At Birling Gap you can descend the cliffs via steps and get on to the shingle strand. Or you may choose to walk east or west on the 7 Sisters. Head west for a great view of Cuckmere Haven. You can have a cuppa or something stronger in the cafe. Afterwards enjoy the drive to Eastbourne

Fantastic location with views along the Seven Sisters towards Cuckmere Haven.
Best to arrive on foot or by bus because you may well get carried away with the walks from here and the National Trust car parks are pay and display - and quite expensive.

One of the most underrated and stunning views in Sussex. Very windy in March but lovely in summer. views are breath-taking. If you continue along the Eastbourne road you get a view of the river meandering out to the sea. you can stop and park if you wish to walk the course of the river. Recomended

This is our favourite East Sussex beach - there's some sand when the tide is out. The rock pools make it interesting in all weathers and the view of some of the Seven Sisters makes it a stunning location. National Trust parking charges apply in the nearest car park, but it is free to park across a road in a field. Don't sit too close to the cliff - there are occasional rock falls! Nudists use the far west end of the beach - not normally near enough to spoil the view!
There are well-kept toilets in the car park and a cafe - but we always take a picnic.

still blowing a gale. The coast guards do a simulated rescue every sunday about 11am,very interesting and had a running commentary but the helicopter not used because of wind, national trust there, plenty of flint for napping

Easy walking up to the old lighthouse from the car park. Very good cafe. Sandwiches and cakes made on the premises but service a bit slow at busy times.

The wind can always be a problem along the coast, Birling gap is well protected and good on the odd sunny day for a beach trip. When the surfs up, you can catch a few good waves.

A nice peaceful place. Never go there when the crowds are there. Otherwise, very very pleasant. There is a great sheep farm close by which is well worth a visit.

The view over the sea is simply breath-taking. The food at the Nationsal Trust restaurant is OK, certainly adequate for walkers. Parking is free for National Trust members.

Birling gap offers a pleasant pause between the exertions of walking the Severn Sisters and the climb towards Beachy Head.

The National Trust tea room and bar offers stunning food in an amazing location.

Even on a dull and windy day the site is a sun trap and well sheltered, I’ve had a very pleasant meal sitting outside in late November here before

Beach very stony, but interesting cliffs. Nice cafe run by the National Trust, free toilets. Parking easily, but walking not for the feint hearted

This place provides superb views to all aspects of the coast. Nice for a walk on top of the cliffs or sunbathing on the beach on the bottom. Nice place for who likes to explore nature and breathe a bit of fresh sea air. I would not recommend this place in a windy day, it can be quite annoying.
Definitely worth a visit. As I am a National Trust member, the car park was free, not sure how much it is normally for other visitors. In my opinion is a place to spend no more than 2 hours unless you just want to read a book enjoying the nature.

This is a nice drive over the downs to this beauty spot . You will be able to see how the sea is eroding the cliff andthe houses that once stood well back from the cliff face . at least one has gone and for the others it is only a matter of time before they surcome to the same fate . There is a nice cafe and a toilet block and of coarse the view .

When visiting Eastbourne do a detour via the scenic route to Beachy Head and on to Birling Gap. Stop for tea/coffee at the newly acquired National Trust tea-room and enjoy a delicious scone or cake. The newly decorated tea area is light and bright and has the most superb view. On your way to your car (or number 12A bus) take a photo of the notoriously famous Birling Gap.

Much improved since National Trust taken over...only average facilities and services but staff pleasant...prices above average for exprience.Diabolical car parking and disabled access.

There's no much there - £4 for parking seemed like a waster of money for a five minute view. There didn't appear to be anywhere to walk - if you didn't want a coffee/tea and it was too early for wine/beer - what are you going to do???

Another great place discovered with thanks to National Trust membership
Photographers must love this place - the views of the Cliffs are terrific, tho it's very windy.
We were there on a Sunday and fortunately the sun was shining and the car park was full. We saw a free bus service delivering people ... if you can find out about this service and park'n'ride it would be much better.

You get a much better view of the white cliff faces here than you do when you visit Dover. Rocky beach as a you come to expect in the UK, but plenty of walking options available including hiking along the cliff faces. Parking can get difficult on those warm sunny days, as plenty of people use the beach.

Not a lot to do there but its a nature spot. It has a cafe but you need a car to get there although there is a bus service.

Who cares that the tea is not the cheapest in the land but at £3.40 for a pot for two and views to die for, well enough said.
