The hotel was nicely trimmed for Christmas, but the actual decor was a little tired. There are 2 lifts, one of which is so tiny you can just about get 2 people in, if carrying anything, so unless you fancy walking up, you can wait a while. We opted for a superior room. It was a big room, with a sea view. It had tea/coffee making facilities and spare pillows. Bathroom was nice and spacious too, with an effective shower (in bath). Nowhere to hang wet towels though. We had breakfast and evening meal. Breakfast was very good, buffet style, but you could order from a menu too, dinner was ok, but the portions were tiny. It suited me as I was dieting. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. The evening entertainment was good fun too. I'd recommend a few days here, but make sure you book with shearings, as a couple we met who didn't, seemed not to be treated quite so well (ie couldn't book car parking and didn't have an allocated meal table).

We went for our first shearings holiday 4Day break, the food and staff very good,But our room no 202 was cold, the windows need to be replaced howling gale blowing in,also the bathroom was like being in a fridge NO HEATING, and had to walk down steps to it.We asked to change to another .room but none available,We will not be going back. Our friends room 201 No heat in main room had to ask for portable heater, needs the manager to get this sorted.

another good weekend has a upgrade room with sea view worth the extra cost. as usual ALL the staff are first class nothing is to much trouble. we noticed the size of portions at dinner time they seem to be getting smaller instead of cutting cost on the food just put a couple of quid on the price for the stay. hotel is in a prime spot for the shops . we took the bus number 12x to Brighton it goes through some very pretty villages and towns . the bus stop is a very short walk from the hotel just by the pier .hope to visit again next year.

We booked a last minute holiday to the Burlington and found it was to be a ‘Turkey and Tinsel’ Break.

As it was a last minute booking the choice was either a Standard Room or Standard Plus Room without sea view, so we paid extra to have the Plus Room. There was a mirror over the desk/ dressing table and a full length mirror also which is very nice to have both so well situated. The Room was large, clean, recently redecorated and refurnished, and had a modern shower room (no bath). The bed was a standard double size and the room was huge, it would have been a good idea to put a large double bed in this room as it was a Plus Room at an extra charge otherwise all we paid the extra for was the new decorations.

Unfortunately the floor boards were very squeaky as were the ones in the room above. I would have thought that when the new carpets were laid, the floor boards would have been repaired. There were plenty of plug sockets which are always an advantage. The towels were not replaced daily even when put in the bottom of the shower, I complained to reception and they arranged for fresh towels to be sent to our room immediately.

The food and service in the dining room was very good. Breakfast is self-service with lots of choice and plentiful. Dinner is served from 6.30 we went about 7 to 7.15 when it’s less busy.

There is entertainment every evening and bingo is extremely popular with very high cash prizes.

The Bar Staff are great – there was no ‘drinks package’ in our ‘Turkey and Tinsel’ break and we found the drinks expensive.

There is no Wi-Fi in the bedrooms only in the lounge areas.

We were pleased to see that the hotel had vastly improved since our last visit in 2009, but there are still some areas in need of attention. The corridors are shabby and badly in need of refurbishment as are the lifts. There were four coach parties and self-drive customers in this hotel during our five day stay and if that happens every week, the hotel must take some keeping up to.

The hotel is well situated right on the sea front overlooking the pier and carpet gardens. If you want to take a day trip to Brighton the 12X bus stops by the Pier and the 99 bus to Hastings and Bexhill stops on the opposite side of the road by the Queens Hotel. Ask at reception for the bus times and also a street plan for Eastbourne
.
Our thanks to the staff who are very pleasant, efficient and work very hard.

Overall, we enjoyed our pre-Christmas break.

Arrived on Monday 27th November hotel was clean and tidy, we had room 327 the heating didn’t work and the toilet wouldn’t flush when we told reception we were told we could have a room at the majestic,we refused because we were a party of 8, so they got maintenance to repair the toilet the next day ,and was given a heater, the dining room was a complete shambles food cold ,foreign waiters/ waitress’es didn’t understand english, asked for 1 thing and u got another ,service was shocking, the entertainment was ok, no room on dance floor due to staff using it ,

Just returned from a two day break. Hotel old but in very good position overlooking the pier and gardens. Nice clean room comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Staff very friendly especially Dionne on reception. The only disappointing thing was the food and service, waited 20 mins on the first morning to get a cup of tea and very little choose of hot food. Second day better service and food, All in all an enjoyable break, well worth paying extra for a sea view room.

Our trip to the Burlington Hotel Eastbourne was excellent although the hotel was in need of refurbishment in places this did not distract from a very enjoyable stay. We did upgrade to a premier sea view room which was well worth the extra, the meals were plentiful and well presented our waitress very good. You are situated right by the pier and minutes from town centre with many shops and only a 10/15 mins drive to Seven Sisters Park a must see with its magnificent views . Would defiantly recommend

Came with Shearings, paid small price. Yes hotel is old but is being refurbished. Our bedroom fine, bathroom old but did work and plenty hot water. The breakfasts were fine and dinner ok. The waiting staff were cheerful and hardworking - restaurant manager take note! If you want fine dining then pay fine dining price, otherwise accept what you have paid for.

Just got back yesterday from the Burlington 5 day turkey and tinsel with shearings this was our first coach break and enjoyed the few days , I would like to point out a couple of things on your first day you are picked by feeder coach as we were from Oxford and taken to a services o the M1( London gateway ) where you will have to wait until all the other coaches arrive from all over to that central point you will then be allocated your coach for your onward journey I just mention this as this is your first day and by the time you get to your hotel it is late afternoon , however we had a lovely driver James who was very helpful and very noligable telling us of all the places of interest on the way on arrival at the hotel it was very quick to check in and we had mulled wine reception we upgraded our room and it had been refurbed so that was very good (313 ) , But I am sorry to say the food was not good and so we went hungry on a few occasions I feel Shearings real need to look at the food as it lets them down badley at breakfast you can find something if it is only toast but things like the bacon is disgusting over cooked and burned and the put into a deep hot container where it dries out and cooks even moore not good we were there for 5 days and although the staff in the restaurant were great and despite having to work very hard were always very helpful and always had a smile I can not say the same for the restaurant manager who never even acnolaged anyone not even hello and never a smile what a shame our break was let down by the restaurant I think Shearings need to take a good look at this as everything else was good all the staff very helpful and very hard working I would like to sat a special thanks to Ross who right from our arrival was very helpful and always finding time for a quick chat to make sure we were ok dispite working very hard also izzy who was also very polite and helpful and always very happy
