Just returned from this hotel our first time with Shearings and first time at this hotel, our room was overlooking the back of the hotel we were on the 4th floor not a very inviting room décor was very bland and the hotel was painted in gun metal grey everywhere rooms, corridoors, toilets, no warm feelings at all, even the lifts were painted grey small lift only took 2 people and only 4 in the other one the food was very bland not much choice at all we had chicken both nights as I don't like lamb and the batter on the fish looked mushy and after talking to other guest my feelings were justified the soup would have been ok for a baby as it was all pureed down and so thick don't know who the cook was but needed a few cooking lessons. At breakfast we helped ourselves but not much chioice again and were not given a pot of tea or coffee just a mug not very inviting at all we felt as if we were back in the 50s at a holiday camp. Considering this is a shearings hotel I would have expected better this was a 2 day breakaway costing £79 good value you would think but sadly not our room was ok but the radiator in the bathroom didn't work and the radiator in the room was under the window so the room was cold the bed was comfy though, I would not entertain telling my friends to visit this hotel until Shearings get it updated Cannot comment on sea view rooms but guess they could be a little better. I think Shearings have invested in a supply of gun metal paint!!!

Just spent a Christmas break with Shearings. Our first time at the Burlington. We updated to a Sea View Room (319) which was a lovely big room with a shower. Couldn't fault the hotel at all - good food - brilliant entertainment - friendly staff. Would definitely go there again. I do agree with some other comments that the hotel could do with being updated and a makeover although all the Shearings Hotels I have been to need a refurbishment. The only other thing was that the downstairs entertainment area got too hot and perhaps some ceiling fans would make a difference

We have just come back from a fabulous holiday. When we got there given room to far from lift and very cold. I asked if we could move. Not long later Carla came and offered us too new rooms we took 126 at back of hotellovely room step in shower bath twin beds. On floor one. The holiday was great food was too die for put on weight blame the chef. Christine was brilliant and so was her wonderful team. Entertainment was good mark was very good. Booked to go back next year. This hotel is the best you will ever get true value for money. Congratulations to you all lovely caring friendly staff where anything can be sorted if you ask. Love to you all see you next year. Brian Janet joy. Room 126. Oh I forgot our wonderful cleaning lady friendly and did a fantastic job. Thank you.

Visited this hotel about 2 years ago and am now able to see how improvements have continued to all of the rooms at this establishment. This is now a fairly solid 3 star hotel in an excellent location on the seafront close to the Town Centre. My visit was part of a value for money package which included 4 free drinks on the Saturday Evening. All rooms seem have have been upgraded to flat screen TV so this is now standard and any other upgrades relate to the size of the screen. My single room on the fourth floor of the hotel had a side view of the beach at no extra charge. Staff were friendly and unobtrusive. The only negative was that one of their lifts was out of action for the duration of my stay. A little patience was required.

Booked Turkey and Tinsel . Excellent location but declined extra for Seaview room which would have cost £56 extra for 4 nights. Check in smooth and efficient and told where to get our mulled wine on arrival. Also allocated table for meal which was good as hotel was full. Two lifts by reception. One very small although capacity says four you would need to be very good friends to attempt that. Found one with suitcases a struggle. Other lift average size but very busy during our stay. It broke down twice but quickly repaired. Room good size and comfortable. Shower variable temperature at busy times but this is not unusual in hotels this busy. As hotel full generally queues for evening meal but table allocation helpful. Table service for evening meal generally OK with wine waiter to take order. Food generally well presented and average. Breakfast buffet style and plentiful with extras like kippers or poached eggs, yogurt available on request. Evening entertainment excellent by resident host but some cabarets not to everyone's taste. Usual bingo early evening. Bar prices average. Overall excellent value and would happily return. Parking available at extra cost.

Just spent a 5 day break here on a Shearings trip.
Hotel felt a bit tired, especially the Bathroom.
The bedroom was large and clean.
All the staff were excellent, especially the dining room staff.
The food was very good, with a varied choice each evening.
The entertainment was generally good each night.

We recently had along weekend at the Burlington Hotel which we really enjoyed and considered good value for money.(4 free drinks vouchers each on the Saturday) The hotel looks as though it has had some money spent on it recently in refurbishment. Our room which was a Twin bedded must have been one of the largest we have ever stayed in.We thought the Dinning Room was very well laid out and the food was pretty good on the whole although we prefer table service at Breakfast Time (which eliminates the usual scrummage round the Toaster and queue at the food containers) the service overall was not too bad and the staff pleasant enough throughout the hotel. The hotel is right on the sea front opposite the pier.

My parents who are no longer alive loved this hotel. I finally got to visit it.
We sat at the front and drank tea. They were in our thoughts.

The hotel was much bigger than i imagined but it has a real family feeling about it.

