Nice view to the sea, good and clean standard room. Very rich breakfast. Located in the centre of the city. Just, be aware, that this hotel (and seem whole city of Eastbourne) is dedicated to geezers. You have to wait at reception and hear our thousands of complaints... But still a good place to stay, I recommend.

Had to change my room on arrival, as the bathroom had a big step going up to it! Certainly not good for an OAP, even a young one like me. New room was ok, had a shower the next day and got locked in the shower!! Couldnt open the door as there was just a small knob, no handle, and my hands were slippery and wet. Took ages to dry my hands enough to escape, but that was not a good experience at all. The food at the hotel was absolutely excellent, the entertainment was amazing, just a shame the whole hotel is so so shabby but spotlessly clean. Would I stay here again? Yes probably for the food and entertainment, nothing else.

Stayed in room 312 which was a standard plus. Fantastic room with a sea view. Staff without exception very friendly and efficient . Food varied and plentiful and service in dining room very efficient (Thank you Marta who always delivered the meals with a smile). Buffet breakfast - good idea !. Lovely to have the facility to make your own toast as personally hate having "tepid toast" delivered as soon as you sit down. Always use self drive facility so cannot comment on coach travel. All in all really good value as we have paid double the price elsewhere just for bed and breakfast. Enjoyed it so much we have rebooked a longer break later in the year.

I have just come back from a 3 night stay at the burlington hotel. Myself and hubby went there to recharge our batteries which is what we did. The staff were so friendly and the hotel guests! There is a lovely coffee lounge and seating area to sit in and relax. Entertainment on most nights and the hotel is located nearby to the pier and shops etc.
The food is plentiful and tasty but you may have to wait to be served by the waiter as he's run off his feet serving guests.
My slight gribble is the disco music comes thumping up the ceiling on the 1st floor. So if you go to bed at 11.pm don't expect it to quieten down until midnight.
But all in all a fab time. Will we be back you bet!

Stayed for one night (on a jolly). Requested sea-view when ordering a standard room and were pleasantly surprised to get one. View was lovely! Didn't use the bar or restaurant or entertainment so can't comment. We had the usual fare in the local Weatherspoon's (Cornfield) and went to The Crown and Anchor to watch a local band.

We stayed fur nights at the Burlington with self-drive Shearings. W e paid extra for a twin room with sea view. The room was large with a rather old fashioned en-suite. I found it difficult to work out how to work the shower, but a maintenance man was sent up straight away to show me. The mattresses were not good, and I requested replacements but was told they did not have any, but we could have a topper. We ended up putting our spare pillows under the mattress. The food was very good, (better than expected) and the entertainment every night was excellent. We would stay here again. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and Eastbourne is lovely. Car parking is available at £5 per night, and well worth it.

Just got back from Eastbourne staying at The Burlington Hotel which is one of Shearings own, went with five friends. My room was on second floor at the end of the building we had a side view of the sea front, room was clean had been updated we had a television tea and coffee there if we wanted. We all sat together in the restraunt, breakfast was self service no complaints with the food. There was bingo at night followed by entertainment and I must mention the compare MARK SNOW he was a reallygood entertainer had a good voice and a great sense of humour all in all we had a really great time at this hotel and what made it great we had great weather.

We visited the Burlington Hotel on a standard Shearings 5 day coach holiday (8-12th May 2017). The hotel is right on the sea front almost opposite the pier. The public areas are very well maintained but as is often the case our particular bathroom was a bit "tired" and in the small bath the shower curtain clings to you - not a very pleasant sensation. The bedroom however was spacious and the beds were the best we had slept in in any hotel. The breakfast was a buffet with plentiful stock of very well cooked items. Other meals were fairly standard Shearings fare but served by very pleasant waiting staff. The hotel location is excellent with just a short walk into town. Would be happy to stay there again but hope to get a proper shower cubicle,

The room we had was in need of a refurbish, wallpaper peeling, bathroom toilet cracked, shower very poor, the food in the dining was poor, the meat came u and was cold time you got the vegetables, we have been going for the last 3 years I am afraid, we are looking elsewhere for next years reunion, I thought shearing holiday hotel where supposed to be good, very disappointed

We have recently stayed at this hotel as part of a 5 day Shearings holiday. The overall experience was real value for money. We did not pay for an upgrade and our room was at the back of the hotel. It was perfectly adequate for our needs and was also nice and quiet. The buffet breakfast selection, both hot and cold, ensured that we all had a good start to the day. The evening meal was waitress service and there was plenty of choice within the menu. The food was well cooked and also delicious. The location of the hotel is superb. Evening entertainment was provided. The lifts and also toilets on the ground floor were quite scruffy but otherwise the décor was quite acceptable and much of it has been done recently. We would certainly return to this hotel.

We stayed at the Burlington for a Shearings 5 day break.
We had a good trip down thanks to our driver, Peter, who is a very friendly and jocular chap.
On arrival we were greeted by the general manager, Christine, who came across as friendly, efficient and helpful. Chris gave us an overview of the hotel and stressed that her priority was that we enjoyed our stay. We did not see Chris again during our stay but her influence was evident in the friendly and efficient way the staff carried out their work.
Our room was on the 3rd floor with a great view of the pier almost directly opposite. We had paid extra for the view and for a standard plus room and felt that this had been well worth it. Our room was comfortable, well furnished and clean.
Meals at the hotel were very good and we particularly liked the buffet breakfast which was hot, fresh well cooked and frequently topped up. Evening meals were also very good and we felt that the choices available were adequate for most tastes. The dining room staff were very busy and worked hard. Alexis was our waiter and he was really friendly and efficient and despite the pressure of work he remained friendly and efficient and we were served promptly with our meals which were hot and plentiful.
The bar staff were efficient and friendly and the entertainment was good. My only criticisms, which are common with many hotels, are the price of drinks and that whichever of Shearings hotels we have stayed at the beer and lager are the same no matter what part of the UK we are in. it would be an added bonus if local beers were available on draught rather than the expensive bottled ones.
The reception staff were always friendly and helpful whenever we spoke to them. Worthy of special mention are Dione and Ivone.
There were five coach parties and people who had made their own way to the hotel so it was very busy the staff seemed to carry out their work in a pleasant, cheerful and efficient way and we felt that we were well looked after.
Chris should be very proud of the efficient and friendly team she has and we would certainly have no qualms about staying at the Burlington again. Thank you Chris and team for a very pleasant stay

