The view over the cliffs is gorgeous! Don't get too close to the edge as there are absolutely no safety measures! The beach looked inviting but we didn't go down there

Ideally situated, half way between everywhere, it catches all passing trade (most of which is on foot). A NT property so members qualify for discounts (so bring your card with you). Basic cafe fare with interesting additions - and some 'speciality' nights. It tries harder than most sea-side places .. and it succeeds !

I visited Birling Gap 3 days. Had coffee and cake in the cafe there and one day went on the beach. It is a magical location with the 'Seven Sisters' to the West and the beginning of Beachy Head to the East. Visited there via the open-top bus or the shuttle bus which runs during the Air Show.

Just loved this place-incredible views from the steps leading down to the pebble beach. Had a walk along the beach and the cliffs are just mighty impressive when viewed from ground level.
Son (13) had a whale of a time picking over pebbles and chucking them into the sea. Well worth a visit if you are in the area-got some beautiful photographs

The Seven Sisters are one of the most iconic places on the South Coast. Ideal for lovers of nature particularly walkers and those interested in birds, butterflies and wild flowers. Birling Gap is nestled in the folds of The Seven Sisters Country Park and a good place to park and enjoy the surrounding countryside and spectacular scenery. If you just want things to do then go down the road to Brighton. See also my review on Birling Gap National Trust Cafe.

Birling Gap is a stop on the tourist route for coaches. Busy noisy dusty carpark (does have toilets for a plus point). Stony beach is ok but always packed when I have been there. Pub is not to my liking - again packed with kids and tourists (sorry tourists but do not like you on mass). Not my cup of tea I am afraid

Nature at its best. Wild & rugged especially on a windy day. Good Cream Teas in the restaurant.

Cafe was good. It is a good place to start your walk either to Beachy Head or along the seven sisters. Car park was good value at £2 for 4 hours

This is a very lovely location perched at the base of the Sussex Downs and a stone's throw from the Belletoute Lighthouse. Steps lead down to the beach and there are pathways up onto the downs. The views from the top are just amazing. The National Trust Cafe is very clean with plenty of seating both inside and out. Food is rather on the expensive side but is good quality and nice fresh cakes and scones. Certainly worth a visit, especially on a warm sunny day.

Great place to experience the cliffs of the Seven Sisters, walks in each direction. Amazing walk from B.Gap to Cuckmere Valley across the Seven Sisters, a bit steep in places but well worth the effort for the views across the cliffs and out to sea. Bus from Exceat (13x) brings you back to B.Gap unless you're really energetic! Recommended.

Easy to get to the beach, which makes you realise how huge the cliffs are. I grew up in an area with acid soils, so flint and chalk are fascinating to me.

Birling Gap is well worth a visit but can be very windy , but you can retreat to the hotel for hot drinks or something stronger !! When the tide is out you can walk on the beach but when the tide turns it comes in very quickly. The hotel grounds have eroded over the last few years the hotel lawn used to be very long but the sea has taken it.

Just a walk along from Beachy Head is where you can get the best views of the Beachy Head lighthouse as well as the Belle Tout the cliff edge is sheer and you need to walk with care as it is not fenced. Beautiful views out to sea.

It is a great place with an amazing view. However, this attraction is very much related to the weather and the sea tide. You can have a great walk when the tide is low but otherwise there is not much to do, other than watching the great view of 7 sisters for few minute or having something in the cafe which offers nice food.

To be that close to coastal erosion and feel safe was a real experience - it makes you think about how real and 'live' the environment is, The actual place does not look pretty but is well worth a visit as it shows what the elements do to the coastline - amazing to think that houses can just fall in to the sea!

The whole area surrounding the Birling Gap is absolutely breathtaking. The scenary is fabulous, there are loads of quaint country villages and friendly country pubs. Miles and miles to walk and explore as well as a gorgeous coastal road to drive along.

In the middle of a long stretch of the coastal path between Eastbourne and Brighton. Provided well needed refreshments to many walkers as very few other places on this stretch of the coast.
Food wasn't very hot but plentiful and good tasting. Hot drinks only just hot enough so had to finish up quickly.
Simple fare, nice cakes, good value.
