A.Mazing. As always. You expect food at a Christmas do to be pretty average, especially catering for 12 of us on a busy Friday in December . Not so at Cru. Starters, mains and deserts were superb. Cooked to perfection. The Beef Steak with blue cheese for main was melt-in-the-mouth-divine. The ice cream served with the chocolate pudding was to die for!! Service, as always, was exceptional. Really and truly the best place to eat and drink in Eastbourne! If you’re considering going here, do it! You won’t regret it. Well done to the whole team at Cru-flawless! We’ll certainly be back!

Lovely welcoming Great Team, perfect Food & Wine and the usual brilliant atmosphere.
We had the festive menu to kick off our Christmas celebrations and couldn't of been any happier.I am Vegan and my husband is not and each time we visit the Team make sure that i am well catered for. The food options for me aren't huge, but neither is the menu in general anyway (for good reason, this is quality fresh food), but they will adapt or vary a meal if you ask (in advance is just polite), but I've also been in there on the day and they've adapted for me.
My husband absolutely loved his beef and Souffle option. The wine choices were as always brilliant. And we got a chance to experience some wines that they will be selling at there next venture Levels. super lucky.
I could go on for ages about how great this place is. If you love quality Ingredients cooked exceptionally and love wines that are well sourced and great tasting then please stop by and treaty yourself. Lunch, Sunday lunch, wine and a snack or Dinner.... It's all perfection.

Really glad I came across this restaurant. Went for my girlfriend's birthday and had a great night. Great friendly atmosphere "No snobyness". Great tasting food. Great wine. Great staff. Had our order upgraded and no extra cost as the chefs special steak we ordered had run out. Steak was cooked to perfection. All in all a great night out and will definetly return in future

Stopped here for Sunday lunch. Amazing service, lovely wine and a roast dinner that exceeded expectations. Starter of croquettes delicious which unexpectedly led to a free dessert that was equally delicious. Would definitely return and recommend.

Reserved for an early drinks and dinner on a Saturday night. Upon arrival, the intimate basement venue was humming, great vibe. We were welcomed immediately with sincere hospitality by all staff members and promptly seated.
Thorough, considered wine menu won’t disappoint, if you can’t find something you like, I guarantee the knowledgeable and helpful sommelier will...we enjoyed a lovely Santenay 1er Cru.It was all about the drink until we perused the food menu, which is a fascinating, diverse interpretation of cuisine styles all incorporating fresh, local produce. Was difficult to commit to an order, as it all sounded so good. I settled for the grilled scallops for starters, and monkfish and mussel Goan curry for mains, both of which were truly outstanding. My partner had the trio of dim sim (amazing!) to start, and the aged sirloin for main, which was of very high quality and prepared to perfection.
And then there was dessert, a banana, toffee and ginger pudding...devoured in seconds.
Finally, cocktails and port to finish an excellent evening.
Can’t wait to get back and get through the rest of the menu...we’ll be back...

What an amazing place! Our favourite overall in Eastbourne!
Such a great atmosphere with attentive staff that can't do enough for you. My partner and I were unsure on a wine that would compliment our meal, after asking for advice they spend time finding out our tastes, and found the perfect bottle for our meal.
The food is cooked to perfection with a meal for all tastes - highly recommend!!This place is a must for anyone after a hidden gem.

Ask, let them help you, they know what they are serving and are really respectful, not patronising in any way.
Food is excellent and venue is ideal.
Best place in town.

I just wanted to write a quick review to say that I popped into Cru last Saturday night and couldn’t hardly get in the door it was so busy. This isn’t a criticism btw! It’s so great to see somewhere in a Eastbourne clearly doing so well! The staff were on hand straight away to say hi & apologise for no space really to stay for a drink! We decided to move on but all said as we left it was a shame as it was a great atmosphere. I actually phoned Cru earlier in the week to book for dinner in November and got a really friendly lady on the phone who was welcoming & helpful. I visited earlier in the Summer and had a drink and enjoyed a great choice of wine available and again, really attentive staff. I’ve been in for lunches & dinners and can’t fault the food. Really, really well done Cru - I hope your success continues. Could there be a chance of bigger premises or possibly a Cru 2??

