe and shop provide quality refreshments and gift opportunities. Steps down to the beach, it was so much warmer down there that up the top!!
Parking is pricey everywhere round here, but here you have other services

Spent a couple of hours on a gorgeous sunny day. Really nice and not bustling or chokka. Would have spent longer but we weren't prepared for a the sand unlike Eastbourne Beaches!
Checked out the other facilities this visit. Everything very clean. Plenty of Loos, parking nice cafe and shop.
A nice visit.

It was a very hot sunny day so we walked down to the beach. Woops, naturists sunbathing - fair do's to them. We didn't have time. We had a good wander along the beach it was a lovely afternoon spent with friends.

I often stop at the hotel run by the National Trust as a tea room but it always seems to be a work-in-progress with lots of scaffolding and workmen about. The food is good but quite expensive for meals. A cuppa and scone about five pounds. Needs further updating and bring back the banquettes instead of odd chairs.

At low tide you can see some sea animals. We were lucky enough to see starfish.
There's always danger at cliffs.

Wonderful view of the seven sisters. We arrived while it was a bit cloudy, but when the sun came out the white cliffs appeared in all their splendour. And the landscape is absolutely beautiful - don't forget to take a walk along the edge of the cliffs.