Room 250 (2nd floor)- L O N G walk from 2 tiny lifts (3 & 4 persons) but well modernised from visit c 4-5 yrs ago. Food good (but didn't like the change to 'self-service' hot food @ breakfast) And those toasters! Well if you like standing in a queue for c 5mins & often getting burnt or underdone toast, it's gr8!! Overall no real complaints - Shearing's give "service" all-the-way, ESPECIALLY their jokey/friendly & very helpful drivers' But surely with their new U.S investment they could improve Gateway interchange facilities. The 'PA' system is worse than that of good old British Rail - maybe the addition of illuminated/computerised signage (as used in GP surgeries/hospitals etc )@ various points around the 'hangar' would be of help to customers & staff alike,

Breakfast buffet was excellent, the chef constantly replenished the food, which was all freshly cooked and hot. A good start to the day is essential to my way of thinking!!
A barrier for the car park would be better than having to disturb the receptionists.
Generally very good value for money.

This hotel is in a great location, not far from the town and other amenities, although the rooms are a little dated they are a good size, Televisions could do with updating, as only able to get a few channels free wifi in the main area, although it would be nice to be able to pick it up in the rooms. Breakfast was good, with a nice mix to choose from, diner was o.k.but not great.

We stayed at the Burlington Hotel last week on 5 day Shearing holiday. There were 4 of us and we had rooms on 3rd floor at the back, we would have preferred rooms at the front however for 4 nights the rooms were adequate kept clean and tidy daily. Tea and coffee topped up daily.
The food was good with choices at main meal and buffet breakfast. I am food intolerant and diabetic however I always found food to eat and enough of it. Our waiter was very good
Kevin our driver was excellent. We paid the extra for the one trip and that was very good with Kevin and Pete on coach. It was a very enjoyable holiday.

I have just booked a four day mid-week break for myself and my Mother at this Hotel in July.

I had pretty exacting requirements, Large room, sea view etc.

I feel I have to write a review about the Lovely receptionists before I forget.

I had to ring the hotel several times to enqluire about rooms. Carla the Receptionist I spoke was not just friendly, she was extremely helpful and polite, even making enquiries with Housekeeping for me, she was much more professional, helpful and polite than any Hotel Receptionist I have spoken to before and that is in many Hotel over many years.. I also spoke to Mary and Yvonne who were both polite, but Carla was the main person I spoke to and a very good Ambassador for the Bay Burlington.
I am now hoping our stay will be good, which I look forward to reviewing in July.

Comfortable room, clean, newly refurbished. Food satisfying, choice of evening meal, very flavoursome. Shearings have now changed breakfast to buffet style rather than being served by waiter/waitress . We do prefer to be served by waitress than having to keep getting up and down from table to collect food and make toast etc. Evening entertainment is always a bonus especially if the weather is poor and for the elderly who prefer to stay inside than walk into the town. Will visit again, thanks for everything

This is a first for us this hotel had amazing staff who couldn't do enough for you really helpful and happy at all time. The food was very good especially the breakfast where you can help yourselves with even the cooked side of things always fresh. Although we had refurbished rooms they were still a little tired looking but no problem as we only wanted to sleep in then all very clean. We had a three night weekend stay and being so close to everything didn't need the car, although we did use it Sunday to visit Michelham Priory which was a beautiful place. Would recommend this hotel.

After a long drive on a very comfortable coach we did not know what to expect when we arrived. The hotel manager came onto the coach to welcome us which was good. We did not have to struggle with cases as the hotel brings them to your room for you.
The room on the 3rd floor had been modernised the beds were comfortable & clean.
Food could not fault it at all (better than some 3/4* hotels abroad) Maria our waitress was lovely and very polite. Mark the entertainer was good fun, in fact all the hotel staff could not be faulted. We chose not to go on the excursion so cannot say what that was like, but just to add our driver Alan was very always polite to all passengers.
Would definitely recommen.

Have stayed several times at this hotel. Standard seems to be declining little by little. Guests signing for self drive holidays need to be careful they are not paying more than those on coach tours.
All areas of hotel are clean and staff are polite and cheerful. Meals are the weak area. Although breakfast is supposed to be available until 0915h if you arrive after about 0850 the hot buffet area is a sorry sight, curly bacon and crunchy sausages with, if are lucky, a rubbery egg.
The dinner menu appears varied and adequate, but quality let's it down and portions are on the small side. A variety of vegetables served everyday but they are usually overlooked to a degree of purée.
The week of my stay the hotel was over warm/hot requiring windows open all day and all night. Radiators were on in the corridors! Windows open at night in front facing rooms means the sound of the sea lulls you to sleep. Unfortunately there has always been a badly fitting manhole cover in the road outside which clunks as cars run over it. This can be a rude awakening. Please get the council to fix it.