Although Cru sells itself as a wine bar it's the fantastic food and service which really sets this place apart. We visited on a busy Saturday night (book in advance via quandoo to avoid disappointment) and were immediately greeted warmly by the staff and shown to our table. The menu ,although small, has great variety including plenty of date night staples and dishes with a modern twist. I would particularly recommend the Fesenjaan Chicken Stew which was one of the tastiest dishes I have eaten all year. Other highlights included the Goan Monkfish Curry, Rhubarb and Vanilla Arancini and Banana, Toffee and Ginger Pudding with Rum Anglaise. With a great selection of wines it would be easy for this restaurant to serve below average food but it really does go the extra mile to deliver a warm, innovative and delicious dining experience.

We came to Eastbourne for a day out and chose Cru on TripAdvisor. When we arrived, we were surprised it was a lower ground floor and could smell the typical humidity of lower ground rooms. The menu was just a one pager but with really interesting food, we wanted to try everything! We ordered the cheese and mushrooms croquette, the steak baguette, the risotto and the fish& chips with various side courses. It was really good and reasonably priced!

Had the pleasure of eating here last night . Absolutely fantastic from start to finish . I chose the trio of dim sum and the confit duck as a main . I can honestly say the duck was the best I have ever eaten . Everything is also beautifully presented . The place was absolutely buzzing, the staff were lovely . There were no negatives . Will be back !!

We had very high hopes for this place after reading the reviews but it was not up to the standard we expected. one of us had the steak - he nearly sent it back after the first two chewy bites but after that it was very nice. I had the tuna with noodles and it would have been perfect if the noodles werent cold - I am not one to complain so I ate them anyway. The wine was great (merlot). We will not be going back.

On a wet, blustery, chilly Sunday whilst staying in Eastbourne, the obvious choice was to have a leisurely, restaurant lunch.
‘Cru’ did not disappoint. Food was excellent, plentiful - impossible to eat all- and service first class. Staff could not have been more helpful re my daughter being coeliac. We had a very pleasant time. The only reason for not giving a score of 5 was that it is difficult for people with mobility problems because of steps. However, if this isn’t an issue, we’d highly recommend. Excellent establishment.

Jordan and her team are amazing. Fantastic friendly staff, buzzing atmosphere, an excellent wine list and every time the food is amazing. Not the cheapest in Eastbourne but worth every penny. Strongly recommended!

Not one of the cheapest eats in Eastbourne, but if you’re prepared to pay a little extra, then it’s worth treating yourself. Tucked away, this little basement restaurant is cosy and has a good atmosphere. The steak is fantastic, but expect to pay around £30 for a main course.
Staff are all allergen aware and this place is really good for gluten free.

From the moment we walked into this charming restaurant we felt special. Hardy the owner greeted me by name and we were shown to a table. The table was one with high stools, which is fine for most people, but for us (we are a bit like hobbits!! lol) it was a bit of a mission and I was struggling to get up on the stool. This was discreetly noticed and we were offered another table straight away, no fuss, great customer service skills. We loved the atmosphere and ordered 2 glasses of Malbec, that were delicious and not over expensive. We then ordered our mains, I had Persian Chicken and Frank a Gourmet Burger...both delicious. There was nothing rushed, we just enjoyed the food, ambience and each others company. We finished with 2 flat white coffees , which again were spot on and served with a smile. We loved our evening at the Cru and will go back for dinner, lunch and Sunday lunch too.....its just our kind of place and vibe.

Absolutely loved Cru. Myself and husband went for an anniversary meal. Starters, main course (fillet steak and slow cooked lamb) were immaculate. So well prepared and cooked. The wine list is incredible (200 wines?), and the red we chose was described very well by the owner and amazingly no hangover. :-)
I can not recommend this lovely hidden away restaurant highly enough.