My husband and I spent last weekend at the Burlington hotel we had a nice room as requested next to the lift. The food was good especially the breakfast. The staff were very helpful. I left an item in the room when we left on Monday and by Wednesday it had been returned to me by the staff. I was very very impressed. We would stay there again.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were on a Shearings long weekend break. We had upgraded our room and paid for a sea view too. Well worth the extra money as our room was excellent and the view was superb. When we checked in we were given 4 free drinks vouchers each to use all day on the Saturday. Brilliant!
We must say that the hotel reception staff were very helpful, as were the waiters and waitresses in the dining room.
Breakfast was buffet style and the cooked food was hot - not like some places where it is lukewarm! The 3 course evening meal was extremely well presented and cooked to perfection. We thought the food was excellent and there was plenty of it too. We also liked the fact that there were plenty of tables for 2 people.
The only downside was that only one VERY SMALL lift was working. The other one was out of action all the while we were there. We used the stairs each time to get to our room on the 3rd floor but that wasn't an option for the less mobile guests. Hopefully, it will be repaired soon for future use.

When we arrived I was concerned as I had booked for friends as well. The lift and room were well in need of refurbishment. Bed was hard and only 4' 6" Windows rattled. But apart from that everything else was good. The room was clean, staff were very good and friendly. Food for the whole five days was excellent as was our waitress.

This hotel looks directly onto the pier, the location is good. Its well worth getting a room with a sea view.

A lot of coach excursions stay here and I can see why. For retired people the evening entertainment is good. The staff are of mixed nationalities and friendly.

I only ate a breakfast in the hotel, it was plentiful and of a good standard.

The décor in this hotel is tired and appears to be undergoing some modernisation. The stairways still have wood chip on the walls and look rather battered.

There are only 2 lifts in this hotel which are small so there can be a wait during busy times.

If you are using your own transport you may have to parked a couple of hundred yards away in the height of the season. Parking is not free.

I would stay here again purely because the atmosphere is warm and friendly.

Loved it! What can I say fabulous location great hotel, food superb excellent staff. We've been to Shearings Majestic Eastbourne before twice and did enjoy it no complaints. However, the Burlington is so much closer to town and pier for buses and a fabulous hotel too so now our firm favorite. Not that I wouldn't go to the Majestic again or recommend it. First holiday with Shearings since beginning of year and first time we saw self service at breakfast. How much better can it get! Do enjoy having meal served to you at night still though. We didn't see much of the entertainment but seemed ok. At the end of the day there is entertainment and you can choose to go or plenty of seats outside of room to sit even overlooking sea albeit dark at night but still well lit and overlooking pier. Didn't do trips went to Brighton on bus. Sunday Eastbourne was buzzing and a street market on as well. Lots of shops open. Our room was excellent we paid for standard plus (only rooms left) £15 each for the 3 nights but wouldn't normally pay extra as never had bad room yet..

The food was superb, hot and plentiful,The Restuarant staff were friendly and efficient. In fact credit to all the staff for making our stay remember able .Mark Snow the entertainment guy was hilarious and made our evenings such good fun.We will certainly go again.

Room was ok, worth paying for a sea view. Food was ok too. Saturday’s singer was good but we’d go down the town Friday and Saturday if we go back. Some of the corridors in the hotel could do with a lick of paint and a new carpet but no real complaints. The Shearings day trip was ok but we would have liked the option of staying longer in Battle where the Abbey (battle ground of The Battle of Hastings?) is worth visiting but you need a lot longer to justify paying £10. Eastbourne was suprisingly big with most major retail outlets, 2 Weatherspoons and a miriad of gift shops. A bit seedy but that’s part of the charm. The Shearing coach took 11 hours there and 11 hours back from Newcastle, be warned!

Having visited this hotel during different times during the year, they always have fabulous offers. These include, March Madness, Summer Vacations and Tinsel and Turkey. The staff are fabulous all year round and nothing is too much trouble. This hotel retains the personal touch despite having approaching 200 rooms. I cant wait for my next break.

A friend and I spent 5 days at this hotel on a Shearings holiday. It is one of the cleanest hotels I have been in, everywhere was spotless. The staff are all excellent and can't do enough for you. The food is good with hot and cold choices at breakfast. I had a single room which had been updated and was very comfortable and kept clean daily with clean towels, etc. The location of this hotel is excellent, just across from the pier. We will certainly go to the Burlington again.

One night bed and breakfast to surprise friends on a Shearings break. Room 419 - redecorated, reeked of a take-away of some sort! Grubby fingermarks around light and plug fittings, shower trickled, but a lovely view and actually very quiet! Staff, charming and attentive - entertainment not my style but still enjoyed Mark's banter and a very good female singer! Public areas tired and actually dirty - downstairs gents a disgrace, lift with some form of carpet wall decor. Breakfast awful - bacon and sausage lying in a pool of grease at the bottom of the chaffing dish - scrambled egg beyond description! Tea from Thermos actually excellent! I regret this report as the staff were superb....
